Tesco staff member verbally abusing my step daughter

My 13 year-old step-daughter was verbally abused and threatened by a tesco staff member. They even chased her through the store. Tescos then told my step-daughter when she informed the duty manager, that they would have a word with the staff member,

I then spent 4 days calling and emailing to complain, finally getting hold of the store manager 5 days later at 7 in the evening (I had to chase them up on it)

The result of a staff member threatening a child in the store? £15 in tescos coupons and a letter apologising for the alleged abuse (it was caught on CCTV, which I requested but still haven't received, and probably never will)
the staff member is still working in the store and still makes my step-daughter uncomfortable when entering the store.

Do you think I'm being unreasonable in wanting the staff member fired? Considering I really should have involved the police?

@RunMummyRun68 I can categorically tell you that you are mistaken. Anyone can request a copy of the cctv from a Tesco store. Up until gdpr came into force it costs ten pounds, it is now free. Everyone bar the dsd will be pixelated

If you feel it's a criminal matter report it to the police, if it's an internal Tesco matter you can't dictate how their discipline procedure works but feel free not to shop there again.

Op...just report to police and do this properly. Very strange a random shop assistance will attack a customer. Cctv

newplacenofriends · 23/07/2018 17:04

First of all, the shop assistant should not have attacted your SD and you can legally demand the cctv (though it wont show anything really and will cost you).

However your SD is lying to you. No one would risk their job to attack someone who barley even knows their sister. Also if your SD barley knows the sister in question, how does she know the shop assistant is the sister of the girl in question (I barley knew the siblings of friends in secondary (unless they were best friends). It seems likely that the girl is either bullying your SD or your SD is bullying the girl and your SD is lying to cover it up.

I agree with new place.

Of course it's not okay for shop staff to abuse and chase customers.

But it's a very very unusual situation - I'm afraid I think your step daughter is probably involved in something and isn't telling you the whole story. Sorry OP.
