Manafort Trial pattern recognition, not inside knowledge:
I believe that Paul Manafort's attorneys elected not to put him on the witness stand or present any other evidence because they had received one or more negative rulings during the sealed hearing yesterday. /1

I expect that the hearing was about whether certain testimony by Paul Manafort (or his witnesses) would "open the door" to the Government being allowed to bring in evidence of other bad acts by Paul Manafort that were not charged in the indictment-either under Rule 404(b) . . /2
