Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

The thing is, this is all amusing for us, but this is your actual life! It's not just going to stop, they aren't just there temporarily... this is your long term home and you will have a never ending game of parking Tetris.

I really hope you manage to find a solution. Maybe they could pave over their front garden or something but it's really unlikely they will do anything to help.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 17/07/2018 22:19

Haha 2 BMWs between them, I won't tell you what the others are

2 BMWs
1 audi
1 range rover
A Fiat 500
And a bright blue Ford Escort with a humongous spoiler on the back?

imnotreally · 17/07/2018 22:20

You did say you live near the sea? Be an awful shame if this happened.

TheMonkeyMummy · 17/07/2018 22:24

That's outrageous.

We are laughing at Birmingham being 'up north'.

My MIL once referred to
Sheffield as 'down south'.

Kahlua4me · 17/07/2018 22:24

Perhaps you need to have a mumsnet party so we can all come round and park by your house? 😀😀

Seriously though, I am always shocked at how people can behave so badly to their neighbours. Why can they not see how their behaviour upsets others? They would hate if you behaved like that so how is it right for them to do it.

Surely you can ring the police when they have blocked you, or your mum, in? Their car is on the public highway so under the jurisdiction of the law...

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:25

@Rocinante1 bingo, it's actually happening to me and beyond the frustration it's making me really upset now. I have a million and one things in my plate at the moment and when I come home I want to relax with my children in what should be our dream home. I'm dreading coming home at the moment I sat in my car In the car park and cried when I was leaving Sainsbury's earlier because I just wanted to go home and switch off and I knew it wouldn't happen.

This would really wind me up. What if you have to get somewhere in an emergency? This has happened to me more times than I would like to recall in the middle of the night. Maybe you should declare an emergency and wake them all up at three in the morning needing to get your car out. Maybe that would make them think twice.

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:26

Sorry I've put a dampener on things with that last post.

Birmingham is up north!! Anywhere north of saaaaay Ringwood is up north to me GrinGrin

Have you spoken to the council about double yellow lines? This isn't on at all.

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:28

I'll post the reply NNDN got from the council in a min

I'm not surprised Jenna. It's entertaining for us who aren't living it but this sort of thing can really get you down. People are so selfish.

Rocinante1 · 17/07/2018 22:31

You need to be calling the council everyday. Make yourself enough of a nuisance to them that they actually do something about it just to stop your complaining.
Make it clear that you're quiet enjoyment of your home and your mental health are being badly affected. Your family life us being affected... And absolutely make up an emergency that you couldn't attend because they parked you in.

Something could be done to them a long the anti social behaviour lines?

Keep your chin up, and keep pushing for help.

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:32

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the councils response - included in the photos we sent them was the one I posted earlier which I would class as completely blocking the dropped kerb but I guess not

The latest diagram reminds me of the Rush Hour game!

NicoAndTheNiners · 17/07/2018 22:34

That’s bad that the council won’t help.

Rocinante1 · 17/07/2018 22:35

Send them the photos from tonight. They've parked 2 cars in the middle of the road and across a dropped kerb. They havnt parked, they've just stopped their cars in the middle of the road.

TheMonkeyMummy · 17/07/2018 22:36

@JennaTools I am so sorry that this is happening. Twats.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 22:36

Assholes!! They leave literally dumped their cars right in the centre of a road!!! Do they not understand this is a road and not and extension of their property. Definitely phone 101 OP. Can’t believe the council won’t help.

Sedona123 · 17/07/2018 22:37

Bloody hell! Definitely contact your local MP. This is exactly the sort of thing that they should be helping you with. As PP have said, take plenty of pictures to show that this isn't just something that happens once in a while.

meercat23 · 17/07/2018 22:37

I would think they might have something to say about cars double parked as they are as the moment.

I hope that 101 will be more helpful when you speak to them

SoupDragon · 17/07/2018 22:38

Is it because there is not a single car blocking the dropped kerb?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 22:38

People really baffle me with their parking logic. I live in a cul de sac too and some of the insane parking I see here just blows my mind. It’s almost like people don’t see the lines and kerbs or the empty drives belonging to the people they are visiting Hmm

Cheerio99 · 17/07/2018 22:39

They are such arses

JennaTools · 17/07/2018 22:40

Also!!!!!!!!! I don't think I updated on this but NNDNs letting agent called them and said they had a complaint that she was parking on his 'allocated' space earlier in the week (when she parked at the end) and asking her not to.
She explained his only allocated space was his driveway and she hadn't parked there but had parked on the public unrestricted road and then she got an email saying he had complained again!! She forwarded me the email I'll see if I'm allowed to post it.
