This is utterly distressing, as a mother of a child with ASD, and learning difficulties, this could quite easily be my dd in a few years time, and it makes me sick, that there are scum out there that could do that to a vulnerable person.

I believe the yobs have been found and arrested, their parents show no remorse, only the impact of this on their poor boys. No apology to the lady, the apple doesen't fall far from the tree it seems.

I hope their families are very proud.

My H is disabled with MS, I would make sure that if anyone did that to him, I would'nt rest until they'd been named and humiliated.

I wonder how much of that woman's courage and hard work went into developing the level of independence that she had up to the point that she was sitting on that park bench. I wonder how much of her family's support, anxiety, love and hard work went in to helping get to that point? I wonder what impact this incident will have on her future ability to feel safe and confident going out on her own to enjoy the park and the community she is part of?

That's good Beyond, at last a parent acting in a decent manner, I would most certainly do the same, they would be grounded with no party, no gadgets. Bombadier I agree, my friend who is a young woman of 25 has a mobility scooter, she has severe and complex epilepsy, gastroparisis, Ehlers Danlos syndrome and other disabilities. She tells me that the dirty looks she gets out and about is shocking. Whilst out on her mobility scooter, she encountered a man having a seizure, people walked on by, whilst she tried to help him. She called him an ambulance on her phone.

I agree Female, it takes a lot of intervention to help a person with a learning difficulties and disabilities to learn skills for daily living and independence. At dd school, they are using zones of regulation to help her cope with her anxiety, they have been doing this for a few years. She is much better at coping, but if something out of the ordinary goes wrong, she can go from 0-60 in a few seconds flat, forgetting all her coping mechanisms, and resorting to a full blown meltdown.

In this situation poor dd would be screaming due to the flour and eggs in her hair, if they are teasing and provoking her she would be in full meltdown mode. Screaming crying howling.

If my DS ever behaved like this I'd drag him to the police station myself and I'd encourage them to give him the harshest punishment possible. There are many things I can deal with but this kind of bullying gives me the absolute rage.

Has there been any update on the lady? Do we know she's ok?

Someone wrote on Facebook earlier that the lady had requested that kind hearted people in the area stop going to her house and taking her things as it was causing her further distress. She wanted people to know she was ok though, as well as could be expected.

She has also asked for a proposed go fund me for her to not be set up, she doesn't want any further upset
