I don't normally - and we are fine with that cos they are clean and get crumpled anyway. I do iron the single bedding but SK is such a massive faff. However DP's are currently staying and in our room and DM has commented on my unironed sheets... aibu to tell her to try and wrestle them on the ironing board?!

I don't own an iron.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 23/07/2018 22:13

Mwah-ha-ha-ha.....NO!

Nagaram · 23/07/2018 22:14

Sheepyfun your Hama beads comment made me choke with laughter!

Rebecca36 · 23/07/2018 22:16

No, they go to the ironing shop.

steppemum · 23/07/2018 22:16

I never iron any bedding ever.

My mum loves to have her 100% luxury cotton sheets ironed, as she says it feels lovely.
she pays her cleaner to do it!

Piffpaffpoff · 23/07/2018 22:16

Pillowcases only here. (My DM irons underwear too btw !)

GummyGoddess · 23/07/2018 22:16

No, it takes bloody half an hour to change the bedding! I'm not spending more time on ironing it. If I was rich I would pay someone to do it though.

My colleague thinks I should but she also irons bra straps, towels and thongs.

BG2015 · 23/07/2018 22:17

No. Don't iron any bedding at all

Cyw2018 · 23/07/2018 22:17

I had to iron a king size duvet cover and fitted sheet when I was helping a friend do change over on her holiday let, I thought I wasn't going to be able to find my way out of the duvet cover when I was trying to wrestle it into the ironing board.

The next time I helped out I put them on the bed first then ironed.

MrsMWA · 23/07/2018 22:18

Me I do, can’t master the fitted sheet though.

Chapman31 · 23/07/2018 22:18

I don’t iron my clothes let alone the bedding.

MissusGeneHunt · 23/07/2018 22:18

Iron bedding? Good god alive, and christ on a bike. Nah. Life's too short!!

NonaGrey · 23/07/2018 22:19

I iron king sized bedding and no doubt would super-king bedding if we ever moved up a size.

However that is my choice, what other people do is none of my business. I certainly would never dream of commenting on my host’s sheets.

Does you mother have no manners at all?

MaisyPops · 23/07/2018 22:20

Who irons any bedding?

stayathomegardener · 23/07/2018 22:20

I've just opened an Airbnb, double and king beds.
I've started ironing bedding.

It's crap but I'm getting much quicker.

Top tips, spread the fuckers really flat to dry minimising creases. Fold in half , iron one half on super hot and iron out the crease. Do an excellent job on the pillows and top half. Finally cover the bottom half of the bed with a beautiful non iron throw to cover up less than perfect bits.

Getting great reviews including bedding compliments.

steppemum · 23/07/2018 22:21

also - I smooth and fold my bedding once it is wahsed an dput it in the drawer.
By the time I use it the weight of it folded int he drawer has smoothed it out.

But I can fold fitted sheets, I am very good at that (polishes medal)
I was taught by my Dutch SIL

witwootoodleoo · 23/07/2018 22:25

I love ironed bed sheets, but I hate ironing with a passion. I haven’t ironed a single thing in ten years. But I did cheat a few years ago and started to get my cleaner to iron my super king sheets for me. It’s such a luxury, but it makes me disproportionately happy. Clearly wouldn’t be rude enough to comment on unironed sheets as a guest though, that’s very poor form.

Crumblevision · 23/07/2018 22:30

Superking bed here. And yes I do iron them. I am a little fanatical about ironed bedding on my own bed. To me, it's better

DesignStatement · 23/07/2018 22:31

Always iron duvet covers and pillowcases. Duvet cover usually stays crease free after ironing - but it's a king size and it's a chore. I do it while watching TV, so not really taking up time where I had 'better things to do'. My choice - I like nicely made beds.

(Actually find it hard to believe people never iron anything or 'don't own an iron'. What do you wear to work? What do kids school clothes look like? Seriously impressed if you can do without an iron and still look smart. I've never managed the 'hang things up and creases drop out' routine)

adviceonthepox · 23/07/2018 22:35

I do not iron bedding underwear towels tea towel or even half my clothes! Life is to short and it's far to hot to faff about ironing things that do not need ironing!

steppemum · 23/07/2018 22:36

Design
I never iron school uniform.
school trousers and cardigans don't crease, I wash and hang and there aren't creases.
School shirts - hmm white polos could do with it, but I smooth and fold and by the time they are worn, they are OK, not amazing but OK. But in winter they are underneath, so who cares!
Secondary shirts, dds are polycotton and no creases once hung up, ds are 100% cotton, and I do have to iron them.

As to work, well, most work clothes are not cotton, so they don't need ironing. I actually don't like them, but most blouses and trousers are artificial fibres, and don't need ironing

Serin · 23/07/2018 22:39

I do.
It never occurred to me not to.
Until now.

LizzieSiddal · 23/07/2018 22:42

I iron the super king duvet and pillow cases. I hate doing it but not as much as I hate the crumpled look.

I never actually make the bed on my own, I find it too difficult. Dh and i do it together and we’ve got it down to a fine art. Takes us about 3 minutes!

shinyredbus · 23/07/2018 22:42

i do. i just like ironed sheets. :) :) I could not sleep on them if they were not.

rosesandcashmere · 23/07/2018 22:42

I do, but I stupidly bought Egyptian cotton and it’s so much nicer ironed. I have a fab iron and I fold it all first and steam steam steam
