Quotation from Quintillian, I believe (unless someone was fibbing about that too).

He's an old man, Gump. It's hardly surprising if he repeats himself.

ohmymimi · 03/08/2018 14:34

Finally found the discussion I heard on using just an AP pool reporter/camera, instead of the full media array for rallies.Lawrence O'Donnell's 'The Last Word', about 23 mins in on the podcast below:

Repeats himself, you say, due to agedness, cozie

Hmm he is just over a year older than I.

Lately, a comparison to someone has been niggling at me as far as Scrotus' recent speeches, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. Now I realize what it was, although this fictional character was actually very cagey and smart. President Snow of the Hunger Games and his rule by the philosophy of "panem et circenses" for his base as well as his vindictiveness and targeting of his enemies as being 'evil' and needing to be 'removed' for the 'good of the people'.

So who will be the 'tributes' in Scrotus' 'Hunger Games" when he subtly declares 'open season' on them? My bet is on the Press. And here I thought that journalists were only in danger in war zones.

Maybe I should forgive whoever it was who gave me the National Enquirer. (Well, a little.) It seems that Mr Pecker - sorry, but that's his name - is pulling back from Pro-45 coverage? Grin

Roussette · 03/08/2018 16:24

Ooooh yes... President Snow! I get that

Liar-in-Chief is at it again....

I'm of two minds about the AP press pool thing. On one hand, I see the benefits of not having a rank of MSM there to be taunted, thereby removing a target. But will it? I don't think so, he'll just say the same things only instead of pointing to the full press box, he'll be pointing to an empty one and saying that the MSM is too 'cowardly' to face him and the 'truth'. It will also restrict the coverage to what that particular AP pool reporter thinks is important, rather than a range of reporters reporting a range of things based on their own journalistic experience. Plus, to his base, it will give more 'importance' to the radical right press as he'll stress that only the 'legitimate' press is 'allowed' to be there.

Keeping the MSM out en masse won't work. His base only gets their info from Fox and Breitbart anyway. The MSM not being there isn't going to change his message nor the audience it reaches.

cozietoesie · 03/08/2018 16:42

Indeed. I'm ambivalent about it.

Minimammoth · 03/08/2018 16:50

I am Shock at how this can be actually happening, how nasty can the Trumps be.

I obviously don't have much talent for comedy, Lweji, and that is totally un-age related! Smile
You are probably right about the press at rallies, Across. Anyway, the media wouldn't risk revenue loss from their Oaf circus bonanza.

ohmymimi · 03/08/2018 18:29

Looks like the NRA is the author of its own financial problems, but is playing victim. I don't suppose Butina's shenanigans will help. Sad.

Unless they're the National Enquirer, mimi. Wink

In a newly disclosed letter, Trump Int'l Hotel's GM describes a lucrative visit by travelers with the Saudi Crown Prince that boosted revenue for the entire quarter.

It shows how little is known about the biz Trump's company does with foreign officials.

There has just been a segment about the Wilkes-Barre rally on C4 news, including interviews with trumpnuts and Qannon trumpnuts (and it looks like Q is really taking hold in trumpnutland) . It is still startling to see how easily (mis)lead these people are, and how totally resistant to any reason. It is going to be a long, painful, dispiriting slog to the midterms.
