AIBU to think this "friend", the bride in question, is a massive bitch ? Just one of those awful entitled bridezilla who expects everyone else to prioritize her big day over anything else. Clearly this relegated bridesmaid had good reason for only being able to attend parts of the endless preparations and celebrations. In my opinion it would be the world to me just to have the person there when they could be and grateful for any effort made to do so.

I was basing it on her email not the tweet
She tweeted the email. And?

HollowTalk · 28/07/2018 22:32

Can you identify which specific phrases you object to, OP?

mzmum78 · 28/07/2018 22:34

Yes @Saloubalou you're right

I was thinking the same! Why would you choose those for your bridesmaids??

LimeIce · 28/07/2018 23:57

Agree, the white jumpsuits look awful

Haworthia · 29/07/2018 00:01

I did sympathise with the bride. Clearly this friend wasn’t able to fulfil her bridesmaid “duties” - hen do, meet up the day before, etc so it’s all got a bit awkward.

JUMPSUITS, though? Confused

Not going to pass comment on the unreasonable-ness of bridesmaids having numerous “duties”. I didn’t have any and I didn’t feel like I needed them either.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 29/07/2018 00:06

I think the bride is absolutely in the right here. She didn’t want a part time bridesmaid, she wanted an involved one. This BM can’t be that, so the bride has (rightfully so) nicely and politely asked her to step down.

Sparklesocks · 29/07/2018 00:21

I think this is mean, the bride's treating her like staff, not a close friend. And it looks she bought the jumpsuit herself so it's weird to ask her to post it!
Also feel bad for the bridesmaid 'on call' now being asked to step into her shoes, she can't be that good a mate to the bride if she didn't make the cut first time round!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 29/07/2018 00:26

I read the same passive aggressiveness you did as well OP. It is almost patronising with the wanting to take the stress off her so she can concentrate on school.
When I was planning my wedding I did get glimpses of how easy it is to be a bridezilla but I had no expectations of by bm at all just turn up on the day and be my friend. One of my bm did have to leave early because she had an early start the next day and I still managed to have a great night without her there.

KittyHawke80 · 29/07/2018 08:03

I agree that no-one’s emerged from this well, but I agree with you, OP - if a BM needs to leave early, well - she needs to leave early. It isn’t a football match - you don’t need to play a late sub. One of the others can hold up her skirt if she needs a piss. Those jumpsuits are fucking horrific and look like something from ‘Blake’s 7’. I imagine. I’ve never seen it. I know the conventional wisdom is you don’t do tits and legs, but it’d’ve been nice five they’d been allowed to do one or the other. They look heavy and hot - and impossible to have a wee in. Those BMs, in fact, would be constantly helping each other wee, so you’d need full attendance. All hands on deck.

KittyHawke80 · 29/07/2018 08:03

if. Not ‘five’.

Having Googled - yes, 100% ‘Space 1999’. It’s really only because they’re attractive, slim girls that they don’t look absolutely wretched. I see the bows now! What was the thinking? ‘It needs something to break it up a bit . . .’ ‘A weirdly tiny, military-type bow?’ ‘Attagirl!’
