To not be able to boil an egg?!

Literally. I’m not a bad cook. Why does my every attempt at this fail??

Lovely pan of bubbling water. In goes the egg. Press phone timer. Take out egg. Run under cold water. Remove shell.

The fucker is either hard in the middle, or (more often) fucking raw 😡🤬

I have tried all the minutes. All of them. There is no happy medium. Ffs.

40 mins for a jacket potato! Mine take about 2 hours.. why I rarely eat them

Get an electric egg boiler. Concentrate your cooking efforts on easier things (like the toast to cut into soldiers)

Lidl have a really nice looking egg cooker in this week's offers! It's about £6 and looks like this...

I bought one last weekend and have used it quite a few times now, I love it! It's such a neat little gadget! Apparently in other parts of Europe this is standard kitchen kit.

Put it in cold water, as soon as there are bubbles forming on the bottom of the pan time for 5 minutes. Perfect soft boiled every time.

OP if you take your egg out, take off the top and it's still raw, pop it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds (depending on how raw), the white will expand slightly over the shell however the yolk will still be runny. (Thanks MIL for that tip!!)

I LOVE my egg cooker. It cooks then quicker than the water boils and they come out perfect every time. I wish I'd bought one years ago.

Poaching an egg is a whole different ball game! I cannot poach an egg. It usually comes out with the yolk hard and the whites still runny. And how do you get that lovely round shape? The whites of mine usually disintegrate. 🤨

I have 2 words for you on the subject of poached eggs - 'Saint Delia'.

Does anyone bake eggs? I've read about how great these are but never seen a recipe. My favourite is a proper Spanish omelette though - or proper French cheese omelette (and frites).

AsAProfessionalFekko I love baked eggs! Nice easy meal in one with some toast. I think I followed Jamie Oliver the first time:

So versatile.
