To believe that formula companies have PR agents working the BF/FF threads on here?

They are a multi million pound set of companies that are invested in keeping Britain’s low breastfeeding rates down and keeping their profit margins up.

Any positives about breastfeeding seem to be shot down in flames on here.

So much pro formula and anti breastfeeding rhetoric.

They can easily afford to and have the best at the jobs be it lawyers, pr teams or spin doctors on their sides and they’re not exactly renounced for their ethics are they (nestle?!?!).

Or am I just getting a bit tied up in conspiracy therorys? Grin

Are you effing serious????? Look up baby milk action and the decades long boycott of nestle. There's a reason why there has been a 30 odd year campaign against nestle and the aggressive marketing of formula due to the infanticide caused by nestle and Danone

Is who effing serious?

If you lot are allowed to say you are “pro formula” am I allowed to say I’m “anti formula” ?

I used it but I wish it wasn’t so ready available. If it wasn’t I wouldn’t have given in.

If I could click my fingers and make a decision I’d get rid of it and put it on prescription for babies that can’t breast feed as agreed by a health professional so I guess that makes me anti formula but I won’t be allowed to say that out loud in real life will I? Despite the fact you can all say you are pro formula out loud.

So in my opinion that solves the argument that the BF’s are undermined by the FF’s.

I wish all bad food and many other things were banned too though and this is coming from a person who would get rid of phones and the entire internet without a seconds thought if I could so yes my views are probably in the minority.

Aeroflotgirl · 03/08/2018 14:19

Nope no formula company, just a mum who struggled with bf and had to use formula to keep my baby alive. Thank God we have an adequate alternative that is easy to get hold off if breastfeeding is not
working.

Why do you think formulation should be demonised. That poster who was going to tell a bf mum she was awesome, was patronising. Its like saying any mum who does not FF is not awesome. Yes she is doing a good job bf. But don't make a song and dance of it!

You are "allowed" to say what you like. I'm allowed to think you're anti-feminist.

Why do you feel you should be able to dictate how people live their lives?

Bet you’re anti ELCS too. Hmm

No milk supply is quite rare

Little or less than baby desire isn’t so rare - shared feeding was here and still is very common in some countries though this has dropped due to hiv risks

As is said before natural selection before the intervention of modern medicine and medical practice, modern supply of food thankfully keeps many babies alive

Fenwickdream · 03/08/2018 14:23

spreading to me it is a feminist issue, because to get breastfeeding rates up, it is women who have to do it. Women who, after 9 months of pregnancy and giving birth, have to give over their body yet again to breastfeed.

This, to me, is madness. Feminism that’s gone so far you begrudge the very act of feeding your baby?

You can’t argue with nature.

We know very little in life. Are we supposed to be monogamous? Are we supposed to eat meat? Etc etc

But one thing we do know is that those boobs you were born with were to feed those babies. To argue about that with a feminist stance has bowled me over.

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:24

No. Feminism supports women’s choices in how to feed their babies. Feminism doesn’t stop anyone breastfeeding.

spreadingchestnuttree · 03/08/2018 14:25

Fenwickdream I'm with you on banning unhealthy food and smartphones!

But imagine the black market in Wine and Cake Grin

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:25

You can’t argue with nature.

Actually, with the invention of anaesthetic, pain relief, windows, cars, refrigerators, and literally anything else. We can.

Pengggwn · 03/08/2018 14:26

My hands evolved to swing from tree branches - I don't do that. My leg hair evolved to keep me warm - I shave it off. My teeth evolved to tear meat - well, okay, I do that, but if I wanted to be a vegetarian would you be similarly "bowled over"?

Fenwickdream · 03/08/2018 14:27

I am anti feminist. I don’t need to harp on about what sex I was born all the time. I am what I am. I’ve never had a problem with how I’m treated by men.

There’s nothing for my to fight for?

If I’m honest “feminists” make my eyeballs roll into another dimension.

QueenofmyPrinces · 03/08/2018 14:27

I saw a comic strip once where formula companies were trying to sell formula to farms, pet shops and zoos for the baby animals - it was basically trying to poke fun at the idea that there’s no difference between formula and and natural milk that female mammals produce for their young and so if formula is good enough for human babies then there’s no reason why all infant mammals shouldn’t be having it.

I will admit to having used that strip to form an arguement when people tell me there’s no difference between breast milk and formula milk. I will ask them if the same applies to all mammals who feed from their mothers and ask if formula milk would be better for lambs and calves etc than their own mothers milk? Or is just the human species where the mother’s milk is no different or no better than formula?

My nan is very critical of breast feeding but generally stops harassing me to give formula when I start bringing other mammal’s milk into the discussion Smile

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:27

If I’m honest “feminists” make my eyeballs roll into another dimension.

People who want to control every aspect of others lives do that to me too! Funny.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 03/08/2018 14:28

But we are not all designed to give birth, for the baby to survive and the mother

We are not all designed to survive infancy

Thankfully many more of us to now becuase we can down to modern meds, practice and food chain

As we are not all designed for our boobs to produce enough milk

Pengggwn · 03/08/2018 14:28

That's fine - turkeys will vote for Christmas, won't they 😂

But as for me, I won't be told what to do.

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:29

I love it when a NATURE IS BEST person starts preaching from their computer or phone, using the WiFi in their house, about how those of us who use modern techniques are inferior. Grin

Pengggwn · 03/08/2018 14:29

QueenofmyPrinces

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a less effective argument than the one you just made about sheep.

Fenwickdream · 03/08/2018 14:30

So your saying we’ve “evolved” to use our boobs for sex and feed our babies formula? OK
😂

Thatssomebadhatharry · 03/08/2018 14:30

The only anti anything I ever read on here and everywhere else is from pro breastfeeding and how evil formula is. Never once read anything negative to say about breast feeding.

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:30

No, we’re saying that modern society gives people the choice in how to use their bodies.

Pengggwn · 03/08/2018 14:31

Fenwickdream

We evolved to be able to read, doesn't mean we're all doing it. Hmm

MrSpock · 03/08/2018 14:32

Fenwick has to be a troll, no one is surely this ridiculous.
