Apology🤔. No apology forthcoming.i don’t apologise to bombastic monarchists
As you were

GrammarShammer · 14/07/2018 11:21

Interesting debate.
Trump is gung ho business man who has found himself head of the states. He has no diplomat background or training.. Ie years working up through the ranks.
It was obvious to me he was trying to do the right thing he's not used to this, ie no physical touching etc.
I bet the Queen looked forward to meeting him, if nothing else he isn't boring is he 😂😂😂, all the boring people she has to meet I bet she has some funny behind the scenes tales to tell her close family about this one.

She does very well pampered or not to keep getting dolled up, wheeled out for endless engaments. Church services etc.
She did us proud yesterday...

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2018 11:23

I don't think he quite found himself president. He was quite keen.

pfttt · 14/07/2018 11:28

Lipstick - I'm not "bombastic monarchist" - whatever that is; in fact till yesterday I would have said I was very much on the fence about whether I was a royalist or not.

After seeing a 92-year-old woman waiting patiently in the boiling heat for 11 minutes in a full suit (I was outside yesterday, and it was boiling) I have only huge respect for our incredibly hard-working Head of State, who managed to greet the US Sex Abuser In Chief politely and diplomatically.

Personally, I would have hit him hard in the nuts with my handbag if I were her which is why I'd be a crap Head of State.

pfttt · 14/07/2018 11:31

GrammarShammer

Ha ha.

From the pictures, the Queen is definitely not "keen" to meet the Sex Abuser In Chief.

She's gritting her teeth and bearing it. Like the hard-working, diplomatic consummately professional Head of State she is.

SalemBlackCat · 14/07/2018 14:51

@Singlenotsingle He is direct, he speaks his mind. In other words, he has no filter. He is a very rude person who doesn't think before he speaks, and you find rudeness 'refreshing'? Where you raised in a barn? I don't know anyone bar Trump fans who think being rude, nasty and aggressive is actually 'refreshing' - no stable person who has social skills, anyway. And, sorry, he doesn't get results. He has been an abject failure so far - achieving precisely 0% of his promises.

SalemBlackCat · 14/07/2018 15:27

@LipstickHandbagCoffee

Listing tasks undertaken by pampered monarch as if they’re hard or onerous

When you are 92 years old, they are! Just think about that for a minute. Even 30 seconds.

I am for a Republic, I am Australian and would dearly love Australia to become a republic. To have our own head of state. That said, however, the woman is 92 years old and can pass this onto Charles or William, and live a life of luxury and do nothing. Instead, she does an awful lot for someone who is almost 100. I have come across many Republicans and Monarchists in real life, and I have never, that is never heard anyone say anything remotely approaching negative about her. She appears to be very well-respected even by those of us who wish she wasn't our head of state.

SalemBlackCat · 14/07/2018 15:45

@2up2manydown Yet again, what is it with far-right extremists that they see everything through a political prism? Many on the right detest the Monarchy. Many on the left love the Monarchy. Why is it always those on the right, (normally very far right) that are the first to political sledge and drag politics into everything? You clearly live life in a political prism where everyone is categorised as left or right.

Obviously they aren't to her otherwise she wouldn't be doing it. Use it or lose it as they say. She's in the very fortunate position of being "enabled" to keep reasonably busy because she doesn't have to concern herself with anything other than the job in hand, It's either that or vegetate on the sofa. Most women of her age would love to be enabled to get out and about. She's very lucky. But apart from that, it is proven that poor people do not fare as well as rich people in old age. The queen has servants, the best of food and her own private physician, any minor ailments are quickly nipped in the bud. It makes a huge difference.

Clandestino · 14/07/2018 18:20

The Queen looked like she was training one of her corgis as she was showing him where to go and where to stand. All she needed was a treat in her hand.
That was embarrassing on a completely different level. Let's bet though that all the rednecks who voted for him are cheering that he showed no respect.
@GrammarShammer, Trump is no gung-ho business man. In fact, he's not a business man, only a pampered narcissist heir of a vast fortune. He's a good showman but that's it.

libra101 · 14/07/2018 18:25

Nobody does in better than the Queen!

