Dirty messy room disaster

Helpmehelpmyself1 · 20/07/2018 21:58

AIBU yo ask for some support tonight? I know I can’t sleep and I need to do this so i don’t mind doing it over night. Bare in mind, no children so ni one is living in these conditions but me.

My room is dirty and messy. The most it possibly could be. I struggle with depression and I don’t know how I’ve let it get this monumentally bad. I’m talking dirty dishes, rotting food, every thing I own and clothes covering the floor.

Please give me some support I know this is my fault but I need some encouragement to tackle this as it’s just not healthy to live in

@IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece sorry, but, we’re you living with your folks at the time? I think I remember your thread, I forget if I posted on it, and I’ve wondered occasionally how you were. Glad you’re doing well! And that you got rid of the meece!

@Helpmehelpmyself1 I hope you have a nice day today with your nice clean room.

Cupoteap · 21/07/2018 08:36

Wow you've done so well x

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 21/07/2018 08:45

coldhands yes I did Smile and still do Hmm (but such is life right now!)
I’m in a much better place now, that thread and that weekend of clearing the shit tip, completely changed me and my mindset. One of the best things I ever did and I’m hugely grateful to everyone who offered encouragement Smile

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 21/07/2018 08:50

Well done OP.

I have to be you now as my place is a mess and I’m going on holiday tomorrow.

I will channel your inner strength once I can lug myself out of bed and away from Mumsnet.

AndInOtherNews · 21/07/2018 08:51

Hope you got done what you wanted to, you'll be shattered today x

Coldhandscoldheart · 21/07/2018 09:03

Legopiece, I’m so pleased to hear it, and I wish I’d had mumsnet when I wa living in a crappy untidy bedsit & feeling hopeless :)

strawberrisc · 21/07/2018 09:19

Well done for doing all this without help (apart from MN!)

Hope it all went well,

73kittycat73 · 21/07/2018 10:26

Good luck to all those who are inspired. Hope the rest of the clean up went well OP, and huge congratulations for what you have achieved! Flowers

jazzyfizzles · 21/07/2018 10:52

How did you get on OP x

BlackeyedSusan · 21/07/2018 11:17

one bin bag of rubbish is great. reward yourself for that.

things I have done when things have been very difficult after my dad died. :

prevent it getting worse. (ie wash up the stuff you use today (or the equivalent amount of last weeks dishes if you have a backlog)

throw away todays rubbish and take it out to the bin.

wash todays laundry and put it away. (or equivalent amount)

targets, may be only three extra items a day on top of todays tasks.

write a check list of jobs that need doing and distribute them through the week.

keep the bit youhave done clean.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/07/2018 12:03

Hope you are doing OK, OP. Bag it up if you have to in the short term! Just make sure to clear the bags afterwards and don't just throw them in a cupboard to ignore like I do

BeefTomato · 21/07/2018 12:41

Well done OP! Did you finish? You have inspired me to get the bin bags out this afternoon Grin

Helpmehelpmyself1 · 21/07/2018 20:23

73kittycat73 · 21/07/2018 20:50

Oooh, exciting. Grin

Helpmehelpmyself1 · 21/07/2018 21:09

So I did finish last night at around 5/5.30am
I was very tired but so happy I was getting into a clean bed with no mess around.

I may ask for this comment to be removed due to the pictures being potentially outing if my family see the room. But want people to really see I guess the impact depression can have on how bad mess can get.

Helpmehelpmyself1 · 21/07/2018 21:10

Here’s before and after a small portion of the room.
