Aibu MNHQ does not want us to debate brexit on the main boards

Just that.

Someone shared a link to the Independent's Final Say petition. The most important debate this nation can have right now is on the final brexit deal. This was promptly buried in the 'petitions' section.
This isn't any old petition. It concerns all mums/ citizens. If someone wants to share it with the wider MN community, they should be able to.

So is this another stealth thread about Brexit or is it a TAAT?

surferjet · 27/07/2018 07:59

I think it was a remainer complaining that Brexit related threads are transfered over to the correct, easily accessible, section. Not satisfied with having an entire board dedicated to Brexit ( with all threads appearing in active convos ) they want to flood the main boards with it as well?
I think that was the gist of it.

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 08:14

Unfortunately there are fewer people to point out what a load of crap you talk on the Brexit board, Surfer.

SlartiAardvark · 27/07/2018 08:20

I couldn't be any less interested in "having another say" about Brexit.

In case you hadn't noticed, the general public are, on the whole, fuckwits who shouldn't be asked anything of importance.

The lack of ability to make even the most basic decisions is pretty apparent on these very boards FFS!!

Yes, it's right that the petition thread goes in the petition boards.

Or better yet - that it gets deleted as being a waste of fecking time....

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 08:24

I’d be happy for the public not to have another say if parliament had the balls to say Brexit is unworkable and can’t be delivered. But since they’re not going to do that, our only hope is for a second referendum and cross our fingers that the idiots are outnumbered this time.

SlartiAardvark · 27/07/2018 08:27

the idiots are outnumbered this time.

It could be argued that they were outnumbered last time.

Which is why they lost.

What happens if there's a bigger swing to leaving in the next one?? A Third referendum?

Deshasafraisy · 27/07/2018 08:29

“Brexit?? La la la” (eyes closed, fingers in ears)

  • most of British public.

Signed the petition. It’s important.

And it's not just relevant to the uk. Other nationalities would do well to look at what's happening as we are talking about the very nature of democracy and parliamentary systems. It IS relevant.

Yeah... no.

It's not relevant to me in Australia. Can't imagine many people in NZ, the US, Canada or elsewhere being particularly interested or concerned either, shocking as that might be to you.

surferjet · 27/07/2018 08:42

It really should be apparent to all but the very worst kind of cretin

You really are a charmer aren’t you Hmm

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 08:45

Surfer, I’m not the one who posted an apparently serious thread saying that Channel 4 should be banned because they’re not sufficiently pro Brexit and that media outlets should only be allowed to broadcast “news” which supports your political views.

There’s a word for people like you, and it’s a lot worse than “cretin”.

Have you read 1984 yet, as you were told to? Or even just the plot summary on wikipedia?

WarPigeon · 27/07/2018 08:46

LoveInTokyo

Repeating the “350m for the NHS” line does really do a lot of good, and makes you look a bit of a prat with no opinion of your own.

‘We ARE better off in the EU financially’ - I’d go with a truthful angle rather than tabloid crap.

WarPigeon · 27/07/2018 08:48

Doesn’t ^ damn my phone typing 😄

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 08:51

Are you denying that the leave campaign drove round in a bus with “We send £350m a week to the EU, let’s fund our NHS instead”?

Or are you suggesting that the leave campaign shouldn’t be held accountable for any of the bullshit things they said to try and persuade people to vote leave?

Please clarify.

surferjet · 27/07/2018 08:59

Oh bore off back to the Brexit board.

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 09:02

Where fewer people are there to read and wonder at the idiocy of Brexiters total lack of any coherent arguments as to why we are going through with this madness?

Yes, I totally get why you would want that.

rainbowsandsmiles · 27/07/2018 09:15

What happens if there's a bigger swing to leaving in the next one?? A Third referendum?

Exactly! "Keep on voting until you vote the RIGHT way!" Hmm
Anyone seen the film Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey? It reminds me of them playing Twister and Battleship with the Grim Reaper.
"Dude,we won!"
"Best out of three?"
"Damn right!" Grin
Laughable. I voted Remain but FGS, we lost, should be finding a way to get on with it,not constant whinging and tantrumming.

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 09:21

Get on with what?

What is the solution to the Irish border situation? How are we going to "get on with it" in a way that doesn't wreck the economy? What even is "it"?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 27/07/2018 09:23

Quite clear that the “winners” want the whole thing to go away. Hardly surprising when you end up voting for job losses and food shortages.

Confused

Leaving (trying very hard not to add a comma and duh after the word Leaving there)
Instead of it's not fair and we need to vote again as I don't like the outcome and people didn't do it properly and vote like they were "supposed" to, it'd be better to actually get on with the outcome and find a best way out instead of all the whinging and tantrumming.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 27/07/2018 09:35

Does it look like the government have found a “best way out?”

HateIsNotGood · 27/07/2018 09:43

Not long now and this Brexit thread will be moved to the Brexit Board....

LoveInTokyo · 27/07/2018 09:44

OK, so we're leaving. Fine. Got it.

Er, where are we going? And what are we doing about the whole border thing? And the economy? Do we get answers to any of these questions before we leave?

Because at the moment, being told that we are "leaving" without any further detail is like being told to walk out of an air conditioned and boarded up house butt naked without even being told whether there's a heatwave outside, torrential rain or a blizzard.
