Parking situation on my new road.

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 22:43

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Waves at NNDN

WindyWednesday · 16/07/2018 20:01

Hi NNDN!

MissSusanSays · 16/07/2018 20:02

At this point you need to be careful.

The steps now are really:

Send a note outlining your issues with their parking and keep a copy for yourself.

Call 101 and log the aggresssive behaviour.

Call the council and log a parking issue/ ask for double yellow or a H bar.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 16/07/2018 20:03

Hello NNDN, so glad the OP and you are supporting each other! Don't let the CFs get you downGrin

Troels · 16/07/2018 20:04

Hello NNDN reveal yourself and join the fun, most of us are nice, honest. Especially as you are now a legend for taking on the CFN'S with Jenna.

PatheticNurse · 16/07/2018 20:04

I am amazed at how some people are so FUCKING RUDEAngry

TheMonkeyMummy · 16/07/2018 20:05

Hi NNDN!

The cheek of him, lording over renters.

I would call 101 and get it logged. It's intimidation on top of parking like a twat.

Well done on not moving your car.

Where will DH park when he eventually comes back?

tattyheadsmum · 16/07/2018 20:05

This is a slightly evil suggestion, OP, but as you now know the name of the evil neighbour’s business (from their helpfully branded van), you might feel the need to anonymously review said business on Yelp/Google etc....

stayathomegardener · 16/07/2018 20:06

Hi NNDN, you do realise you need to change your user name to NiceNextDoorNeighbour now.

I'm sure that's the rules 😉

Very cf's you have there op.

tattyheadsmum · 16/07/2018 20:06

Oh, and hello NNDN!

Nearly47 · 16/07/2018 20:06

I don't think they are plotting anything. They know fully well they are wrong. That's why they don't want to listen to any argument. Call the council. Or even do nothing at all and carry on as you've been doing. If they threaten you or damage your property you can involve the authorities.

PatheticNurse · 16/07/2018 20:07

Can you point a camera at Your car as I'm thinking it may be damaged soon

Duskqueen · 16/07/2018 20:07

Hi NNDN. 👋

DonaldTrumpsDadNeededACondom · 16/07/2018 20:08

Fuckers.

[waves] NNDN you are ace Flowers

Lovelittlethings · 16/07/2018 20:08

Oh wow, he sounds like my old neighbour! He used to park his second car on our drive instead of his own, and said he had more right to our drive as he was an owner and we were renters. Don't give in to the bullies!

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 20:09

My DP will return in about 6 weeks and the plan was for him to park in any properly available space on the unrestricted public highway in his fully taxed and MOTD vehicle - not restricting anyone's access or being a pain to anyone - you know.. like a normal person Grin

Hi OP and NNDN. 😀

Cagliostro · 16/07/2018 20:10

Hi NNDN 😀

MadMags · 16/07/2018 20:11

I’m just wondering if they think they can intimidate you because you’re there alone.

MrsOsM · 16/07/2018 20:12

Hi NNDN Smile

Buzzardbird · 16/07/2018 20:13

You can walk to the beach?! Shock Envy

MycatsaPirate · 16/07/2018 20:14

If it wasn't for the excellent diagram I'd think you were a neighbour of mine.

Family across the road (kids not old enough to drive ) have 14 fucking vehicles. 14!!! They take up most of the garage spaces up the end, half the street and also has a couple rotting away on the front garden. Only three are roadworthy. Any time one fails an MOT he plans to get it back on the road but doesn't. It just sits there.

On top of that, there are all the other cars in our street and DD1 is home from uni, was working late and couldn't get parked. So parked round the corner in front of a bungalow. And they left a note on her car telling her not to park in front of their house. They have a drive plus access to the rear in our street but just don't want anyone blocking their view of the bungalow across the road-. DD wasn't blocking a drive and no dropped kerb or yellow lines. Just a miserable bastard who doesn't want anyone parking on HIS bit of the road. She's working late again tonight so will likely have to park there again.

On a side note, is there any way of enforcing removal of old clapped out cars just clogging up gardens and garages and generally looking shite?

Yorkshiretolondon · 16/07/2018 20:14

We have a very similar house like this on our street, bloody loads of cars, parking everywhere, even parked in FRONT of our dropped curb... then refuse to answer their door to you!
Flat tyre anyone?!

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2018 20:16

Oh they’re those sort of neighbours, think they’re better than renters, think they have more rights to be there because they rent off a bank.

BlueBug45 · 16/07/2018 20:20

OP as PPs have said you and NNDN need to get local politicians involved separately emphasising they are blocking disabled access with their parking.

Also is their parking a problem for bin lorries and emergency vehicles? If so bring that up.

Oh any threats or damage to property call the police, and keep calling them. And keep any notes. Wink
