Eurgh Mother Nature has done its thing and my period has arrived today, 9 months of pregnancy and 8 months of breastfeeding and it's finally found me.
CBA to be honest it's been really nice not to have them for so long. How long did yours take to return and how did you feel about it?x

Urgh, mine just arrived after ten months. I’m ebf and was hoping for longer this time as it returned nine months after my last pregnancy. Hurts like hell. I also can’t decide what sanitary wear to use. Would anyone recommend moon cup or absorbant period pants?

Rarotonga · 13/07/2018 20:49

16 months, almost to the day. Still breastfeeding but now I'm back at work this has reduced a lot.

I went just over two years without one so pleased with that really. I don't really feel aggrieved but my periods aren't particularly painful and I don't really get any symptoms of PMS or mood changes.

AlphaBravo · 13/07/2018 20:52

It took 4 weeks and I was BFing. My periods havent hurt once since though whereas before pregnancy I would collapse/vomit etc every month if I didnt catch it with painkillers in time.

VocalDuck · 13/07/2018 20:59

It took three months and I was given medication to stop my milk coming in.

WrongOnTheInternet · 13/07/2018 21:00

Same as you op, bloody annoying nuisance.

PatchworkElmer · 13/07/2018 21:05

5 or 6 weeks pp I think. I was more than a little displeased.

WineAndTiramisu · 13/07/2018 21:07

Bled for 6 weeks post birth, 2 weeks off, then had a mirena coil fitted and have been bleeding since (now 12 weeks pp). Not impressed.

Kraggle · 13/07/2018 21:25

Mine returned a couple of weeks ago and dd is 15 months. I was gutted even though 2 years of no periods I can’t really complain, it lasted nearly two weeks as well which pissed me off. Not as heavy as they used to be so will see if that continues. It finished 7/10 days ago and when I wiped today there was blood so I hope it’s not going to start again so soon. No cramps though so I’m hoping it’s just my body trying to sort itself out.

halfwitpicker · 13/07/2018 21:27

Felt a bit annoyed really. Had a period only two months post partum.

Just made me think, 'oh here we go, ready to get pregnant again'!

I. E. In the sense that my body was ready, not me! I was feckin knackered.

halfwitpicker · 13/07/2018 21:28

They are heavier and more painful though tbh they were really light beforehand.

Inwaiting · 13/07/2018 21:30

I actually felt quite sad. Like that particular journey was over

Pikehau · 13/07/2018 21:36

Dc1 and 2 it returned after 14 months and I was gutted - I did conceive quickly after dc1 returned but miscarroed and only had one or two before I conceived dc2.

After dc 2 I suffered ovulation sickness so along with my endometriosis I was just a mess!

Dc3 is almost 13months and I am worried .... I won’t be having another baby.... I should just hook myself up to an expression machine all
Night!

Pikehau · 13/07/2018 21:36

*expressing not expression!

PixieCutRegret · 13/07/2018 21:43

Funny timing, mine also came back this morning! DS turns one in a few days. It sounds very silly but I actually felt a bit sad about it, but that's probably because I have had a few people (who were very pro BF at the start) telling me DS is getting a bit old now so it's almost like my body is saying it too. Daft I know!

I fancy taking the pill back to back now, I really haven't missed periods at all!

mummabubs · 13/07/2018 21:44

@Faerie87 I also express as baby never latched (he's 9 months old now). My period came back after 12 weeks so I chose to immediately go back onto a contraceptive pill so now I don't have any bleeding (which is bliss to be honest as my periods have always been quite bad!) Hope yours stay at bay a while longer and best of wishes with expressing x

Amanduh · 13/07/2018 21:55

Hate hate hate hate HATE. Ds is 18 months and it’s only this month they’ve stopped being horrendously heavy. I look forward to the next period free pregnancy!

notme999 · 13/07/2018 22:00

FF now but BF for the first month. My period is now and baby is 6mo

Bambamber · 13/07/2018 22:04

DD is 15 months and still no period! Actually kind of wanting them to return. We are TTC which is a bit difficult when I'm not ovulating Grin plus I'm constantly getting cramps like I normally do when I'm pregnant so I would just like a period in the hopes the cramps will finally stop!

Bambamber · 13/07/2018 22:05

*getting cramps like I normally do when on my period

affectionincoldclimate · 13/07/2018 22:55

4 months and I was BFing. First reaction was: FFS! Not yet!

Then I weirdly enjoyed it as it was yet another sign I was back to "normal" as I really did not enjoy being pregnant and then the 4th trimester and feeling like my body was hijacked. Not enjoying them now as have a coil so it's lots of random spotting and heavy flows.

NoLongerAskedForID · 13/07/2018 23:01

I quite want mine back! EBF 8mo old ds1

They were seriously painful and quite heavy but I appreciated the feeling of elation after pmt lifted. And I liked the predictability. Strange I know.

Also- more importantly - I want to know i can TTC again, even though I want to wait quite a while yet. Just feels as if it's been taken out of my hands.

I guess not having periods for 18mo isn't novel to me as some time ago I had a Mirena coil- no periods for 5y!

Tillytrotter123 · 13/07/2018 23:43

Mine were about 8 weeks after. I know it sounds silly but period pains sometimes remind me of labour pains and I find it a bit more traumatic. My dd is only 4 months old long so hopefully I'll forget the pain soon!

Iwantaunicorn · 13/07/2018 23:46

5-6 weeks lochia bleeding, then straight in to my first period. Seriously pissed me off to be honest!

Jupiter15 · 14/07/2018 00:04

I got mine 21 months postpartum (was still BF). I was really happy because it meant we could start trying for baby 2. I did enjoy not having periods for 2.5 years though. Once we decided 12 months postpartum that we would be happy to conceive again I enjoyed being able to have sex without any contraception.
The downside was that I started to get nursing aversion after ovulation so I ended up weaning at 27 months but I was pregnant by then anyway so back to no periods!

lizzlebizzle33 · 14/07/2018 21:05

Eurgh having the worst pains today 😩 I really hope this is just because it's my first period for so long and it's not a sign of things to come!

Do you think if I keep feeding and pumping and feeding and pumping thy will go away again?😁😁 (fingers crossed with a hopeful expression)
