Poss *trigger* To think this is disgusting and encourages pedophilia

I came across this on the wish shopping app recently. I know pictures don't always work so quick description : they are male masturbation sex toys similar to fleshlight (brand name) they are designed to look and feel like vaginas. This is pretty gross for me personally but not disgusting I appreciate some people think they are fine. What I do think is disgusting is that the products are clearly labeled with the ages of the vagina they mimic and the youngest is 14. Below the age of consent. Am I over reacting here or is this basically allowing men to mimic sex with a 14 year old so therefore pretty problematic? I added a trigger warning as I'd rather be safe than cause any distress. Hope it is appropriate use.

There are FAR more paedophiles than there have ever been. To pretend there isn’t is bonkers

Racecardriver · 12/07/2018 13:04

May be manufactured in a jurisdiction with a lower age of consent. I am more Hmm that anyone is stupid enough to believe that all 14 year old vaginas are the same or that a vagina can change significantly in 2 years (unless there has been some kind of trauma like birth obviously).

Racecardriver · 12/07/2018 13:06

@glintandglide I doubt it. Do remember that it used to be legal to marry and consummate a girl of 12 in Britain a few hundred years ago. I think that the Internet has just made pedophiles more visible and cultural shift have increased the scope of 'pedophile' to greatly increase the number of men and women who could fit in that discription.

glintandglide · 12/07/2018 13:09

The internet has meant that men who would never have considered children sexually have been able to access material which they find they like.
You wouldn’t believe the number of people viewing child sex abuse onlinewho started off looking at porn which got harder and harder and progressed to children. Those men would’ve been unlikely to have been able to access what was a very underground, closed situation 30 years ago. They likely would never have even considered it

Hidingtonothing · 12/07/2018 13:11

I agree glint but often hear 'experts' claim there isn't and that they're just catching them more effectively(!) What I find really disturbing is how many of them you see on tv documentaries (24hrs in police custody the other night for example) with apparently no shame in what they've done. I can't help but think that the fact that this stuff is in the public eye so much is beginning to normalise it to some degree and that it's only going to get worse.

glintandglide · 12/07/2018 13:13

That’s not the police line at All! I suppose individual forces can spin it how they like though

It’s certainly far far easier to catch and convict now, but there are so many more of them most forces are drowning

rosesandflowers1 · 12/07/2018 13:14

Would the age make much of a difference? Confused

I assume it's somewhere with a different age of consent but the whole set up is very strange. Why would you prefer a 20 year old's vagina to a 22 year old's?

busybarbara · 12/07/2018 15:14

Please. Most men father children and don't turn into abusive monsters once they see their kids in the nude. Pedophilia is an aberrant sexuality, not a "ooh that looks interesting" fad.

You wouldn’t believe the number of people viewing child sex abuse onlinewho started off looking at porn which got harder and harder and progressed to children.

Oh really. They can access gay porn more easily too but it doesn't mean more men are turning gay.

glintandglide · 12/07/2018 15:34

No offence busy Barbara but there is not much point being sarcastic when you don’t know anything about it.

You don’t stumble across. It’s a gradual process of searching out different materials and finding more.

Hidingtonothing · 12/07/2018 16:09

Surely CP, given that it's very well hidden, isn't something you just 'stumble across'?

I think it's more a case of the stuff they stumble across leading to seeking out more extreme stuff tbh fridge. Some of the terms used on the most widely used porn sites are questionable at best and it's not hard to see how someone who develops a liking for 'teen' stuff might then become desensitised and start searching for something more extreme.

That kind of terminology and content in addition to items like the one in this OP being marketed are a huge problem in my view because they do desensitise the people using them and lead to a wider normalisation of something we should be stamping on much, much harder.

ReservoirDogs · 12/07/2018 16:10

what on earth were you searching for this to come up though?

AbsentmindedWoman · 12/07/2018 16:12

Revolting.

I can't get my head round the idea of 14 as the age of consent, anywhere, even though I know that it is legally.

busybarbara · 12/07/2018 16:13

You can stumble across everything online. This does not mean 5% of men become murderers, druggies, into S&M, bestiality, whips and chains or other grot. Yet 5% of men are paedophiles, it is surely an inherent preference that exists whether or not material is there.

Sorry I didn't realise you're a professor of sexology Hmm Extreme porn does not change one's sexuality, it can at best (worst) unlock interests that are already there.

AbsentmindedWoman · 12/07/2018 16:21

"People wanting to be swallowed" Grin Grin Grin

Sorry, I'm not one for laughing at people's kinks usually as I think it's all good so long as it's between genuinely consenting adults having fun, but wanting to be swallowed made me lol.

glintandglide · 12/07/2018 16:22

I suspect it’s more about those who were unaware they could be excited by child sex abuse, are now more likely to find themselves viewing it.

No I’m not a professor of sexology. I do work in child protection though Hmm

glintandglide · 12/07/2018 16:25

And your stats are neither correct or relevant btw
