Bathroom comes with the house??!!

So DH and I have just bought a new house (not brand new but new to us :)) and it cost us a lot of money (far more than a care to admit! :))
We moved in yesterday, the house is perfect except for one thing...

They've taken the bloody bathroom with them!!!!

One of the two main bathrooms upstairs is literally empty, like I don't mean just the furniture which you obviously take with you. But they've taken the bath, sink and shower!!!!

The room is tiled but theres random pipes sticking out of walls where these things should be!! The only thing left is the toilet. I honestly don't know what to do... We were going to redo the bathroom anyway at some point but never told this to anybody and weren't planning to do so until at least November/December time but now we don't have a choice!!

The kids come home from the holiday with my in-laws on Tuesday and we've got no bathroom for them!!!!

AIBU to think that the bathroom comes with the house, or is it totally reasonable to take the bathroom with you to your new house??!!

Don't think I've read anything I agree with more than that, Pigletjohn. And shopping around definitely pays off, if I'd gone with Bath Store's quote I'd have paid £££ more for inferior quality fittings. White is white if the items aren't right next to each other and different lights can make the same colour look different.

DerelictWreck · 07/08/2018 13:03

This makes me feel ripped off - I paid about £11k for my bathroom!

Did involve a custom build shower and the floor needed stripping down and levelling, but still Shock

Do you think the vendors came back and stole the OP too?

I work for a company that fits bathrooms they can range from £1500 for basic shower and sink right through to the highest one we've done which was £30k (there was heating stuff included in that) which was full rip out pipework moved designer furniture rainfall head designer screens etc looked beautiful.
OP best of luck finding a new bathroom x

GinPink · 07/08/2018 19:05

Can anybody recommend a company that sells good quality bathroom stuff? Where we've asked bathroom fitters to come round and quote, the labour costs have been around £5-6k. This may be a feature of where we live though (surrey) Including fittings this would take us to £8k minimum (including tiles and flooring) But be good to know if anyone rates a particular brand. Sorry for mini hijack!

GreenTulips · 07/08/2018 22:07

I looked at the warranty - some brands are 10 years others 25 years

Let me see if I can find the supplier details

mermaidsandunicorns · 07/08/2018 22:51

@lollylollington we use a company called claygate for our high end stuff they're not far from you

chicazteca · 08/08/2018 09:04

greencygnets is ghosting us Confused

tenbob · 08/08/2018 14:18

lolly

I'd try CP Hart
They have a wide range of brands but it's all great quality and your builder should be able to get a trade discount to knock 5-10% off the price

They are a really great company to deal with, and my go-to for bathrooms

larinai · 08/08/2018 14:19

oh thx for the hint with the discount!

ToadOfSadness · 08/08/2018 16:41

Wondering what happened?

Runningupamountain · 08/08/2018 17:30

I hate it when I invest time in threads like this that fizzle...

LollyLollington · 08/08/2018 20:11

Thanks everyone for suggestions! It's so depressing how much it's going to cost! I'm thinking if I'm going to be spending 8-10k total then at least I want decent stuff Smile

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/08/2018 20:24

So bloody annoying when the Op doesn’t come back to tell you what’s happened. Hmm

flumpybear · 09/08/2018 07:59

What's happened @greencygnets ??

Tinkerbell1980 · 11/08/2018 20:27

Any update??

Stressedoutmamma · 24/08/2018 22:58

any updates please

CSIblonde · 24/08/2018 23:22

They have to leave fixtures & fittings. If the bathroom suite (colour etc) is mentioned on the property details I'd print that off/photocopy, & take with sale contract to your solicitor. Legal stuff, any/every written doc as back up evidence always helps.

MeMeMeow85 · 24/08/2018 23:29

@LollyLollington - we’re in the same area and I’ve got the same issue at the moment. I received 2 bathroom fitting quotes (first was £5k and the second was £7.5k plus VAT!!!). Please PM me if you find a good reasonable quote

AlmostAlwyn · 06/09/2018 12:25

I know IABU posting as this thread is getting old, but I'd love to know what happened, OP!

Lisabel · 06/09/2018 12:30

Wow, of course it's part of the house- that's ridiculous of them!
