Arghhh. Trying to find a new cheap washing machine that does this. Not found one yet. Sad

John Lewis do one, own brand. Bought for FIL about a year ago. The quickest wash is 19 minutes.

My Meile also does this with the quickest wash at 31 minutes as perfectly acceptable for lightly worn clothes.

I struggled to find this combination. My Meile is now 12 years old so worth the investment. It’s been very busy over the years.

ThePricklySheep · 30/07/2018 16:20

How quick do you class as a quick wash?
Our last one had a ‘quick wash’ that was super quick, 19 minutes and shit, but a longer one of 40-50 minutes that was fine. I can find out a bit more if that’s quick enough?

scaredofthecity · 30/07/2018 16:20

It's because it's really bad for the machine, it won't last very long on constant quick wash fast spin cycles.

MatildaTheCat · 30/07/2018 16:21

Similar to this Review says 14 minutes!

thecatsthecats · 30/07/2018 16:23

We paid to keep the white goods from our house purchase - £200 for American style fridge freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher, plus some bits of furniture.

All Beko - not a brand I'd have chosen by reputation, but they're all performing nicely. Dishwasher has huge capacity and never leaves crusted food. Fridge fridges. And the time saver wash is 27m with a 1400 spin. Never had a problem with it, and it was here before the previous owners, so 2013 at least!

PamBeeslysCardigan · 30/07/2018 16:27

I echo the John Lewis own brand recommendation. Mine has a button that you can press once for a quicker wash and twice for a super quick wash. I love it.

ItWillAllBeOkayInTheEnd · 30/07/2018 16:29

I have a beko one with a quick wash & fast spin. It was pretty cheap, and it also has a tumble dryer.

MissConductUS · 30/07/2018 16:33

I have a Miele with a 31 minute quick wash as well and it's what I use 99% of the time.

In the US new dishwashers all take forever because of the restrictions on the amount of water and power they can use. The only thing the manufacturers can do to get better cleaning is extend the cycle time. I have a 15 year old KitchenAid dishwasher that I'm going to keep forever since it was from before the restrictions.

By the way, what is considered an "American Style" fridge, side by side doors?

thecatsthecats · 30/07/2018 16:38

Yeah, side by side fridge and freezer. Personally I find it a little annoying because the freezer side is quite narrow, I'd prefer a more even space distribution, but then I'd have an awkward gap in the kitchen!

smoothieooo · 30/07/2018 16:41

I have a Bosch washing machine (bargain from AO.com) with a quick 30 degree 15 min wash on a 1200 rpm spin. That's the quickest spin for that particular cycle (it usually spins at 1400 on a longer wash).

Storm4star · 30/07/2018 16:42

I have a 1400 spin but can't use it as it's too strong! The vibrations make things fall off the work surface above it and the noise is terrible. End up using it on 1000 all the time. i always have this idea that quick wash doesn't get things properly clean but that could just be me!

Avocado0nToast · 30/07/2018 16:46

I've just brought a beko with 1400 spin, a 14 min quick wash programme for 2kg or 27 min for a full
8kg. I've only had it a month but am happy with performance so far, and was only £230 on AO.

jaseyraex · 30/07/2018 16:46

I have a whirlpool. Quick wash is 30 mins at 1400 spin. How quick are you looking for?

thecatsthecats · 30/07/2018 16:47

I tend to think the opposite, Storm!

I have an entirely unscientific feeling that three small loads a week 1) gets everything cleaner (because it doesn't have to share as much machine space) and 2) doesn't damage clothes as much as being swooshed around for an hour and a half does.

But that is an entirely personal reasonaing not based in fact. However, by way of evidence - my gym kit goes for its weekly swoosh on the quick cycle, and those are definitely my stinkiest clothes, and they come out fine!

Gardenpicnic · 30/07/2018 17:10

Our Bosch machine does a quick wash for 30 minutes or a really quick wash for 15 minutes.

MissConductUS · 30/07/2018 18:39

Yeah, side by side fridge and freezer

It's extremely rare to see these in American homes for the reasons you cite about the dimensions. If we can't put a large frozen pizza box or a 20 pound turkey in the freezer for Thanksgiving dinner it won't work for most Americans. I do sometimes see them in office break rooms. I can't imagine why these are called "American style".

ToadOfSadness · 30/07/2018 18:45

I wanted a Beko for those features, however AO were unable to install it, or so they said.

Ended up with another Bosch from a different company, Bosch have a range of prices, ours has the features you are looking for.

It is worth considering that the quick wash feature tends not to rinse very well, so you might find that you are left with detergent in items, especially if you use the quick wash a lot. Run them on a wash without detergent every few washes and you will still see soap in the machine.

Slatternsdelight · 30/07/2018 18:50

I've got an AEG lavamat washer dryer and it has those features-a 20 min quick wash but also a function to reduce wash times for every wash setting. It's the best washing machine I've ever had

Hadjab · 30/07/2018 18:58

I have a Hotpoint that does a 15 minute wash 9 fine for one or two items), 1500 spin speed, and takes 9kg.

wantmorenow · 30/07/2018 19:51

Wow, just got back in. Thanks for all the replies will crack on researching these suggestions. Miele out of my price range though. Anything up to about 30 mins and spinning at about 1000 would be fine.

If you're in the Yorkshire area we have a 2 year old machine that we need to get rid of because we are moving. And a 1 year old dryer

For free!

Moononthehill28 · 30/07/2018 20:01

My Bosch is awful. The normal wash takes 3 and a half hours and wrecks the clothes. The eco option is an hour but the clothes are never clean. I hate it.

Hillarious · 30/07/2018 20:02

We've a Bosch that would suit your needs.

Ratonastick · 30/07/2018 20:23

My Samsung ecobubble has a 15 minute cycle. I only really used it to freshen things up a I don’t think it is a particularly effective cycle. The daily cycle on 40 degrees / 1200 spin only takes 53 minutes so I mostly use that. Bloody good machine though, especially as it has a handwash cycle which is a godsend. Bloody irritating little song when it finishes though.