Regal, calm, cool and collected.

Long to reign over us, your Majesty!

brotherphil · 14/07/2018 19:13

We’d not be bankrolling and archaic elitist unfair monarchy
We're not: they're bankrolling us. 85% of HM's income from the Crown Estate goes to the Treasury, with her keeping the other 15% as the Sovereign Grant -what used to be called the Civil List - to run The Firm.
She reimburses the treasury for what they pay to royals who aren't included in the SG from her income from the Duchy of Lancaster.
Yes, she's a very rich landowner, but she pays taxes at a rate massively higher than other rich people. It's been like that since George III.

SalemBlackCat · 14/07/2018 19:13

@coolncalm That's true. However she is still human, and no doctor can truly perform magic. What I mean by that is that there is no cure for arthritis, for example. She could be doped up on painkillers but of the best kind and most expensive kind but she'd still need to be able to perform her duties. A doctor can only do so much. She is 92, and no doctor can reverse her age.

maxthemartian · 14/07/2018 19:20

Trump worked his way up through the ranks? Grin

Yeah the ranks of a millionaire father!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 14/07/2018 19:24

Trump was gifted a million by his dad, when a million was a lot of money
We aren’t talking self made, raised revenue by graft. It was nepotism

libbyb · 14/07/2018 19:33

Can't wait for Air Force 1 to depart. I have never listened to such an undiplomatic tw*t in my whole life, and he is constantly denying his statements - even the recorded ones - he is a bully, and he has never learned the word 'Respect' unless it is being applied to him. He really wanted to meet the Queen, and he said it would make his mother proud. So how could he be the rudest visitor that the Queen has ever had to meet?? God Bless Queen Elizabeth for not lowering her standards and remaining gracious, hospitable and welcoming. Glad you've gone to your own bit of Scotland for the remainder of your trip. Nicola Sturgeon will no doubt bow to your intelligence and polish your boots whilst she's at it!

coolncalm · 14/07/2018 20:17

Salem Of course a doctor can only do so much, the queen is very lucky she doesn't have something like arthritis, it's the luck of the draw i suppose. But the fact does remain that unlike most women of her age she has the benefit of her own doctors, she doesn't have to wait on long lists for scans or any minor ops. Everything is nipped in the bud immediately.

Add to all that a lifetime of being very well looked after, she's bound to fare better than most. She hasn't been worn down by hard work and money worries etc.

coolncalm · 14/07/2018 20:25

God Bless Queen Elizabeth for not lowering her standards and remaining gracious, hospitable and welcoming

One of the things she gets paid millions for off the taxpayer, water off a ducks back i'd say, she's entertained far worse. Survival of the monarchy at all costs is the motto.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 14/07/2018 20:31

I don't understand how this happened. TBH.

Trump had protocol people, the Queen has protocol people, the PM has protocol people.

Why didn't they anticipate this? They ought to have kept in touch to prevent scenes like this from happening.

Someone didn't do their job.

brotherphil · 14/07/2018 20:34

Why exactly is that any business of the British public?
Because Our Gracious Leader is so far up his tochis that all you can see of her bootlaces are the aglets?

LeighaJ · 14/07/2018 20:40

pfttt

It doesn't matter how good of allies we are now. The president of my country (no matter whether I like them or not) shouldn't bow to the queen of the country whose monarchy and tyranny we fought to free ourselves of.

@StealthPolarBear

Watch the video clip. Grin

1forAll74 · 15/07/2018 00:30

I know for sure, that our Queen, knows only too well, what Donald Trump is like, she has to pretend that all is well with him, but would never ever disclose her thoughts about him.. and good job Philip is not around to do his funny comments. TRUMPS visit here has been quite rubbishy and very costly,,and will be quite forgotten in a few days..

coolncalm · 15/07/2018 09:08

As Philips "funny comments" are often racially offensive it's probably better if he's never around. The mans a liability and i'm amazed at how forgiving and tolerant people are. There's never any excuse for racism, my father was the same age as him and i never heard him make a racist remark in his life, so it's not a generation thing.

pfttt · 15/07/2018 09:32

He's retired now anyway. So a bit irrelevant.
