To think those loose flowery trousers that are so popular make even the slim look like they have an arse of an elephant?

Aw man, there’s so many typos there I may have to ask for it to be deleted...... ‘arse looked like two....’ Confused

calzone · 16/07/2018 08:56

Dh told me my flowery trousers made my bum look big but I told him I didn’t care!!!

AgentHannahWells · 16/07/2018 08:57

I know what you mean, if I want to look slim I can't wear patterned trousers or jumpsuits. But they do look nice. I was thinking maybe at last this is a comfy cheery fashion for women's benefit rather than for men's male gaze. In which case HOORAY! Then I read big bums are in fashion so I guess my happiness was premature and we haven't smashed the patriarchy yet. Dammit.

SoupDragon · 16/07/2018 08:58

It’s interesting... on the one hand you have threads that say “no one looks at how you look in shorts” and on the other you have this.

scottishdiem · 16/07/2018 09:00

Mumsnet - men should stop looking at women and making judgements.
Other Mumsnet - look that the elephantine arse on her! Shouldnt be allowed!

Yeah and people wonder why men cant get these things right.

wagil · 16/07/2018 09:01

They hide cellulite really well though, which balances out the arse enlargement.

TressiliansStone · 16/07/2018 09:01

I am over the moon these are back in! I was known in my yoof as "curtain trousers", such was my penchant for them.

Disclaimer: I have no arse at all and need all the help I can get pretending there's anything there.

feathermucker · 16/07/2018 09:02

Not sure of your point really tbh. I love mine; they're comfortable and the need to point out that people's asses look big is bizarre.

flower76 · 16/07/2018 09:04

You're right they look awful and pyjama like

bridgetreilly · 16/07/2018 09:05

They aren't the worst, though. I have yet to see a single person look good in those stripey trousers that are around at the moment.

Slartybartfast · 16/07/2018 09:07

stripey? pinstripe? i have seen just a couple of admittedly slim teens wear them and I have total envy

Right I'm skinny and in desperate need of an arse. Someone recommend me some big elephant bum illusion trousers please?

OkMaybeNot · 16/07/2018 09:08

I think they make you look like you're wearing pyjamas.

When they first started popping up I knocked on my friend's door so we could do the school run together and she was wearing a pair. I asked if she was ok, did she need me to take her DS to school for her Blush she said "no I'm fine, why's that?" and I realised she wasn't still in her pyjamas, they were her clothes.

peachgreen · 16/07/2018 09:08

I spent 30 years being uncomfortable in a vain attempt to try and look thin. Now that I dress for comfort and to be able to move around easily with my daughter I can see how much of life I missed out on by being so trussed up and in discomfort all the time. So hooray for floral trousers and elephant bums.

TheNavigator · 16/07/2018 09:11

They are definitely more functional than aesthetic, so it depends on whether what you look like matters to you, I guess. I would never wear them, but I am tiny and would look swamped. My leggy teen can wear them and look great, but she would look great in a tattie sack.

I do think we are allowed to point out items of clothing we consider ugly or unflattering, it is not a personal attack and the OP didn't say people shouldn't wear such trousers, just pointed out they aren't the bonniest choice.

Thymelord · 16/07/2018 09:12

I think I am wearing some today, they aren't flowery they are stripey and do look a lot like pyjamas but they're comfy and it's hot in my office! I'll try to see what my arse looks like next time I go down to the bathroom.

Slartybartfast · 16/07/2018 09:13

no geek, hang on

They are a bit peculiar, but I think normal style rules have been suspended due to the heat. Well all be wearing muumuus by August.

GameOfMinges · 16/07/2018 09:14

I've seen some skinny girls wearing them who look like they've got impressive back, which I presumed was part of the attraction.

FuzzyCustard · 16/07/2018 09:14

Elephants are fabulous creatures. We should all be more elephant.

My arse looks big in anything ( because it is)
So I might as well be comfy

Slartybartfast · 16/07/2018 09:19

most of the models are size 8, and most don't show the model wearing them from the back view.

anyway, peachy is a good expression to describe the bottom
