AIBU to say it drives me potty?

You have -

  • the "alright hon" brigade who share any old shit and everything is "amazing babe"
  • the "informer" who likes to be able to be the first to break all school news to everyone even though it has been emailed
  • the "school can do no wrong brigade" who if anyone questions the logic of anything the school are doing generally pounce and accuse others of being unsupportive
  • the "on it all day" who comment on everything
  • the "teacher brigade" mum teachers who like to give a school view on everything without actually taking on board what someone has just asked
  • the "wind up merchant" who comments just to poke the "alright hon" monotony
  • the "what's for lunch" brigade every day at 8.55 am - read the bloody menu!

Please add to the list any characters I have missed.

And yes I have left it before but I was missing too much actual useful info. I would just like it if it could be reduced to actual useful information like school is shut it's snowing! (Somehow it breaks on here before the official website)

Rant over.

Alpha mum 🤣
She works, does the school run, manages to go to the gym, always looks immaculate, has a hot hubby, talks the loudest and everyone follows her!! (I'm definitely not an alpha mum!)

Burratorchildhood · 20/07/2018 11:14

Kingkiller that's interesting as I am a teacher mum too.

welliesandwinemum · 20/07/2018 11:51

We are now using Classlist at our school for lots of these reasons. Does anyone else use it? You can decide what notifications to get so you don't get 20 notifications about the teacher's present! Lots of parents like it because they can choose not to share their contact details if they don't want to - but can still message each other. I've sorted out to share the cub run and football club run and this year's Year 6 leavers do on it. www.classlist.com

Nerdybeethoven · 20/07/2018 12:02

Mmmmm. So it's now in the Daily Fail. That could be outing. I don't know if the school Mums I've slagged off are Mumsnetters (I would much doubt it) but I'm pretty sure they're all DF readers! Ah well ….

Butteredparsn1ps · 20/07/2018 15:50

I find WA makes communication worse not better though, mainly due to the aforementioned characters.

The school & PTA send out regular emails containing all relevant factual information.

Thanks to can't-be-arsed-to-read -the-newsletter-Mum and like-to-share-but-not-worried-about-checking-facts-Mum we have the most amazing Misinformation repeated as gospel. Donald J Trump has nothing on alternative facts compared with School WhatsApp.

Arse, well sorry Steph if you've read this...Blush

follymum2018 · 20/07/2018 16:28

welliesandwinemum Classlist is a bit hard to use for some though. We’ve had a TA at nursery send a message to a mum obviously not meant for her and a mum talking about her MH issues to the entire school!

peoplearemean · 20/07/2018 16:43

@planetsweet omg made the Daily Mail 👊🏻 hysterical 😂😂😂

And to add current whatsapp messages doing the rounds thanking the gift organisers and gift organiser basking in "it was nothing" glory - I'm sure it is the same for many!

*is glad she's a social outcast and not in any of these groups because she wasn't born in this godforsaken village.
There was a Facebook page but it got deleted during "ParentPay-gate" (kids were getting charged for school meals when they weren't meant to for about two weeks, school said it was Parentpays fault, Parent pay said schools fault, everyone got annoyed).

Carriecakes80 · 22/07/2018 18:24

Home ed here, so none of that shit thank Buddha. lol

All the parents I meet up with are lovely relaxed mums & dads who have no need to compete lol, because we're all learning and doing different things. Much more relaxed than the parents I used to meet when my kids went to school!

Undercoverbanana and Attic14 agree wit you both.

Think it’s more like a “misery breeds company” thing. Info in newsletters and emails so you only have to read these instead of being part of group who come across as a blind leading the blind in most chats. I don’t think all are like this but it’s like a group for disorganised people. easier to read the emails and make a note right away of the things that affect your DC as it’s relayed. Works for us.
