According to the Palace's own website there is no requirement on anyone, whether a subject or not, to bow to the Queen, although I get the impression they'd rather you did.

So: The Queen was waiting for him, but he didn't keep her waiting as such. He didn't bow, but he doesn't have to anyway. He didn't grab her arm in defiance of protocol (possibly due to her subtle evasive manoeuvres). Starting off too quickly was a faux pas but could have been an honest mistake - she did catch up eventually...

No, I think curtseying or bowing is just such an anachronism nowadays.

I know it is a mark of respect for the Monarch, but I don't think I have seen this carry on happening in any other Royal Family around Europe. Maybe I just missed it.
