Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Were he photos deleted?

OP, you won't like Birmingham - in some areas round here people park like your CF neighbours as a normal thing to do! I once got stuck on a road because there were so many cars triple parked (a car either side of the road and then one next to a car/in the middle of the road, effectively making it one way)

Hope you're going somewhere nice in the city like where I live Wink

flumpybear · 18/07/2018 07:06

I can't believe how ridiculous they're being now, and also nasty regarding meddling with the landlord if NNDN
Bloody horrible entitled nasty people! I hope your NNDN sends a pic of of the current parking situation to her landlord to see what she has to put up with! I'd be appalled for my tenant if I was the landlord

sendcoffee · 18/07/2018 07:15

@JennaTools I had a feeling you'd be in my area somewhere! Don't know why, just a hunch!
I'm in BH7.

wink1970 · 18/07/2018 07:31

I too have had a good PSCO experience; try them.

APermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 18/07/2018 07:38

BH16 here, I’ve got a car you can borrow!

EnglishRose13 · 18/07/2018 08:05

Sorry to derail but what was the nasty end to the Army Dad thread? I can't see an update!

ivykaty44 · 18/07/2018 08:08

If this is a Birmingham parking issue you need to get on twitter and find WEst midland traffic cops - they are brilliant

To be honest though

I’d just erect a garden shed in the allotted space... no different to storing a car...

TheExamStartsNow · 18/07/2018 08:46

Sorry to be a party pooper, but has anyone actually checked that the neighbour definitely doesn't own that bit? You said earlier that he said something along the lines of his property including that bit - have you looked at the land registry to see if he's telling the truth?
I think you can take a look at land registry online quite cheaply. if he is mistaken or lying, you can print it out and show him he doesn't own it, and might help resolve this.

I'm so excited a parking thread has happened near me!!! Looks like you're in a very nice area of Poole. I'm BH9 😁

imnotreally · 18/07/2018 08:55

Hope you got away ok this morning OP.

Over50andfab · 18/07/2018 08:56

If the road is new build houses speak to whoever is in charge and request parking restriction be put in place at the end. The cars might also be blocking access for buggies and wheelchairs to access the grassy bit.

blackfootdaisy · 18/07/2018 09:06

It’s not a new build over50andfab unfortunately

Esspee · 18/07/2018 09:07

Our title deeds show that we own the land up to the middle of the road but as the road is maintained by the council I can't fence it off or claim parking rights.
Could this be the situation here?

hellsbellsmelons · 18/07/2018 09:18

Just seen this.
OP you are the diagram QUEEN!!!!!

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 18/07/2018 09:21

Definitely contact your MP and local councillor. They have a duty to respond, at the very least, and some are often quite keen to be the one seen to resolve such issues.

SpongeBobGrannyPants · 18/07/2018 09:22

And definitely highlight the struggles of the person with the mobility scooter!

smileandwave12 · 18/07/2018 09:24

yes EnglishRose13 I wondered that to! can anyone post link please? army dad? thank you! Smile

happypoobum · 18/07/2018 09:26

Of course Birmingham is up north

Well this isn't going to just go away is it? I agree with calling 101 and asking police to speak to Cunty Neighbour and explain that he is blocking your access to your drive and cannot park over the dropped kerb.

The council sound useless. I would call them/send more photos/involve local councillors. Flowers

GrumbleBumble · 18/07/2018 09:27

I think you need to print the photo of you Mum's car and write on it

"this is why I can't park on my drive - had to leave at 5am on Wednesday so couldn't risk being trapped on my drive by your total lack of consideration and strange belief that you own the road"

Then stick it on each and everyone of their vehicles when you get back.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/07/2018 10:08

I'm surprised at Council saying that it's ok to partially block a dropped curb and that can only be ticketed if the car completely blocked the curb

eddielizzard · 18/07/2018 10:20

I wonder if it's worth approaching mobility scooter man and explain the situation to him. He might be willing to demonstrate what a pain getting through the cars to the public footpath is, so that you can video it and send it to your councillor. The council clearly aren't going to do it. You have to galvanise the powers that be! Apart from causing problems to you, they're impeding the access of public facilities (footpath) by those requiring wheelchairs and pushchairs. I bet a double buggy wouldn't be able to get through?

GruffaIo · 18/07/2018 10:22

@BreakfastAtSquiffanys - at our old house, the council used to say the same, saying that that bit of the pavement was zoned for on-pavement parking. But, as I told them many times, it wasn't for the section I was complaining about. Plus if it's zoned that way, there should be white lines on the pavement. Often, it's about getting someone smart enough at the council to pay attention to the detail of the complaint.

AgathaF · 18/07/2018 10:22

Birmingham up north!!!! It's the midlands. Nothing north about that.
