Eurgh Mother Nature has done its thing and my period has arrived today, 9 months of pregnancy and 8 months of breastfeeding and it's finally found me.
CBA to be honest it's been really nice not to have them for so long. How long did yours take to return and how did you feel about it?x

After both DCs they were awful. I never had many when ttc as I have pcos so pregnancy wasn't very different... they are still much worse than before kids. Yuck.

Wallabyone · 13/07/2018 17:23

I was disappointed!
With my son, it took around seven months, he was still breastfed, but had a dummy.

With my dummy-refusing, still breastfed daughter, they didn't return until she was 18months. I was still disappointed when they did Grin

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 13/07/2018 17:25

It took 10 months here (still bf) and I was pleased because we want to start another lot of IVF soon and this makes it easier to plan, although I'll have to stop bf before egg retrieval.

Following

I had my baby almost 6 weeks ago, I am expressing milk as I was unable to get baby to latch. I’m also supplementing with formula.

No period as of yet, but it is interesting to see how other people have got on.

Xx

Laiste · 13/07/2018 17:27

Bloody 8 weeks mine came back. Breastfeeding.

I was very very disappointed!

namechange02837492 · 13/07/2018 17:28

Mine returned about 3 months after stopping breastfeeding. They are exactly the same as before I was pregnant. Massive pain in the arse though, I need to go back on the pill to stop them.

FairiesAndChocolate · 13/07/2018 17:29

Mine came back after 18m of breastfeeding. She randomly dropped her night feeds for a month and the startes again after ny period came back. Still bf at 2.5ys. Periods were awful before baby but better now

Worieddd · 13/07/2018 17:30

I was EBF and my period returned 32 days after I gave birth. Like clockwork.

I wish I’d have had 9 months off...

mindutopia · 13/07/2018 17:34

Mine came back 3 months pp despite ebf. They actually came back later with my baby who was ff. it was a bit of a shock as I hadn’t expected them back until maybe he was closer to a year and not feeding as much. I ovulated right on schedule 14 days later too. It filled me with a bit of dread only because we do NOT want any more babies! Other than that it was fine.

happymummy12345 · 13/07/2018 17:36

I got my first one a few weeks after my lochia ended. I wasn't breastfeeding or expressing at all.
I went back on the combined pill at my 6 week check. So after that it wasn't really any different to before, because it was a withdrawal bleed not a proper period.

keepingbees · 13/07/2018 17:37

All mine were ebf, with my first it was when he was 6 months old. I remember it was a shock as it felt like it had been so long I'd almost forgotten about having them. Also it was kind of sad almost like my body was moving on after having a baby and getting back to normality after the new baby bubble.
With DC2 I expected the same but got a big shock when after 6 weeks of lochia I started bleeding heavily again. Soon realised it was a period and felt majorly peeved! Same happened with DC3. Why they came back so soon the 2nd and 3rd time I don't know.

Mousefunky · 13/07/2018 17:39

I went 4.5 years without one because I had back to back pregnancies and breastfeeding, it was bliss. I found it difficult getting back into the swing of periods and my cycle definitely changed for good.

DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2018 17:40

I was EBF but they came back after four months. I was disappointed at the time but delighted a couple of months later as i found out I was pregnant again.

pastabest · 13/07/2018 17:41

EBF DC1 was 8 weeks old when it came back
EBF DC2 is currently 4 weeks old and either I'm having a restart of lochia or it's my period back already Sad

mehhh · 13/07/2018 17:43

I cried 😂 about 6 months after having dd... she had been refusing to breastfeed for a while other than in the morning so I think I was extra emotional and stressed

I had to use maternity pads for a while. I hated it.
Also, while I was pregnant I realised for the first time I didn't have any anxiety about falling pregnant.

Criceta · 13/07/2018 17:46

They came back 3 months after giving birth for me (breastfed for 6 weeks). I was just happy they didn’t hurt as they had done before I got pregnant!

AreWeDoingThisNow · 13/07/2018 18:21

Annoyed. I was bf and went on the mini pill 8 weeks pp. periods stared again 2 weeks later, bastards came every 2 weeks until I came off the pill, then settled to every 4. I was looking forward to not having them while bf Sad

namechangedtoday15 · 13/07/2018 18:28

Gutted.

I had twins at 27 weeks so kinda 6 months, was exclusively breastfeeding them and my periods came back after 6 weeks.

So even including my pregnancy & feeding 2 babies, I missed 7 months worth of periods. so unfair

Mari50 · 13/07/2018 18:46

I got my period after about six months I think, can’t really remember but was sooner than I expected as I was ebf, didn’t mind my periods until it became obvious I was suffering from secondary infertility then they became a heart break every time they arrived. Now that I’m perimenopausal and too old to conceive the fact that my period still has the audacity to turn up regularly every month just pisses me the fuck off.

lizzlebizzle33 · 13/07/2018 18:50

Wow everyone is so different, I guess it sometimes doesn't make a difference if you are BF or not, it just comes right back!

For me I had two babies 18 month apart and only 2 periods in between so it's been a long long time. Maybe it's why I've been a mega bitch all week and wanting to eat all the time? It's been so long I've forgotten period symptoms.

I'm guessing it's back for me now as I've just retuned to work so feeding a lot less and about 2 weeks ago I had a couple of nights away with work 😩 wish I bloody hadn't know

Moominfan · 13/07/2018 18:50

Complete shock I'd forgotten all about them.

Sevendown · 13/07/2018 18:50

I didn’t get it at all when ebf so I’ve had 6 years of no periods in total- bliss!!

My cycle has always been all over the place- I’m amazed I’m fertile at all.

I’d quite happily never have one again. I used to covertly take pill packs back to back to avoid them.

I’m too old and fat to be allowed the pill anymore though. Sad

haribosmarties · 13/07/2018 18:52

My first period after giving birth was horrendous. It was at about 6 months after even though I was still breastfeeding. It was really heavy and sent me loops emotionally. I literally cried for the whole week and was fantasising about drowning myself!! I was really worried that that was how my periods were going to be from then on..... but the next one was fine.. just like a normal period had been before the pregnancy
