Parking situation on my new road.

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 22:43

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Shock fuckers!! “Allocated space”??? Deluded pricks. Did you get in touch with their estate agent? I would and Insist the EA clarify what their parking entitlement consists of, i.e; their drive!!

LuluBellaBlue · 17/07/2018 22:44

Shamelessly place marking Grin

Rocinante1 · 17/07/2018 22:44

He's suck a dick. It's a non issue though; the letting agent would need to investigate if they wanted to take action and as soon as they do, they will see that she hasn't gone anywhere near his property.

I just cannot believe that this man thinks he has allocated spaces on a public highway simply because the patch of road is kind if near his house. What an idiot.

Rocinante1 · 17/07/2018 22:46

Go stick the link to this thread through his letterbox! Then we can tell him he's an ass!

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 17/07/2018 22:47

Definitely try your MP now. Include photos of them parking in the middle of the road.

Kahlua4me · 17/07/2018 22:48

It seems that they believe they own the road and do have allocated spaces, or are complete tossers. Either way, would it be worth checking with land registry to find out if any neighbours have allocated spaces at the end?

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 17/07/2018 22:49

Wow! I bet the local papers would have a field day, with that reply from the council.

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:50

NNDN has phoned 101 on behalf of her household and mine. I'm going to try and get to sleep before I get really wound up as have to be up in a few hours for my big drive 'up north'.

I genuinely hope when I get back at the end of the week there is a for sale board on their fence Grin

Keep taking pictures and send them to the council every day. Make them change their mind about doing fuck all.

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:52

@SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires hadn't thought about local press, I imagine horrid neighbour could turn quite nasty given his general attitude and demeanour. I wish DP was here Sad

I’ve just RTFT and what the living hell?? How can they possibly be asking you to keep the peace??

IrisTs · 17/07/2018 22:55

Here OP

Maybe explaining that to your rude neighbour will make them think twice?

"One option that’s available is to pursue a legal claim for nuisance on the grounds that the driver is interfering with your use and enjoyment of your property – but to do so you’d need to know the identity of the offending vehicle’s driver." - constant issue of not being to get onto your property or of your property 😁

Lou222 · 17/07/2018 22:56

Have a good trip up North but will your NNDN or your mum be updating? (Please say they are)

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:57

Yes I will be sure to get updates from both

Aren't, if not all (most) councils strapped for cash? Surely the council would jump on a situation like this, just to make a bit of cash?

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:58

DM is interested in joining I'll see if I can get her set up

Unshameless place marking! I think we could live near you!!

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 23:07

Your family and neighbours are good people! Grin I love them.

SubtitlesOn · 17/07/2018 23:08

Hope you get some sleep Smile

Don't worry about updating us lot we totally understand that this is your life not a soap opera or drama on tv

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 23:08

Neighbour! Not neighbours! Grin

Redundancy1 · 17/07/2018 23:09

Is it the deeds that show parking spaces or any sections of road attached to ownership of the property?

I'd say to them that you will carry on parking as you are till they can produce any legal documents to say that they own or have rights over those areas. Which of course p, they can't.

Sorry for all this stress OP. I hope it gets sorted ASAP.

We're worried you are outing yourself here OP

Nettletheelf · 17/07/2018 23:15

The council person who wrote the note is a thickarse. “...by all means you don’t have too”.

Have TOO??? Also, this is not the type of sentence for which the phrase “by all means” was designed.

I’d be going back to the council until I encountered somebody clever/sensible/able to use the English language.

I wish you luck.
