That's all, folks! Goodness only knows what happens now. But at least that Grade A twat is no longer representing us abroad.

OP posts:
Seasawride · 09/07/2018 17:35

Frazzled

Spot on and the opposition equally shambolic fools too.

Said it before and say it again if Corbyn hadn’t been voted leader and we had Yvette cooper we wouldn’t be in this mess.

NanaNoodleman · 09/07/2018 17:36

Vladimir Putin wants us to leave the eu. That in itself ought to be enough to indicate to anyone, however ignorant of the legal and political complexities, that Brexit might not be in our national interest.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 17:36

AMA

Labour too but no way on gods earth can I vote for Corbyn as he isn’t actually labour.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 17:37

Agree Nana and trump thought it a good idea too. Sad

longwayoff · 09/07/2018 17:38

AMA I agree completely. They are a bloodyembarassment.

Bluntness100 · 09/07/2018 17:38

I hope that the EU is sympathetic when dealing with us and realised that it's not fair that the whole country should have to suffer just because it's led by a bunch of fools

I don't think may is a fool either, she might be shit at interviews but I suspect she's a very smart woman, who is attempting to do the right thing for the country here and not her own career, unlike Boris.

Arguably the fools are the British public. The majority who voted sadly voted for something to this day they have no idea of the implications of and that may cost us all dearly for some significant time to come. And it's the poorest who will be hit hardest.

Redundancy1 · 09/07/2018 17:38

OP

surely the only people who can be pleased about this resignation are the ones who want Boris Johnson as Prime Minister? He hasn't resigned so he can enjoy the sun.

NanaNoodleman · 09/07/2018 17:39

Trump is (officially at least) an ally, however inadequate. Putin does not even claim to be that. And he wants us to do this. It maybe that he has funded campaigns to get us to do this. Why might that be? Is it because he thinks it will make us more secure and prosperous?

jasjas1973 · 09/07/2018 17:40

@lifeisabeachsometimes

A brexit PM means a no-deal brexit and that will not lead to stability/calm, in-fact the exact opposite.
the EU cannot re negotiate the entire treaties of Rome, Mastricht and Lisbon just because we want our cake and eat it.

Dont know the answers, BJ should have gone after he ensured that woman stayed rotting in an Iranian jail, he is a dangerous fool, makes Trump look a normal middle of the road sort of guy!

AMAWriter · 09/07/2018 17:42

And I agree with @Seasawride that I couldn't vote for Corbyn now.

It comes to something where the only two politicians I can think of who are talking sense are old Conservatives.

You know those dinner party day-dreams, where you think you can choose five people to invite to dinner? I do this with the government sometimes, thinking "I'll pick people from any party" but I can't do it. Not only can I not get a cabinet together, I can't even pick one fucking person that I would want to come in and take over.

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/07/2018 17:42

BJ should have gone after he ensured that woman stayed rotting in an Iranian jail
Yes, too true.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 17:43

Neither are an ally. Trump or Putin.

Our allies are Europe and we are pissing on them. Hopefully they will take us back

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 17:44

AMA and quite

Spot on

Bluntness100 · 09/07/2018 17:50

I can't think who I'd want to take over either, it's that much of a shambles. I'm not a fan of Teresa may, but I suspect what they say about her is true, that she works tirelessly behind the scene on the job at hand, but is shit at communicating and media and doesn't like it, she really is the only one who will take it through then probably retire. She's clearly not doing it for the glory, because there is none to be had.

She's presiding over one of our countries potentially biggest fuck ups, and some shit bags who wouldn't do it themselves are gunning for her.

It doesn't get any lower.

annandale · 09/07/2018 17:50

I don't believe we can just shut Brexit down and say the referendum was advisory, even though it was. It didn't come out of nowhere - farage and hannan were elected Meps for years. Just because turnout was low in the euro elections, they were still top of the list. Cameron made the referendum advisory but didn't campaign on that basis - -the utter fool-- because he thought emphasising that would embolden ukip and because he thought remain would win.

I don't think remain would necessarily win a second time, though it's much more likely. I know at least one leave regretter but it would likely be very close again. Not helpful.

I do think may should put a remainer in the FO. Which might mean Jeremy Hunt. God protect us from gove at health though.

mostdays · 09/07/2018 17:51

It comes to something where the only two politicians I can think of who are talking sense are old Conservatives.

Indeed. I have caught myself saying a few times in the past two years that whatever you think of her (and I do not think well of her at all), Margaret Thatcher would have made a far better job of Brexit than anyone currently involved. I would never, ever have expected to think that about anything.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/07/2018 17:53

Thatcher would never have allowed a referendum, let alone implement Brexit.

AMAWriter · 09/07/2018 17:56

I don't know why Cameron was so frightened of UKIP, though. The only MP they had was someone who'd left the Conservatives, wasn't it? And yes they got a few councils, but not really anything to worry about. Farage had a big mouth but in the end he was on his own.

(By the way, did any of you see the UKipper documentary a while ago? Half the people there were ex National Front and there wasn't one of them that looked as though they had a brain cell. I was amazed Farage would want to mix with them.)

mostdays · 09/07/2018 17:56

A far better job, then... :)

Bluelady · 09/07/2018 17:56

In almost 50 years of political awareness I've never seen such a shit show in British politics. Shambolic government, inept opposition, nobody with any intellect or leadership ability on any of the Commons benches and the world regarding us with contempt and pity. Frankly, I'm terrified.

Bluntness100 · 09/07/2018 17:56

If Boris has stepped down saying I can't agree to that deal. But I think I can do better so want to challenge for leadership. Fair enough. But he's just stuck it to her then will run for cover, till it's done then wish to be the bloke who steps in after.

It's just so conniving, he's dropped her and us right in the shit.

AMAWriter · 09/07/2018 17:57

And remember how Farage got to meet Trump just after Trump was elected? I honestly don't think Trump realised that Farage was only an MEP (if in fact Trump knew what an MEP was) - I think he thought Farage was high up in government.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 18:00

Ghosto

Yes that we agree on.

Bluntness sgree with you on TM and these back stabbing pathetic incompetent men do leave me kind of admiring her against my will.

Dinner party post was so true.

My opposite numbers would be John smith and The one who took us into Europe Edward Heath. Would also like Wilson too for the crack but would need to buy ash trays. Wink

You have to laugh people

Me too.. The future of the UK is in tatters with nobody fit to lead us.... 😪

This is where the 'Great' is eradicated from Britain. It's a shambles!

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 18:03

Bluelady

Me too. I am 51 and I honestly cannot remember a worse liot on all sides even disregarding Brexit. Utterly crap.

Again sgree Blunt he’s a coward and a windbag and agree AMA he probably thought farage was in power Wink
