More Time in Bed or Always Shower?

strawberrisc · 17/07/2018 07:04

For reasons I can’t go into (outing for sure!) I got little sleep last night andd have a knackering day ahead in work. AIBU to have a little extra time in bed and sacrifice a shower for (as Nessa would say in Gavin and Stacey) a personal wash? I also have dry shampoo!

Loopytiles who threw you nuts?

I rarely get much sleep and I'm constantly shattered but I always shower, every day.
If you're not going anywhere then it's up to you I guess! Hope you get some decent shut eye tonight though, it is a horrible feeling.

quince2figs · 17/07/2018 07:37

Love the term “personal wash”

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/07/2018 07:38

Unless the reason for lack of sleep was wild and sweaty sex I expect you’ll scrub up ok. But I’d jump in the shower as that’s as quick as a wash - I can be in and out in lightening speed and tie my wet hair back if it’s long so no need to style.

BoomBoomsCousin · 17/07/2018 07:40

OP YABU nevertheless, I will support you simply for your response to loopytiles.

TheRoadLessRocky · 17/07/2018 07:43

By the time you've filled the sink and washed all over with soapy water then rinsed all over with clean water you might as well have just stepped in rhe shower, soap Ed up and rinsed off. I've just had a shower with no hair washing and timed it - 1 min 26 seconds. Even if a sink wash only took 30 seconds, you've gained 56 seconds in bed, hardly going to alleviate any tiredness.

Fresta · 17/07/2018 07:47

Are you Thereasa May?

Fintress · 17/07/2018 07:48

The amount of time you've been on mumsnet you could have had a power nap!

Ilovemypantry · 17/07/2018 07:48

Sorry but struggling to understand why, if you’re awake and posting on MN, you don’t just get up and jump in the shower 🤔

MoonsAndJunes · 17/07/2018 07:48

Takes longer to wash all over with flannel than it does to get in the shower.
Just get in the shower OP.

Who doesn't shower everyday nowadays? ----

strawberrisc · 17/07/2018 07:50

Fintress I can’t ever power nap. I’d sleep through any alarm!

Don’t worry everyone. Total one off. I assure you!

No she isn’t. I’m Theresa May.

Please. Pretty please. Pretty pretty please. Spell my name right. Please.

mmmgoats · 17/07/2018 08:02

I couldn’t function without a shower because it wakes me up properly otherwise I feel like I’m in a bleary fog all day.

OP genuinely
confused as to where this “extra” sleep is coming from if you’re on mumsnet?
Surely awake now so instead of asking the world this question (which in this heat you probably knew people would get a bit outraged about) you could have had a shower AND a personal
wash and done a little dance around the bathroom by now...

LittleRen · 17/07/2018 08:06

Just to jump in... in answer to where is is cold right now. I am in the north west and it’s 15 degrees, slept with windows shut last night for the first time in months. After the heatwave it feels freezing.

strawberrisc · 17/07/2018 08:12

mmmgoats I never said extra sleep. I said extra time in bed. Reading through these amazing threads! Basically, a bit of 'me time'.

OP posts:
LittleRen · 17/07/2018 08:12

Also I think the question was where is it so not not cold Blush. To answer the question definitely shower... I just had a 2 minute shower and feel much better for it.

speakout · 17/07/2018 08:13

Ten degrees here- thinking I may need more clothes on today.

Scotland.

continuallychargingmyphone · 17/07/2018 08:15

I’m sure you don’t stink, but there is a smell unwashed bodies have which isn’t lovely

strawberrisc · 17/07/2018 08:16

I admit...just got to work and am worried I might smell a bit like a charity shop!

AllTheNameChanges · 17/07/2018 08:19

Shower always. I can shower quickly, I find it much quicker and easier than trying to wash sufficiently in a sink, especially in this heat. Shower doesn't have to mean 20 minutes. I can do it in 5 including washing my hair. It also wakes me up. I am currently functioning much better than I was before I got in the the shower 10 mins ago and I'm washed and dressed.

AgentHannahWells · 17/07/2018 08:20

Were you too busy being Katie Hatekins to sleep? Never knew you had a conscience!! Don't bother showering if that's who you are. People will always turn their nose up at you.

strawberrisc · 17/07/2018 08:21
