Bing is an odd family set-up right?

Just watching Bing.

In today's episode, Bing did a Lenny from of Mice and Men and squished a helpless butterfly in his great big sausage fingers.

Flop, his main carer, is, inexplicably, a termite sort of creature, so couldn't bring the butterfly back to life, even though he has the lovely RSC voice of Mark Rylance. The miniature elephant thing placated the children with the idea of a funeral.

So all the children cried, and they buried the butterfly in the garden and lobbed a load of drawings into the hole.

'Butterflies. It's a Bing thing!'Confused

The episode the other week involved Mark Rylance as a termite popping to the shop for some carrots, which provoked a meltdown in Bing, as he was beside himself that Flop had left the house.

(Lighthearted. I am stuck indoors with a broken legged child. This is mostly new to me. But while we're at it how boring are Patchwork Pals?)

It might get more exciting, they keep plugging an advert for a dog that plays a guitar, and a woman in a pink jumper emblazoned with said dog's face twirling round for the joy of it.

I like the theory of Flop being smaller to enforce gentle parenting.

I always thought the carers were smaller because children view adults as less significant than them! But I always thought Flop was his Dad so ignore me.

Bananarama12 · 09/07/2018 18:47

Ah I love patchwork pals!

Racecardriver · 09/07/2018 18:51

Bing makes me think of how my dad was with my eldest son (he used to take care of him quite a bit when he was younger).

Racecardriver · 09/07/2018 18:52

But speaking if odd set ups Ruby and max. Why has no one called SS?

SleepingStandingUp · 09/07/2018 18:52

No one is allowed tp diss Patchwork Pals!! Unless its the egg stuck up the bum episode...

Flop as teddy would make Bing neglected, they to the shops etc

Size is apparently because kids are egocentric

Bananalanacake · 09/07/2018 18:53

What is the title of the one where Bing breaks flops phone. My dd1 keeps asking for it but I can't find it on Amazon prime.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 09/07/2018 18:54

What one is Ruby and Max?

Agree about Charlie and Lola school of 'parenting'. Also 'she is cute, and very funny'

She isn't. She's a precocious little whatsit and very annoying.

Round the corner
Not far away

Genuine LOL for that one!

That one is absolutely revolting.

Just watch Hey Duggee. Best kids' TV programme ever.
The Fashion Badge was fabulous darlings. It was great spotting which Squirrel was which Designer.

Isabella1978 · 09/07/2018 19:08

Sod whingey Bing and Pablo can defo do one...Hey Duggee is the only way to go! Grin

Isabella1978 · 09/07/2018 19:09

@Nanny0gg cross post and legendary name btw Wink

Isabella1978 · 09/07/2018 19:12

@Bananalanacake the episode you want is number 77 'Mobile Phone' between toy party and show

53rdWay · 09/07/2018 19:16

When Mark Rylance was in the BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall and trying to keep a stroppy Henry VIII happy all I kept thinking was "this is Bing for grown ups".

I reckon Bing is the story of Thomas Cromwell in purgatory. He got to the pearly gates and St Peter said "Right, Thomas: You got powerful by enabling an angry overgrown toddler to get everything he wanted, now your punishment is to go and parent an angry overgrown toddler into a functional and kind human being. Also you can't reach the shelves now. ENJOY!"

Katurah · 09/07/2018 19:21

I'm a massive Bing fan. I've learnt a lot from Flop. I don't even think Bing is that whiny to be honest and I think the way Flop cares for him with patience and love is pretty inspiring.

Paget however, is a complete twat. The episode where Bing has broken his train and she pipes up "I don't think trains are meant to fly" in a sarcastic yet fake sympathetic tone, gah I just want to pulverise her. Knob. Piss off back to your shop.

BabloHoney · 09/07/2018 19:22

I don’t mind the premise of Bing, it’s the dumbing down of language that annoys me. Bing will say he “broked” something or “gived it” to someone, and my 3 year old repeats it.. I don’t understand why they do it when it’s aimed at preschoolers who are still learning to talk?

Sarah from Sarah and Duck doesn’t have parents on the scene either, but she has Roger Allum’s lovely soothing voice to look after her!!

goodiegoodieyumyum · 09/07/2018 19:23

I feel sorry for Ruby from Max and Ruby her brother is constantly misbehaving and ruining things and she has to look after him all the time, you do see her Grandma and parents but not often, the amount of responsibility was small rabbit has for her toddler brother is ridiculous.

Cismyass · 09/07/2018 19:28

As a general rule i am very much against animal cruelty but Bing Bastard Bunny should have been drowned at birth.

Bananalanacake · 09/07/2018 19:29

Thanks Isabella. I can only find the same ones on Amazon. It also doesn't have the butterfly one. Will try YouTube.

SequinsOnEverything · 09/07/2018 19:35

I always thought their 'carers' were just their soft toys and they weren't really talking to them.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 09/07/2018 19:39

Bing is banned in this house. I can’t stand whiny children. My friend had a whiny kid and I can’t even be in the same room as him half the time.

Elledouble · 09/07/2018 19:40

I bought my son’s dad a Bing book called “Something for Daddy” for father’s day as a joke. It’s quite clear from that book that Flop definitely isn’t his dad!

SleepingStandingUp · 09/07/2018 19:43

Pando is naughty - the slide episode anyone????

Lavende · 09/07/2018 19:46

I read that book to my DD last night and I was thinking “WTF?? AM I GOING TO SEE HER??!?!?!?” Alas she didn’t appear in the book either. I guess we’ll never know.

coconutpie · 09/07/2018 19:54

There was a thread on here before about Bing and a poster's DH (I think) worked on the Bing show and gave a bit of insight into the script etc. Will see if I can find the thread.

NoProbLlama78 · 09/07/2018 20:03

Sleeping do you mean the swing? Pando is a little shit and Padget enables his behaviour.

SleepingStandingUp · 09/07/2018 20:05

Yeah sory. Brain was trying to remember who slid the toy down the slide abd broke it. Pando also spun Bing way longer than he wanted to be spun. Should have puked on him
