to wish my name wouldn't always come up in the baby names threads?

NC for this. My name always comes up in the baby names threads. Always as 'dated' or 'common' or 'chavvy' etc etc. Sick of seeing my name slagged off and I never felt down about it until mn. To the point that I have hidden the baby names threads and never read them, even though we are currently trying to think of a name for DC1. AIBU to think that we don't think of these things when we slag off other people's names on the internet? That people actually have these names? Sad

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/07/2018 06:56

I might call a labrador Shadow.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 25/07/2018 14:31

Is it Savannah? I really like that name but I don’t care what most people on MN think about my name choices.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 25/07/2018 14:57

Shadow? Fuck me.

ButchyRestingFace · 25/07/2018 15:06

I was going to say Kylie for OP but then I realised, most Kylies will be late 20s/early 30s by now and OP is only 23.

Where do the years go...

lilyheather1 · 25/07/2018 15:07

Is it Kayleigh, perhaps?

QuinoaPhoenix · 25/07/2018 15:13

I reckon Danielle or Lauren

DavetheCat2001 · 25/07/2018 15:14

Paige I bet ya

waterlego6064 · 25/07/2018 15:45

My name is a bit Marmite on MN*. It was popular for my generation then died off but has had a little bit of a resurgence.

MN feelings about it include ‘classic’ ‘harsh’ ‘beautiful’ and ‘ugly’. So there we go!

*My name is not Marmite
so watch what you say

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 25/07/2018 15:50

I so want to say something now... 😈

toomanytolist · 25/07/2018 15:51

Rumplestiltskin?

peachgreen · 25/07/2018 15:57

My name is one of the "overdone" ones but I've only actually ever known one other person with the same name in real life, so it never really bothered me! I avoided those threads entirely when choosing my daughter's name - not really fussed what MN thought of it tbh although I have just done a search out of curiosity and besides some arguments about spelling people like it. Which means in 20 years time it'll be universally loathed. Grin

CookieSue222 · 25/07/2018 16:01

My daughter is 25 - a list of her mates (and herself) include:
Paige, Megan, Josie, Chloe, Emily, Katy, Rebecca, Laura, Evie, Kaitlin.........
any of those OP? - very much names of the Nineties.

CookieSue222 · 25/07/2018 16:07

Oh yeah, and I fit into the group of 50 to 70 year olds with that ubiquitous 1960's name. Still it could have been worse, my poor sis was saddled with a name so awful, that it ranks up there with Kevin, on the chart of first names not never ever used any more. (middle names after relies acceptable though).

Coyoacan · 25/07/2018 20:10

I am surprised at the "horrible" names being cited here.

BuntyII · 25/07/2018 20:32

Wait until someone slags off your babies name. Violent thoughts will ensue.

IVEgotthePOWER · 26/07/2018 07:50

My dds name has been mentioned on this thread

I do not feel violent
