Ringo: drawls and swaggers Well, Ma'am, is it possible you're talking about an episode in my life that me and the missus like to call Stagecoach ?

Yes, Stagecoach. Great characters, great action, great music, great stuntwork. Great performance by Thomas Mitchell as Doc Boone, for which he won a 'Best Supporting' Oscar, the same year as he played Scarlett O'Hara's pa in GWTW.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 20/07/2018 17:22

OK this is a MIL one (book) (tv)

MIL hates me and thinks I'm a smirking bitch.

Her beloved DS is a nasty twisted little fuck who enjoys beating women and tortured his last fiancé

My last husband was in love with my brother but I enabled it because he had status and all I really want is power.

Thankfully Grandmother can always be relied upon to have a scheme up her sleeve

Seasawride · 20/07/2018 17:34

I Claudius??

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 17:37

@MissLingoss I was just about to do one on GWTW, and now you've spoiled it!!

Scarlett's MiL (of eith husband), would have had a field day with her!!

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 17:38

@Mr Stark, huh Peggy? I thought it was from the pov of Joan. I watched it a few yrs back.

MissLingoss · 20/07/2018 17:40

Oh, I'm sorry! That happened to me in the last thread, someone did the book I was about to do. Maybe you can do it later on in the thread. Some books appeared 2 or 3 times on the last thread.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 20/07/2018 17:48

Joan was the office manager when Peggy started questionz

Unevenbeard · 20/07/2018 17:50

She was 17 and liked to feel it

drudgewithagrudge · 20/07/2018 17:57

glamorous grandmother yes it's Rupert. I always had a Rupert annual for Christmas.

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 17:59

Oh no worries MissLingloss, plenty to go around!

My DS is the most saintly man, devoted to a life of God and good works, which obviously means celibacy. Despite his sacred vow to dedicate himself to God only, local women, old and young, married and unmarried, continually throw themselves at him, and have no respect for his purity and dedication. Although tbh I can understand why, as he is staggeringly handsome, and he does flirt rather a lot.

Also, bush fires.

arranfan · 20/07/2018 18:08

questionzzz - would that be Thorn Birds?

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 18:16

@arranfan Yup!

Such a ridiculous book LOL

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 20/07/2018 18:21

Mines not I Claudius!

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 18:28

@MrStark You know I was about to ask from whose perspective had you written it, bc I had read I Clavdivs many yrs ago and I couldn't relate it at all.

It sounds super-interesting- give some more clues!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 20/07/2018 18:39

It's the third book in a series

Clue 2 : (different POV, same book)

I made a political alliance with a creepy, dirty old man who lives nearby. I didn't want to but I had no choice. I offered the hand of my first born, now a Lord to one of his inbred looking daughters, but my first born went against me and married for love.

Pervy neighbour is MAD but my brother has offered to atone for his many fuck ups by taking my sons place

The marriage is now arranged, and obviously everything will go according to plan

Scheheramard · 20/07/2018 18:48

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood You must be my sister or something... Game of Thrones

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 20/07/2018 18:49

Grin technically correct but it's Storm Of Swords, the best of the books

Tanith · 20/07/2018 18:50

Book and film:

I’m worried for my new neighbour. He’s a very well spoken man, quite an asset to the neighbourhood - or he would be, if we saw more of him.

He does go out from time to time, mostly in the evening on his motorbike, though I think he drives a car, too. Usually brings back some parcel or other and disappears inside.

Anyway, it’s tonight I’m worrying about. I spent a while in the garden, chatting to my neighbour over the milk bottles. Usually one of our other neighbours comes and joins us, but he, his wife and kid all went away suddenly this morning.

I’m sure I’ve seen shapes moving in their house, though. And I saw dark shapes creeping up my well-spoken neighbour’s back garden just now!

Should I warn him, do you think? You can’t be too careful with all these CND protesters around.

questionzzz · 20/07/2018 19:21

@Tanith it is reminding me of Rear WIndow even though I'm sure it's not (no kids, and the film was based on a short story).

Tanith · 20/07/2018 19:44

More recent than that, Question Smile

I owe you an apology, by the way. I was scanning through the last thread and realised I completely missed your Philip Roth the page before I posted mine! Blush
