I don't normally - and we are fine with that cos they are clean and get crumpled anyway. I do iron the single bedding but SK is such a massive faff. However DP's are currently staying and in our room and DM has commented on my unironed sheets... aibu to tell her to try and wrestle them on the ironing board?!

I should add I usually iron a bit every day, whilst the tea is cooking. So it never really feels too onerous.

ShackUp · 23/07/2018 22:44

No ironing at all chez Shack. Waste of life!

TwinkleMerrick · 23/07/2018 22:44

Omg I don't iron anything! I purposely buy clothes that don't need ironing. Life is too short!! I have better things to do with my time Grin

CocoaGin70 · 23/07/2018 22:45

We've got a superking bed and I iron sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover Blush. I can't bear creased bedlinen and have been known to run the iron over it when it's on if it's creased badly overnight.

I even iron teatowels and flannels. I'll just slink back off now............

Maria1982 · 23/07/2018 22:51

I now just have super king envy!! misses point of thread
We have king size and I consider myself lucky with that after years of double only in a rented London flat

Rockhopper81 · 23/07/2018 22:54

My iron gets used most when sewing, otherwise I don’t iron anything, except for ‘event’ clothes (wedding, baptism etc.). I probably will iron school uniform when it comes to it though.

My mum bought Egyptian cotton sheets for their new bed, plus 100% cotton duvet covers and pillow cases - she hates that they crease so much. She is currently debating whether she can stand the thought of ironing bedding (she irons more than me, but not unnecessarily), or whether she needs new bedding...she admits to being a bit ‘Princess and the Pea’ about bedding! 🙃

wikedminx · 23/07/2018 22:55

Errrm.. what is this word? Iron?

To me this is a swear word!! So much so that a while back my dad was going to a funeral, and it took us an hour to find the silly thing!!
I only buy clothes that dont need ironing!

pinyata · 23/07/2018 22:59

I put the sheet on the bed and iron it on that no faffing about with the ironing board same with the duvet

yoyo1234 · 23/07/2018 22:59

I ( okay DH ) irons the pillowcases but that is it. Nothing other than smart shirts/trousers and pillowcases gets ironed in our house ( other than DC favourite t-shirts ocassionally).

earlybirdhasanap · 23/07/2018 23:05

No. I can barely hang the sheets on the line there's so much fabric. I tried ironing them once and will never try again. The iron has been in the garage for 2 years. Nothing gets ironed here anymore.

EBearhug · 23/07/2018 23:11

I do. There are few greater things in life than getting into freshly laundered bedding. No one else is going to do it for me, so I do it.

I find ironing quite soothing, making everything smooth and flat. There are far worse chores.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 23/07/2018 23:12

Yes, super king and do the pillowcases 3' wide ones, sheets and duvet covers, even the pure linen set, which, frankly, is an absolute bastard.
I just much prefer to make the bed with crisp linens and so to me, it's worth the work.

I fling the sheets and duvet covers over the bannisters and that helps with folding, then I put them on the big square lids of the range cooker, which dries and helps press them, then finish off with the iron.

If I couldn't do that, I'd probably downsize the bed.

I've always ironed everything though, that's just the way I like things.

Purpleartichoke · 23/07/2018 23:13

My iron is for craft projects only.

Bramble71 · 23/07/2018 23:18

Gawd no! It'd take all day!

Mrsramsayscat · 23/07/2018 23:18

Er.. you gave her your room. She shouldn't criticise.

Mrsramsayscat · 23/07/2018 23:19

And no, never

mummabubs · 23/07/2018 23:19

I do 🙈 But only in the evening when the tv is on so I'm distracted- sounds sad but for me getting into completely fresh and ironed bedding is just bloody amazing.

OptimisticIntrovert · 23/07/2018 23:20

I just don't iron.
Anything.
At all. Ever.
~and I am still alive~ 😲

NotUmbongoUnchained · 23/07/2018 23:22

Ironing pillowcases is my husband greatest joy in life. He can’t actually iron anything else so he has his little Pile of pillowcases that i save him Grin he does sometimes attempt the super king duvet but usually manages half before the tantrum.

bellsbuss · 23/07/2018 23:26

I do as I don't think the beds look properly made otherwise and yes ours is a super king

Namechange128 · 24/07/2018 06:09

I'm a pretty keen ironer but super king bedding is a pain! Yes to the pillows, but for the duvet cover I wait until it's on the bed and only give it a quick once over if it's really crumpled or we have guests (if we have older family staying over they get our bedroom and we share the sofa bed). Otherwise no.

AnnettePrice · 24/07/2018 06:39

Fold neatly, put at bottom of pile of linen in airing cupboard. Done.

It’s like a slow trouser press without any effort Grin

Catscakeandchocolate · 24/07/2018 07:29

I do. My mother ironed everything and I got used to getting into a crisply ironed bed growing up so need the same as an adult. DH initially thought I was crazy but now understands the madness.

vampirethriller · 24/07/2018 07:39

I don't own an iron but I used to clean for a couple who had me ironing everything. Sheets, towels, socks, underwear. The husband was famous and it really took the shine off his celebrity after I'd ironed his pants a few timesGrin
I would never iron sheets myself even if I had an iron.

Notso · 24/07/2018 07:42

I do because it looks nicer but more importantly I am convinced the heat kills the pollen. I didn't iron the fitted sheet the other day just binged it back on the bed and I was sneezing all night.
