Sorry can't do links, but is all this real? YouTube "cps corruption US" and "Nancy Schaefer's Senatorial report The Corrupt Business of Child Protection Services" and "Denise Robertson UK social services".and "Wanted by The State". And there's more. Can't all be false, can it? Would appreciate views please.

I can’t find the child video you’re referring to but it’s possible the video is real, but not in the context of the description/title it’s been described as. As PP have said they often cut together old footage or pics and say it’s something it’s not. For example the EDL will post a pic of a big crowd and say it was the turnout to a rally, but actually it’s an old photo of the queen visiting a town or something.

rosylea · 01/08/2018 23:32

So it is real, Iknowitstim?

OP posts:
donquixotedelamancha · 01/08/2018 23:32

@rosylea. There is a principle of problem solving known as occam's razor, which says: The simplest explanation is usually the best

If you apply this idea to any claims you hear that are not widely accepted, you will cut through a lot of the crap. Simply ask lots of questions of the idea you are testing and ask yourself: 'Is there a simpler explanation than all these complex answers'. So for example:

Both Denise and the senator claimed that children were purposefully being removed from decent parents and they had evidence.

  1. Why is that senate report only on a number of nutty sites? How could anyone stop a powerful US senator from disseminating information? How could anyone stop ALL the competing newspapers from breaking a huge (and profitable) story)?
  1. How many millions of people would need to be involved in such a cover up? Presumably it must be every Police Officer and every judge? Would ALL those people really do something they felt was evil and no-one speak out? How would all the different organisations involved be coordinated? Why can't this super-conspiracy organise a piss up in brewery in regards to any other part of government?
  1. Why would anyone bother? How would they make money? People don't pay for adoptive children, in fact it costs a fortune to keep kids in care. Wouldn't local authorities rather take LESS kids in care if they could?

On a personal note, I am a Dad to two adopted kids. I can tell you from direct personal experience this stuff is crap. There is a lot of bigotry about adoption on the internet, please don't add to it.

MrsChollySawcutt · 01/08/2018 23:34

Go on OP, tell us you how you voted in the referendum - was it for Brexit?

rosylea · 01/08/2018 23:43

donquixote, respect to you for adopting. Can't understand why there is bigotry, you should be supported. I get what you're saying, but have you seen that video, it looks absolutely real?

OP posts:
Sparklesocks · 01/08/2018 23:45

We can’t possibly find or watch the videos unless you link them. It’s utterly impossible for us to tell you either way with just a few stock phrases.

rosylea · 01/08/2018 23:47

Ok sparkle but thanks anyway.

rosylea · 01/08/2018 23:53

There again there was that family law barrister on MN last year (spero) who said the emphasis is on removal rather than support.

OP posts:
Gettingbackonmyfeet · 01/08/2018 23:54

Why are you asking ? You seem determined to believe it so why bother questioning it if you've already made your decision

Given that you have quoted good morning as a credible news source I don't have high hopes but just in case

You have got it into your head all children will be removed because your daughter has depression?? If you have uttered a word of that to your child you are so unbelievably cruel it's not worth going on

Or hinted....or sent her these links

Either step back and become rational or learn to identify credibility within your sources but in either case for God's sake don't share your fantasies with your daughter please?

manaftermidnight · 01/08/2018 23:55

Did anyone remove your children OP due to your extreme gullibility and inability to think for yourself? No, there you go then

rosylea · 01/08/2018 23:59

man, at least I can spell "believes"Wink

OP posts:
manaftermidnight · 02/08/2018 00:02

Not the spelling that matters here though, is it?

twattymctwatterson · 02/08/2018 00:19

OP you really seem to lack quite basic critical thinking skills. You seem determined to believe a bunch of videos on YouTube, seem to think we have knowledge of what videos you're talking about but don't seem interested in legitimate news sources. This is how people are taken in by fake news. Next you'll be saying Joe Biden is creepy towards children which must be true because you've seen it on a video

donquixotedelamancha · 02/08/2018 00:28

I get what you're saying, but have you seen that video, it looks absolutely real?

I have. It was very convincing, and took me a few minutes to be realise it was definitely fake (I hadn't really understood what your OP was about when I googled it).

There again there was that family law barrister on MN last year (spero) who said the emphasis is on removal rather than support.

Please stop this. If you want to understand what spero was on about come and read the adoption boards and ask some questions. Don't push a conspiracy theory on a sensitive subject you have no experience of.

rosylea · 02/08/2018 00:32

Gettingback, I've already said I've kept my concerns from dd. Anyway, thanks all, let's hope it really is all fake news, goodnight.

OP posts:
GinIsIn · 02/08/2018 03:35

Oh for god’s sake. Saying “I have evidence” is not a source. The evidence would be the source - the proof - actuwll demonstrating it, not just claiming vaguely they have it.

The footage in a YouTube video could be from anything and just retitled. The Trump administration has recently removed dozens of migrant children from their parents - all I would need to do would be edit a clip of that to claim it’s Swindon social services or something.

Re a family lawyer on mumsnet - again, PROOF. Anyone can say they are a family lawyer. I’m a rocket scientist. If I tell you the earth is flat are you going to believe me?

Educate yourself - you are embarrassing.

scarbados · 02/08/2018 03:50

The Denise Robertson crap is just that - complete crap! I spent years working for Children's Services in a major city and assure anyone that they have enough to cope with without taking children away for invented reasons. But for every child who is taken into care, there are family in denial and insisting there was no problem.

Children can't always be place with grandparents or other relatives because sometimes the only safe option is for a child to have no contact at all with its parents and if the grandparents take the child in, there's no guarantee that the safety of the child will outweigh the desire to 'keep the family together' and the child could be put at serious risk.

And please remember that agggreived relatives are free to go to the press and tell their side of the story whether it's true or not. The courts and social workers don't have this freedom.

This is also how the scummy newspapers sell their product - lurid headlines getting the gullible worked up into a frenzy against the 'target of the week'. My husband calls their approach 'giving catnip to fuckwits'. He's right.

HarryPotterISreal · 02/08/2018 05:54

Please go on www.snopes.com op

They explain a lot of fake news.

IKnowItsTIMHONKSTIMHONKS · 02/08/2018 06:52

OP I think part of your problem is it seems you can't bloody read.

rosylea · 02/08/2018 10:03

I'm not embarrassed at thinking the 8 police officers and the child were fake. Brilliant acting, who needs Netflix?

OP posts:
rosylea · 02/08/2018 10:17

donquixote, you're right, it is a sensitive subject which is why I was trying to find out if it's really happening. You said you realised it was fake? How did you recognise that, if you don't mind me asking?

OP posts:
HarryPotterISreal · 02/08/2018 10:19

If you go on snopes they explain how.

rosylea · 02/08/2018 10:28

Thanks, I'm going to work now so I'll look at that later. Intriguing!

OP posts:
manaftermidnight · 02/08/2018 10:30
