Bathroom comes with the house??!!

So DH and I have just bought a new house (not brand new but new to us :)) and it cost us a lot of money (far more than a care to admit! :))
We moved in yesterday, the house is perfect except for one thing...

They've taken the bloody bathroom with them!!!!

One of the two main bathrooms upstairs is literally empty, like I don't mean just the furniture which you obviously take with you. But they've taken the bath, sink and shower!!!!

The room is tiled but theres random pipes sticking out of walls where these things should be!! The only thing left is the toilet. I honestly don't know what to do... We were going to redo the bathroom anyway at some point but never told this to anybody and weren't planning to do so until at least November/December time but now we don't have a choice!!

The kids come home from the holiday with my in-laws on Tuesday and we've got no bathroom for them!!!!

AIBU to think that the bathroom comes with the house, or is it totally reasonable to take the bathroom with you to your new house??!!

My sellers decided to paint my lounge a different colour between exchange and completion!!

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 30/07/2018 12:25

Was it nicer than the original?!

SmallVera · 30/07/2018 12:30

My vendors got arsey with me about something and threatened to take the fitted carpets with them (they didn't...)

ShotsFired · 30/07/2018 12:33

Mine redecorated too. They took the hallway from a disgusting Changing Rooms-esque purple with fancy "panelling" made up of border roll Confused to plain white paint. Never bothered repainting it in the few years I lived there afterwards!

CaptainGT · 30/07/2018 12:34

This is REALLY common in Germany particularly with bathrooms and kitchens...They might not even have known that it was included if they installed those things in the first place to a blank room.

But they've definitely done a bad! what a mad thing to walk in to on day one!

Racecardriver · 30/07/2018 12:36

I think that there is an exception for freestanding batrrom bits so a claw footed bath dkr example but generally bathroom hits are fixtures and part of the land you bought. Get in touch with your solicitor.

JohnnyKarate · 30/07/2018 13:04

@bloated1977 our sellers stripped all the wallpaper before we moved in.

I don't really know why but it saved us a job!

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 30/07/2018 13:12

Grin at all the numpties decorating after somebody's already bought the house!

NeverRed · 30/07/2018 13:13

Any news OP?

M3lon · 30/07/2018 13:14

I wonder if it was bad news from the solicitors...hence no update....

the standard fittings and contents form used in most transactions lists bath etc. Have you got a copy of the form?

InsomniacAnonymous · 30/07/2018 13:33

Surroundedbycats If you read the thread you will see that the bathrrom fixtures and fittings were included in the sale.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 30/07/2018 13:47

Just popped on to see an update too. Hope the solicitors are having some very strong words.

m0therofdragons · 30/07/2018 13:59

Mine kept wanting to leave/sell us furniture. They seemed to think we were first time buyers and they were doing us a massive favour! I kept having to point out that we already have sofas and the reason we were moving is we'd out-grown our previous home!

They still left a 70s storage unit in the garage which we do use as it's too big to easily dispose of. They also left the hideous "valances" above the curtains. Homemade with staples and glue gun! Imagine a padded headboard above every window. Not our taste.

Any news OP?

OliviaStabler · 30/07/2018 14:28

Considering how rude some pp have been about the OP, I'd be surprised if she returns to the thread.

LongSummerDays
...or has 2 young kids, a shitload of unpacking to do, and a stolen bathroom to resolve?

BMW6 · 30/07/2018 15:35

Don't hold your breath for an update people ........... Hmm

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/07/2018 15:43

Or maybe the OP is busy and has nothing to report.

She could have spoken to her solicitor and they could have said 'oh yes, that's terrible, we will get in touch with the vendors and get back to you' etc etc.

This all happened over the weekend and the solicitors haven't even had the issue to resolve for a whole working day yet.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/07/2018 17:12

How weird

My sellers stole loo roll holder - shower curtain - bathroom
Cabinet

Curtain pole in bedroom

And lightbulbs

Suffraduck · 30/07/2018 17:23

Whaaaat....

Stressedoutmamma · 30/07/2018 17:24

shamelessly place marking

BlueBug45 · 30/07/2018 17:27

@Blondeshavemorefun shower curtains like curtains are not fixed so can easily be taken down. Very weird to take the other stuff like curtain pole as they are all fixed - normally screwed in - to the wall.
