Ok so I am stuck in hospital again waiting on tests results which may mean I need surgery again for the 4th time in 8 weeks 😔

Stuck on hospital WI-FI so no steaming Netflix or you tube 😖

So can you lovely lot keep me entertained?

I will also add a few of mine too!

There is a podcast called Death in Ice Valley you might enjoy if you can stream/listen to that, shouldn’t use too much wifi?

amymel2016 · 17/07/2018 13:54

Hope all goes ok OP

I love reading about time slips exemplore.com/paranormal/The-Liverpool-Time-Slips-The-True-Story-Of-Mysterious-Occurences-In-Bold-Street

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2018 13:55

They're there, can you not see them? Wooooo

user1471459936 · 17/07/2018 13:55

I read this as "Womble stories".... I'm in the wrong place.

DinaCaliente · 17/07/2018 13:57

Read up on the Golden State Killer/East Area Rapist/Visalia Ransacker (all the same person).

He committed something like 120 burglaries, 50 plus rapes and 12 murders in the 70's and 80's.

He was once a police officer.

They've recently arrested him 40 years after his last murder due to inputting his DNA sample in a genealogy website.

DinaCaliente · 17/07/2018 13:58

Sorry, 30 odd years after.

WorryingWombat · 17/07/2018 13:59

Thank you @amymel2016 off to get lost in timeslips for a while! 😁

I'm stuck in hospital too so great timing for this thread, I'm particularly fed up today so I could do with being entertained.

EnglishRose13 · 17/07/2018 14:10

Is this the type of reading you're after?

tkband3 · 17/07/2018 14:11

Podcasts to try (I love them!):

Beyond Reasonable Doubt
Fortunately with Jane Garvey and Fi Glover (hilarious)
Standard Issue Gigcasts (the magazine shows can be great, but I find them a bit long sometimes, but the gigcasts are fantastic.)
My dad wrote a porno (I keep meaning to listen to this one as it's mean to be hilarious)
Kermode and Mayo's film review show - even if their recommendations are out of date, it's great listening and there are some good interviews too.
Walking the dog with Emily Dean (interviews with people while they walk their dogs - surprisingly good!)
Friday night comedy (Radio 4 - I like the News Quiz best and again, doesn't matter if they're out of date...they're still funny)

Hope you're back on your feet and out of hospital soon.

WorryingWombat · 17/07/2018 14:16

Hey @ihavebrillohair I love your name! Because I absolutely have brillo hair! Due to the last surgery (shunt revision) last weds I have not been allowed to wash my hair yet!! 🤢😁

How are you finding hospital life? Hope your doing ok

FlaviaAlbia · 17/07/2018 14:20

My usual ones are starting on the BBC esryh section and following links
www.bbc.co.uk/earth/story/20160706-in-siberia-in-1908-a-huge-explosion-came-out-of-nowhere

That and googling myths and legends of various countries. I love those.

FlaviaAlbia · 17/07/2018 14:21

esryh?! Earth...

EnglishRose13 · 17/07/2018 16:39

You're welcome. I love this kind of stuff.

Andromeida59 · 17/07/2018 19:05

If you have access to the hospital t.v. they tend to have audio books. I'd always listen to them when I was stuck in hospital.

Hexcode16 · 17/07/2018 19:11

Lots of woo here :

www.ancient-code.com

Wish you better OPSmile

Hexcode16 · 17/07/2018 19:13

Hmm not sure that counts as woo but it’s interesting and silly and worth a look if you’re bored.Smile

Roussette · 17/07/2018 19:20

Worrying this isn't a podcast or a story but a total addictive geography thing... bear with me, while I explain!

You press the button and you are taken somewhere in the world... could be anywhere via google maps

You have to navigate around to try and find out where you are, looking at road signs, style of cars houses etc, or shop windows or basically anything!

You click on a world map where you think you might be. My finest moment was to be 200 miles from the correct spot!

Warning warning - it is totally addictive Smile

Good luck with your hospital stay Flowers

Here is the link

seizethecuttlefish · 17/07/2018 19:22

I tend to read something and then do what I call a "wiki wander" on good old Wikipedia. Try Abraham Lincoln. You then get his assassination, conspiracy theories about it, his funeral train and ghost stuff. I love a bit of spooky! I then ended up on civil war photographs. History of photography. The billy the kid photo. Victorian death photography. The catacombs: Odessa and capuchin monks....I lost days! Dyatolov (not sure of my spelling) Pass is a good one too. Hope you get some good news with your results.

Achangeisadgoodasarest · 17/07/2018 19:59

@rousette I just clicked on your link out of curiosity, and guessed 169 miles away from the location on the first try! Unbelievable, I’ve never even been to South Africa Grin

I won’t play again now, I’ve already aced it.

OP I hope there’s enough to keep you occupied here, and hope you’re on the mend soon Flowers

Roussette · 17/07/2018 20:03

Wow! That's incredible AChange but I did just get Myanmmar... even though I have been there, it was pure guesswork! (1,024 miles out though, it's a big country!)
