I've been posting a lot on trans issues over in feminist chat. I am keenly aware that it's primarily a women's forum, for women to discuss issues pertaining to their needs. I also know that the presence of men in women's spaces can undermine useful discussions and become "all about the men"

When I say women, I include transwomen. I know many of you don't, but that's not at all what this AIBU is about.

So, am I making a useful contribution to the debate, or undermining it?

I already did up thread. I like vulvas. And we've done the whole "if you won't accept transwomen as sexual partners, you don't think transwomen are women." I don't consider transmen as sexual partners because they are men. I've covered this ground upthread.

There are some people whose gender identity doesn't match the sex they were assigned at birth. These are transgender people.

It is not necessary to square the circle if you simply accept that women are women, and trans women are trans women. And most people have absolutely no problem with trans women, who have their GRC certificate, and may even have transitioned, with or without surgery, living as women. None at all.

It's simply self ID that is concerning, because it enables predatory men to pose as trans women in female spaces, without even having to try. And if you don't think predatory men are a serious problem, fuck right off.
