The Trump-Putin Summit in Helsinki, coming so soon after Trump’s ally-crumbling display in Britain and at the EU, is still sinking in. Let’s just say: he’s in all kinds of shit. All the kompromat.

We are looking for some good mariachi bands to play outside the White House around Trump’s bedtime. If you have any recommendations please let us know. Grin

'President Donald Trump seemingly questioned the United States' commitment to defending all NATO allies in an interview that aired Tuesday evening.

At the end of a major international trip with three stops a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, a visit to the United Kingdom and the latest NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium Trump spoke with Fox News' Tucker Carlson, where he appeared to waver on whether the US would come to the defense of all NATO member countries.
NATO requires all members to help defend fellow member nations that have been attacked, which Carlson noted to Trump.
"Why should my son go to Montenegro to defend it from attack?" Carlson inquired.
Trump responded: "I've asked the same question. Montenegro is a tiny country with very strong people. ... They are very strong people. They are very aggressive people, they may get aggressive, and congratulations, you are in World War III."
"I understand, but that's the way it was set up," he continued. "Don't forget, I just got here a little more than a year and a half ago, but I took over the conversation three or four days ago and I said you have to pay."
While at the NATO summit last week, Trump signed the NATO communique, which explicitly endorsed Article 5.
"Any attack against one Ally will be regarded as an attack against us all, as set out in Article 5 of the Washington Treaty," the communique reads.
In 2017, Trump said he agreed with the commitment that members will come to one another's aid if they're attacked, which is Article 5 of the NATO charter. Article 5 has been invoked only once -- by the United States after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
"I am committing the United States to Article 5," Trump said at the time.
"And certainly we are there to protect," he then added, saying this is why the US is "paying the kind of money necessary to have that force."
"Yes, absolutely I would be committed to Article 5," he said at the time.'

White House releases dire deficit projections as Trump and GOP begin push for more tax cuts
thinkprogress.org/trump-republicans-tax-cuts-budget-deficit-0ee5e4bfb5c6/

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released new projections on Wednesday morning showing that the federal budget deficit will hit nearly $900 billion this year, and will top $1 trillion next year.

The OMB’s latest projections show that the federal debt situation is also not great.

The new projections come while the Trump administration and House Republicans are mobilizing to try and get another round of tax cuts passed before November’s election — which would likely push the deficit even higher.

The White House OMB now projects the deficit will rocket to $890B this year and top $1T through 2021.
cc, uh, Larry Kudlow.

Federal debt will hit $25 Trillion in fiscal 2021 - four full fiscal years after Trump took office - under his OMB's own estimates.

Rule of thumb: $1 trillion is about $3,000 more borrowed for every person in the United States. Every year.

These projections are about conscious choices, not a sudden turn in the economy like 2008. Trump signed laws passed by Congress lowering tax rates and increasing spending. The rest is math.

This is Larry Kudlow 3 weeks ago! in his walkback of false claim the deficit is coming down rapidly telling @EamonJavers he still thought it would come down in 2018:

Larry Kudlow used to work at OMB.

Don't think there's ever been a non-recession year when the deficit jumped by $225 billion - but that's what's happening this year.

Tucker Carlson: Trump ‘bowed’ to US intel agencies like a ‘hostage’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Tuesday that President Trump "bowed" before U.S. intelligence agencies by claiming he misspoke when he refused to denounce Russian election interference during a press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"As the rage storm swirled, the president bowed to the inevitable, genuflecting before U.S. intelligence agencies whose judgment must never be questioned," Carlson said on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

He added that Trump "recited the now obligatory oath of loyalty to the spy bureaucrats now in charge of our country," before playing a clip of Trump walking back comments he made on Monday while appearing next to Putin in Finland.

The repugs haven't cared about the deficit/national debt since Reaganomics, except when Dems hold power, of course.

'A Russian woman charged this week with serving as a foreign agent has been in regular contact with Russian intelligence, the Justice Department says, and she attempted to offer sex in exchange for a position with an organization she targeted.

Prosecutors included that information in court documents as part of their request that Maria Butina be detained ahead of her trial because they say she is a "serious" flight risk.'

I know I'm late on this... but wasn't it Montenegro's president that Scrotus shoved out of the way last year?

More good news for transparency in political funding:

'The decision landed the same day as the Justice Department announced the arrest of Maria Butina, a Russian national with NRA ties who is accused of trying to influence US politics. Ethics experts say Treasury’s maneuver will make identifying activities like those Butina has been accused of even harder to track'
