I think boxed wine is the least of your worries.

KirstenRaymonde · 08/07/2018 22:24

There’s some really good boxed wine, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it

AuntieStella · 08/07/2018 22:25

Do a blind test. You may well be pleasantly surprised. Some is very good, and most is just fine.

Like everything, go cheaper until it actually makes a difference.

Jasperoonicle · 08/07/2018 22:26

Don't think of it as boxed wine, consider it Cardboardeaux instead.

DontBuyANewMumAnyLUSHProduce · 08/07/2018 22:27

You can buy a nice Marlborough SB boxed from Tesco!

redshoeblueshoe · 08/07/2018 22:27

Cardboardeaux Grin

Sarahlou63 · 08/07/2018 22:27

Step away from the wine, boxed or otherwise. You have bigger problems to resolve.

JustVent · 08/07/2018 22:28

I think boxed wine is the least of your worries.

Wtf? How did you even get that comment from this thread?
What kind of arsehole response is that?

Arewehomeyet · 08/07/2018 22:34

Depends if you have the budget to spend lots on fancy wine or not.

ILoveDolly · 08/07/2018 22:36

I got some box wine last year for a party and it is AWESOME
Stays fresh for ages, you can have just one glass or grab a bit for cooking anything, leave it for weeks.
Tastes good. Sainsbo Sauvginon Blanco is very nice.

ChristmasTablecloth · 08/07/2018 22:45

@JustVent "Wtf? How did you even get that comment from this thread?
What kind of arsehole response is that?"

Well there's this from op: "I am 37 and think i am already having mid life issues box wine will just compound it"

and this "I will be a lady of a certain age with 3 kids drinking cunty boxed wine depressing and I have a cat"

and this "And all dh keeps on banging on about how cheap it is"

That's her entire op! it doesn't make for jolly reading does it?

JustVent · 08/07/2018 22:51

So what issues do you think the OP should be worrying more about then? Confused

Jeez, you can’t even come onto MN to bitch about a scabby boxed wine now without the Better Than Yaow coming along.

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2018 22:53

I don’t mind a bit of box wine. I allow myself a wee chuckle when I read the “lasts 6 weeks once opened”

Vinotinto78 · 08/07/2018 22:58

Can recommend Tesco’s Pinot Blush box. Unfortunately I’m unlikely to discover whether it really lasts for 6 weeks...

CARDBOARDEAUX !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣😩😩😩

redshoeblueshoe · 08/07/2018 23:11

Well I fancy wine now, and the shops are shut.

maybe the cat is upsetting Christmastablecloth

Lotsofdigestives · 08/07/2018 23:12

Sainos boxed wine is ok I think.

KnickersOnTheLine · 08/07/2018 23:16

You do realise practically all bottled wine arrives in the UK in giant bags and is then decanted into the packaging we see on shelf. So much of the boxed wine is actually the same as the bottles along the shelf. And therefore snobbery is a bit daft.

AornisHades · 08/07/2018 23:16

But you get a comfy pillow to rest your head when you've drunk it all.*

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 08/07/2018 23:18

Life is too short to drink cheap wine.

LemonysSnicket · 08/07/2018 23:20

My only problem with boxed wine is it doesn't curtail consumption like a bottle as you don't have to open another

echt · 08/07/2018 23:22

You can take it down a step further, remove the cardboard and drink from the goon sack, as Australians call it.

Ripper!

JuniperBeer · 08/07/2018 23:23

There’s some amazing boxed wine nowadays!

RJnomore1 · 08/07/2018 23:28

It's most just new world wines that arrive in boxes. European ones are stil bottled locally.

I hear you op. Wine boxes are in my head astudent type thing abd you reach a point in life you don't want to live like astudent any more.

You sound royally fed up.
