To feel sickened that this man is being referred to in this way (WARNING UPSETTING CONTENT)

This man raped a three month old baby boy to the point where the baby needed corrective surgery.

He is now in a women’s prison in Canada where he has beaten up a female inmate.

THIS is where self ID leads. Men like this being incarcerated with women and their crimes being counted as female.

Go on, Mumsnet, delete me for deliberately misgendering a male baby rapist.

THIS.IS.A.MAN.

Perhaps this story will illustrate why feminists are so up in arms about self ID.

I would love to see even the staunchest anti-women transactivist tell me that this person is a woman and that they belong in a women’s prison.

If a violent criminal declared that they didn't feel 40 years old, they felt 14, they wouldn't be placed in a young offenders centre.

also seem to think XY is a single chromosome

Shall we tear up human rights?

You already have, for women.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 18/07/2018 19:04

also, chromosomes are made of DNA, you seem to think the opposite?

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 18/07/2018 19:06

basically, your "thought experiment" proves you don't have so much as half a clue what you are talking about

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/07/2018 19:07

As a thought experiment, if a gene therapy where to be invented that was able to introduce, sustain and proliferate the XY chromosome to a transwomans DNA would that make them more authentic?

Walk me through how that would work. Bearing in mind there is no ‘XY chromosome’.

Amalfimamma · 18/07/2018 19:08

The earlier hearing mentioned was in November 2017

The earlier board decision said it was concerned that Desousa was unable to manager her anger after she flung another inmate by her hair, then kicked her in the face.

LunaTrap · 18/07/2018 19:09

The fact is you can name Hindley so quickly because she is so rare. She also carried out her crimes with a man. I couldn't name a woman in the UK who had committed child sex assault and murder all by herself. If asked to name a man I wouldn't know where to start, there are so many. You probably have more men committing those crimes within a time period of a few months than the number of women ever, I would imagine.

FermatsTheorem · 18/07/2018 19:09

The earlier board decision said it was concerned that Desousa was unable to manager her anger after she flung another inmate by her hair, then kicked her in the face.

Now that looks like pretty inhumane treatment of the woman on the receiving end of that attack. Care to explain why it's okay to subject her to inhumane treatment, Walking?

VickyEadie · 18/07/2018 19:10

So if it is female to male trans - they are ok to go into female jails because they are biologically female. If they attack a female prisoner - then it isn't rape as it isn't a real penis. Also they have the same strength and wouldn't sexually attack anyway because they are not socially conditioned to do so.

No one is arguing that women's prisons are devoid of violence. You seem, however, to imagine that it's perfectly fine to stick as many male-bodied prisoners - many of whom retain their penises - into women's prisons - as is demanded by male offenders and women should have to put up with it.

We're arguing it's against these women's human rights to put them into that sort of danger.

I thought I read somewhere that currently in the UK there isn't a single transman (female) in prison. Does anyone know if this is true?

We dont know if there is vulnerable women in there. It could be a high security prison with other dangerous and violent women

It's a psychiatric hospital so I'd hazard a guess that yes, there are vulnerable women in there

Walkingdeadfangirl · 18/07/2018 19:17

FermatsTheorem - non-payment of a TV licence or handling stolen goods is theft, if a woman stole from me I would want them punished but I would rather leave the state to determine the punishment because I would be to emotional/biased to make the right decision.

But I do not think they would be sharing showers with violent rapists, that is why we have different categories of prisons, for violent and non violent offenders. I would be flabberghasted if this ever happened.

In this case I think the best people to make the call is the judge/prison service who know all the details and I tend to think this person is kept in a secure wing and is not in the main circulation with other violent women in the facility.

If this person is to ever be released they need treatment/help/rehabilitation, do you really think a transwoman will get that in a 'male' or a 'female' prison?

How about you answer a question - If a vegan, pacifist, Buddhist fully transitioned transman for their whole lives handles stolen goods is sent to prison. Should they have to share a shower & cell will a male rapist?

Fromage · 18/07/2018 19:18

Trans prisons would solve the problem.

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/07/2018 19:18

We dont know if there is vulnerable women in there. It could be a high security prison with other dangerous and violent women

Oh ok. So only nice prisoners dont get raped? The violent ones can just take their chances then? How do we judge which ones are which?

TheGoldenWolfFleece · 18/07/2018 19:19

If not then what is the alternative, trans prisons?

Sounds good to me. Why not?

UpstartCrow · 18/07/2018 19:21

Separate wings in prisons, as they do now for other at risk prisoners.

There is no excuse for putting violent prisoners in with women.

Storminamug · 18/07/2018 19:24

Trans prisoners = murdering, rapists. Female prisoners = people who didn't pay their TV license.
