I don't normally - and we are fine with that cos they are clean and get crumpled anyway. I do iron the single bedding but SK is such a massive faff. However DP's are currently staying and in our room and DM has commented on my unironed sheets... aibu to tell her to try and wrestle them on the ironing board?!

I just tumble dry mine, take it out while still warm and give it a good shake.
I barely iron anything.

My Dsis does. She irons everything. And whinges about how much ironing she 'has to do'. She has a SK bed and bought the prettiest ruffled white cotton bedding a few weeks ago. Last time I went round there I walked in on her saying 'bloody bastard ruffles' and laughed and laughed for about half an hour while she wrestled with ironed them. I'm a very nice sister, as you can tell.

Always used to fold bed linen as soon as it came out of the tumble dryer & it was fine, but then when I went into labour with DS1, everything got left in the dryer whilst I was in hospital for 5 days, and my lovely DM spent ages ironing them to get the creases out. They felt sooooo much better the next time they were put on the bed, and I've had to iron ever since. DH always makes sure he goes to bed before me on days I've changed the sheets, just so that he's first into them! Grin
Have to confess to owning a rotary iron which makes ironing SK bedding so much easier. Just put washing in tumble dryer on machine iron setting so they come out slightly damp.
Also, anyone who hates ironing, get a good quality steam generator. Ironing takes a fraction of the time, you'll be amazed.

No I don't iron any bedding these days. I used to iron pillowcases and single sheets but decided even that was too much hassle

BlondeVolvo · 24/07/2018 11:38

Good God no!!! It’s literally a whole afternoon’s work! Also it ends up trailing on the floor!!

My husband has his work shirts ironed by a local ironing shop and I sometimes sneak a couple of sets in with them if we’ve got guests though.

LavendarGreen · 24/07/2018 11:39

Never ironed bedsheets in my life.

In fact, I don't iron ANYthing.

Basta · 24/07/2018 11:46

Frankly, you could have left the words "super king size" out of that AIBU and the answer would have been the same (i.e. "not bloody likely". I've just come away on holiday without ironing any of my clothes and it was surprisingly liberating.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 24/07/2018 11:52

I iron my pillow cases & duvet cover but cba to do the fitted sheet. I fold my duvet covers in half though so my ironing isn't "perfect". If I got an SK- tbh, I probably would still iron it but probably not fabulously, my aim is that the main "spread" looks fresh & smooth. Too busy ironing my tea towels and my face-cloths and steaming my silk scarves otherwise!

I do like to think I'm one up on a particularly iron obsessed friend though. He uses non-fitted bottom sheets so that he can iron them properly!!

madcatladyforever · 24/07/2018 11:56

I always did, I didn't want to but i do love getting into a beautifully made bed and I am super tidy living on my own until......I found crease resistant bedding. Now I never need to iron.

Schroedingerscatagain · 24/07/2018 11:57

I don’t normally iron my super king bedding but I’m just about to as I’ve a brand new bed and headboard arriving on Thursday and have lovely new bedding to go on it

It will be down hill all the way from there though Grin

xJessica · 24/07/2018 12:03

I iron our single and double duvet covers but I think it would be a different matter altogether if I had to wrestle with king size or superking!

Trinity66 · 24/07/2018 12:04

Iron bed sheets? what is this madness?

MonkeySlutIsBlown · 24/07/2018 12:06

I'm in the minority but yes I do iron super king size bedding. It feels so nice I will not stopGrin

I am also one of the few who can perfectly fold fitted sheets, and one of the even fewer who changes their bed sheets daily. I am a MN rarity.

ChishandFips33 · 24/07/2018 12:09

Hahahahaha....no!!

Life is way too short

ChishandFips33 · 24/07/2018 12:10

I do fold fitted sheets though - my drawer storage has to be right!

I feel this redeems other slattern habits Grin

OverTheHedgeHammy · 24/07/2018 12:11

Here's a trick if you feel like ironing the duvets.

Make the bed with the sheets. Then get the duvet cover and put it on the mattress, and iron it on the bed. That way your duvet cover AND the sheet get ironed, and you iron it on a large surface so it's easier.

BunsOfAnarchy · 24/07/2018 12:16

Yes but only because im a serial ironer. Plus i paid silly money for a spaceship of an iron so bloody everything gets ironed now.

DerelictWreck · 24/07/2018 12:18

If you don't use the bed, how do you iron bedding? Surely it all just drapes on the floor while you iron to few feet that fit on the board?

Maybugger · 24/07/2018 12:27

I iron everything, bedding , linen clothing, the whole caboodle. I love ironing, always have done and always will!
Nothing beats crisp, ironed bedding and clothing imo.

WildCherryBlossom · 24/07/2018 12:41

I stopped ironing bedding when I had my 3rd baby. Perhaps when the children start leaving home I will start again... I do really love the feeling of freshly ironed sheets.
