If yes, what was the timeframe?

Submitted our application about a month ago as not in a particular rush. However i’ve unexpectedly come into some money & quite fancy a holiday sooner. Typical!

Yes I have. It was a shambles tbh. They lost the expired passport I sent with the new application. I had to then report it as lost online even though I didn’t lose it it. Then there were a few more administrative cock ups by them before we finally got the new passport. It took 4 weeks but half of that time was down to them messing it up, it should have taken about two weeks really.

Paddingtonthebear · 25/07/2018 17:11

I would recommend that you chase it up if it’s been a month as they might have made an error. I didn’t know about our problems until I chased them up

HotStickyTired · 25/07/2018 17:11

I submitted my DCs first passport applications and all supporting items on 25/5, and had them back on 13/6.

Amanduh · 25/07/2018 17:12

Yep. A week

Amanduh · 25/07/2018 17:12

(Well 9 days but that included a weekend)

Strax · 25/07/2018 17:12

I applied online and sent the photos etc in to arrive on Monday this week. Had a text today to say the passports were being despatched today. That was for first passports.

lulu12345 · 25/07/2018 17:13

Yes... I got a text from them when they received the application to give a more accurate timescale but think it was about 10 days from submitting via post office check and send

Plughole3 · 25/07/2018 17:14

Sounds like a nightmare but at least sorted now.
Mine is for a baby so it’s the first one. I don’t think i’ve ever done it by post, normally I’ve gone to the office & done it on the day, which I so should have done.

The people who have had it back quickly did you pay for the week turnaround?

OP posts:
NinkyNonk1 · 25/07/2018 17:16

Don't mine by post office and it was back within 2 weeks. Baby passport

Paddingtonthebear · 25/07/2018 17:22

I also paid nearly £10 for the post office check and send service, and then the passport office told me the old passport wasn’t in there. Clearly it was. They refused to admit they lost it in the office! Hmm.

They also checked all of our countersignatories information so that delayed things too. They wrote to her at her work address and she can to post copies of the inside of her passport on work letter headed paper, she also had to confirm how long she has known me and my daughter and in what capacity. So if you’ve put a counter signature name down make sure they are checkable and contactable!

Amanduh · 25/07/2018 17:24

No, didn’t pay for the fast turnaround, or check and send or anything. Just sent it off myself

restingbemusedface · 25/07/2018 17:26

Sent my application a week ago and got a text today to say they are done and I’ll get the passport in a few working days. Didn’t pay for quick turn around.

Nicpem1982 · 25/07/2018 17:29

Got ours in 9 days for our dn

Plughole3 · 25/07/2018 17:31

Child renewal, completed online.
Submitted end June, sent 1st class on the Monday, new passport delivered by courier the following Wednesday.
I think I had a text to say it was received and being processed, another to say it had been approved and a final one to say it would be delivered the next day.
I decided he was recognisable from his previous picture so didn't get it countersigned.

I've been very impressed with the speed of all passport applications I've made over the last 10+ years.

helforddreams · 25/07/2018 17:36

Got it within a week. I did not pay for any extra service or go to the Post Office.

GKite · 25/07/2018 17:39

Applied in May for two child first passports, and one adult one. Child's ones(from form being sent to passport in my hand) 4 days. Adult one 6 days

Dieu · 25/07/2018 17:44

An amazing service - ours was so quick.

CatsCatsCats11 · 25/07/2018 17:46

Recieved it yesterday sent it about 10 days ago, it did go with my renewal though which may have sped it up.

Frusso · 25/07/2018 17:56

All back within 2 weeks. (Last month)
Applies online. Sent everything recorded.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/07/2018 17:56

A month seems too long. I think there may be an issue. Definitely best to give them a call.

Chickychoccyegg · 25/07/2018 17:59

I did, filled form in online, printed it off, sent with photos, received new one 8 days later, that was end of June

StrugglingMumma · 25/07/2018 18:01

Got my 2 year olds first passport end of June. Took 10 days (including weekend) from using the check and send service to actually receiving her passport

Justaboutawake · 25/07/2018 18:13

3 weeks for first passport. Was only that long because they wrote to the person who countersigned with some routine check up questions as part of their random checks. Once that was sent back I had it within 2 days
