Im a customer.

Girl has come in with hair down to her bum.

Requested it's cut to the collar bone.

Stylist tied it in little pony fails and cut removed the bands and it's up her neck the girl hasn't seen it properly yet and it looks slightly longer in the front. They have taken her over to wash her hair.

Omg omg omg shes going to go mad! She's just returned from basin whilst I'm typing! That is not collorbone length they have fucking bobbed her!!

Pipeup - thatw as nice of you she probabaly feel better and mor ein control for actually managing to say something.

diddl I wondered that as well as I mangange it for my DDs - I also generally get length about right as I expect their hair to bounce up a bit a factor it in.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 14:12

😂

Brilliant.

speakingwoman · 17/07/2018 14:12

classic thread OP!

M3lon · 17/07/2018 14:16

cool thread - glad she got some money off and products!

Well done OP

Leesa65 · 17/07/2018 14:21

At age 11 I had waist length , very thick brown hair.

Decided on a Purdey cut (some of you, I hope, will remember The New Avengers) which was basically a very short bob with a full fringe .
Looked fantastic on Joanna Lumley, with her finer hair , but when I had mine done it looked like a helmet . Was horrible as my hair was too thick.
But that was MY choice.
Feel sorry for the girl .

BoomBoomsCousin · 17/07/2018 14:22

thecatsthecats I suspect it wasn;t that she thought she knew better than you about what would suit you, it was that she knew better than you about her lack of skill but felt unable to say so.

bigredbed · 17/07/2018 14:22

itsquidstella, is that the one opposite the shell garage? 😂...they gave/give everyone a Dudley Moore haircut.

Leesa65 · 17/07/2018 14:22

The Purdey cut in question

Shits about to go down in the salon.
SirVixofVixHall · 17/07/2018 14:24

I think the stylist mixed up collarbone and jawbone. As pp said, you’d expect someone to say “shoulder length” rather than collarbone.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 17/07/2018 14:24

Just after my first child was born (and the day before his baptism) I went to the hairdresser and asked for my long hair to be cut short. I wasn't really paying attention to what the hairdresser was doing, but I thought it was really odd when she refused to blowdry my hair, saying she didn't have time. I was quite quickly ushered out and there was none of the usual waving about of mirrors.
I understood better when I got home and my hair had started to dry. I had short hair all right. My fringe was less than an inch long and the rest was what I can only describe as in the style of a Medieval peasant.
That was 16 years ago and I haven't been to a hairdresser since. Fortunately Mr Dribble is a dab hand with the scissors.

SoupDragon · 17/07/2018 14:25

Sounds like she got a good result in the end.

There’s always th chance she’ll decide she likes it but if not, as she did, it will grow. At least it’s not a shit haircut as well!!

GirlDownUnder · 17/07/2018 14:26

OP you did well :)
I would not have been too British!

ShotsFired your post proper made me lol 😂

witchofzog · 17/07/2018 14:27

Fuck that Dribble. There is a mistake and downright devious. I would have been back to kick off at that one

Good update op. Well done for speaking up

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 17/07/2018 14:28

This is why I will not go to a salon. Is she okay?

TheGoldenWolfFleece · 17/07/2018 14:29

oh look what a surprise, the op and all the grown women on this thread being so over dramatic about it and the woman whose hair it actually is, manages to behave like an adult. All this "omg, don't let her pay, stand up for her" bollocks - i guess in real life people recognise that its not really a big deal to have a haircut that isn't exactly what you intended. It certainly doesn't sound like this woman needed someone to stand up for her.

AjasLipstick · 17/07/2018 14:30

I went for a short cut and ended up with a bastard long bob! Stupid woman would NOT do what I wanted but could give no reason!

starryeyed19 · 17/07/2018 14:31

Good for you, OP

3GreenBottles · 17/07/2018 14:31

She went home and cried, GoldenWolf. All the grown women on this thread know it. Biscuit

diddl · 17/07/2018 14:32

"I think the stylist mixed up collarbone and jawbone."

What a shame they couldn't be bothered to clarify.

TheGoldenWolfFleece · 17/07/2018 14:32

@3GreenBottles

Are you always this dramatic?

Lethaldrizzle · 17/07/2018 14:32

But it's just hair!

paceyswife · 17/07/2018 14:33

Medieval peasant Grin

3GreenBottles · 17/07/2018 14:34

I was far more 'dramatic' when I got the Pat Sharpe haircut mentioned upthread.

DeadButDelicious · 17/07/2018 14:34

I've just had a botch job fixed. My hair is shaved all round the sides and long on top, I can assure you it looks better than it sounds. I'd been growing the long section out to chin length so that when I wear it down it just looks like I have a bob and was in simply to get my undercut shaved ready for colouring and I noticed my ends were looking a little worse for wear so I asked the hairdresser for a little trim to just tidy them up.

Well. What I actually got was an extremely blunt cut with one giant step layer in it that she had hacked at with thinning scissors. To be fair she did a good job at hiding it with the blow dry but it was bad. Very bad. I didn't complain. Should have. But there you go. I've had to have all the hair I'd grown cut short again to fix it.

I'm glad that she's been compensated. I hope the stylist has learnt a lesson. It's only hair but a bad cut can be really upsetting.

BlameItOnTheNeon · 17/07/2018 14:36

GoldenWolf if you were at the grocers, and you asked for apples and were presented with a bag of tomatoes, you wouldn't smile and pay, why should you when the hairdresser makes a mistake? Confused Hmm
