D-this, D-that, D-the other?

Am I the only one who finds
D-this and D-that really confusing?

There are so, so many Ds that threads (certainly on here) are so hard to follow.
What's wrong with husband, daughter, wife, mother etc etc?

I mean? Sometimes, it's not even a 'dear' someone a person is talking about. It's even got to the point where it's 'D-ex Husband' or 'D-Mother I would not cross the road to spit on'.

So, apart from the 'D' not always (or even usually) being true, it makes threads so very hard to follow.

Or, is it just DM?

Yes, so so many people have expressed exasperation with it. It is hard to work out often times for e.g DS could be Sister or Son, DF could be Fiance, Father or Friend. I will always try to write it out in full, after all, what is one extra word, when you've written 5 fuking paragraphs? I agree with JaneDoe9000 that it is very immature.

@AuntieStella Who are you to say what makes a community? There are posters on here who have been here for many years, and they also hate the acronyms. So I suggest you are absolutely wrong when you say the acronyms are part of the community. Clearly for many long-term posters, it is not.

As for TL:DR I always knew that as Too Long: Didn't Read. At least in the other messageboards I am on, that's what it means.

I loathe them and refuse to use them. You're entirely reasonable, OP.

If it amuses you, when I first joined I though STBXH was short for “Shoot the bastard ex-husband

And I’ve been reading it as “Stab-in-The-Back eX- Husband “ which I realise doesn’t actually make sense BlushConfused
