Parking situation on my new road.

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 22:43

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Parking situation on my new road.

Goodness we need a new topic .... not 'sporners corner' but 'parking corner!'

Ooh this is good! Just posting to follow this thread ! But love that you stood up to them today ! Smile

mumsastudent · 16/07/2018 20:27

your nice next door neighbour should say that your landlord is not best pleased with them & is considering his options - the road is paid for by council tax and renters pay council tax & no matter how many people are in a house the prats don't have any more rights on the road it doesn't belong to the house (its not an unadopted road is it? Because if it is that could be even more interesting!)

2018SoFarSoGreat · 16/07/2018 20:28

You can walk to the beach

Wondered when that would get picked up :) Lucky OP!

Hello NNDN - love that as a user name! Welcome - do delurk and join in the fun!

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2018 20:29

Agreed flumpy! I love a good parking thread.

kindersurprise12 · 16/07/2018 20:31

Where do you live, as this sounds and looks very familiar to what I have going on, on my street (cul-de-sac / close) and I'm in the curvy bit.

Ignorant as F the lot of them, so I completely sympathise with your situation.
I have a drive big enough for three cars but only use it for two. Next door have space for two and park two but everybody else has three or four cars.

Why have a garage and drive way yet insist on parking one car on a drive big enough for two or three cars and the others on the road?

Always struggle to get in or out.

Before I end my rant... quick funny story... climbed up the hill to my house in my car and I was blocking a car in front of my drive (don't even know why she was there - but she was in the way) so I stood the car dead.
She got out and shouted at me, telling me I was in the way... I told her she was blocking my drive! She soon F'ed Off quietly and apologetic, had to ask her to speak up! She won't do that again .

End rant...

Seriously though, might be worth going to the council and see what it takes to get yellow lines and see if that can fix the problem. I know I'm going to.

(It's even worse when all these households have guests and gatherings for Christmas and bank holidays.

I feel your pain xx

NoFucksImAQueen · 16/07/2018 20:31

cheeky fuckers! I hope the gloves are well and truly off now.
hi nndn

AvoidingDM · 16/07/2018 20:31

MycatsaPirate

At my old flat somebody seemed to deal in old bangers. I used to report to council the minute the Road Tax ran out. They'd be gone in 48hrs.

Check your councils website to report abandoned cars.

ivykaty44 · 16/07/2018 20:32

firesuit not at all verbally violent, it’s jyst easier to talk about parking arrangements sensibly. Notes on cars like the one left on ops car is just harassing.

Far better to have a chat and come to a compromise than this woman keep sending notes

mommybear1 · 16/07/2018 20:33

Hi OP and NNDN 👋🏻👋🏻🙌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻👏🏻for you both stay strong you are entirely in the right here.

Urbanbeetler · 16/07/2018 20:38

Tell them your husband will get it sorted when he’s out on parole!

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 20:38

Yes we are very lucky to have one of the south's best beaches about half a mile away - one of the main reasons I choose this bloody house. I even checked at the time because I was worried beach goers would park all over the place but they don't - there is literally loads of unrestricted parking but these arse hats can't stand to walk more than 10yards to their cars.
They aren't even fancy Nancy cars so they can't use the excuse that they need to be able to see them from the house!!! I'm not being a snob my car isn't all that either.

I just ahhhhh Angry they would have usually walked the dog by now - we were planning on approaching them then when they couldn't hide behind their front door but looks like their poor dog is part of operation hide away too.

Hello NNDN - good work yesterday.
Stay strong OP - v jealous about your walk to the beach!

CrazyDaisy2018 · 16/07/2018 20:43

I can't believe the comment about renters and owners! What a total and utter arse! I was literally open mouth gaping at that comment.

I don't use the "c" word at all, but I think it's perfectly valid in this man's case! ShockShock

CrazyDaisy2018 · 16/07/2018 20:43

Oh yes, hello NNDN! Sorry - got so incensed in your behalf!

Bluelady · 16/07/2018 20:44

Hellooooo, NNDN.

Rocinante1 · 16/07/2018 20:44

Do you know which estate agent they used? I'd put a complaint into the estate agent about them telling people that it is "their" spaces as it has now resulted in aggressive behaviour towards your NNDN and yourself. They can't do anything, but I'd just be so pissed off at the agents for lieing to get a sale that is want to shout at them!

crazycatgal · 16/07/2018 20:46

Why have they left an arsey note if they are too scared to chat with you in real life. They're making themselves look like dicks. Then again who the hell buys a house with space for one car when you have six.

Also hi NNDN Smile

TheMonkeyMummy · 16/07/2018 20:46

I am shocked that they are hiding from you.

What do the other neighbours think about it? Have you and NNDN spoken to them?

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 20:46

I very much doubt their estate agent told them that - I've worked in the industry myself for many years previously and I just don't see it - I do know who they used and will definitely give them a call to discuss what their buyers have been claiming

Hi NNDN! You are doing a brilliant job!

KnickersOnTheLine · 16/07/2018 20:48

The behaviour of some people just beggars belief, what a bunch of douchenozzles the CF neighbours are. And cowards too for leaving notes and not answering their door. Which can only be because they actually know they’ve not a leg to stand on but aren’t used to people fighting back. Go Jenna and NNDN!

Rocinante1 · 16/07/2018 20:50

@JennaTools

I decided to buy the property next to my parents. When I viewed, the estate agent didn't know my connection with next door and there is some land at the front which absolutely belongs to them and there is no right of way or anything- it's nothing to do with my house or lane, but the estate agent was like "and that's such a handy spot out there if you've got lots of visitors over for a party- plenty of parking and it's public land". It absolutely isn't public and when I told him, he was rather embarrassed. So it does happen.

SubtitlesOn · 16/07/2018 20:52

Just had a thought is there a chance that the bollards on grass area are removable for emergency access?

I mean if an accident happens on grass area is there a chance that ambulance and fire engine and police etc would need to remove the bollards and drive onto the grass

If not, perhaps mention it to council - just in case it is needed in future
