To think that if this had been a mother of 3, not a father of 3, the response would be vastly different?

Father of 3 Jack P Shepherd (David Platt from Corrie) was pictured drunk in a lift after the England/Colombia game. The press/social media are pegging this, and his response, as 'hilarious' www.unilad.co.uk/sport/jack-shepherd-unconscious-lift-england-world-cup-win/

AIBU to think if a 30yo female soap actor mother of 3 (one of whom she doesn't see, like Shepherd) did this she'd be crucified and forced to apologise and make a statement about letting her kids down? And there'd no doubt be remarks about putting herself in danger of being sexually assaulted.

There not a lot of point to my post but so much I see now makes me think "if that were a woman it would be different" and I think we're a long way before men have to meet the high expectations that women do

Completely agree.

Foslady · 07/07/2018 23:24

Yep, the usual double standards again

ChicagoWest · 07/07/2018 23:26

I totally agree with you! There are so many things that men just get away with but women are totally crucified if they do the same thing.

A man who lives in my home town has 5 children by 5 different women; he only sees 4 out of those 5 children. Everyone fawns over him as some kind of super dad with loads of kids. Imagine the shit a woman would get for having 5 kids by 5 men and not seeing one of those kids!

Notmyrealname85 · 07/07/2018 23:26

Of course!! But well spotted, I barely notice this anymore :(

GunpowderGelatine · 07/07/2018 23:28

Chicago yes! Donald Trump has 5 kids to 3 different women. I wonder if Hillary would have had a chance at presidency if she had 5 kids to 3 different men. 🤔

You are absolutely 100% right and it makes me livid. We need to keep pointing it out and pointing it out so we see it. I sometimes don't even notice these double standards as our upbringing ingrains these attitudes in us.

Hogtini · 07/07/2018 23:42

Agree. If this was the mother there would be
calls for social services to be involved

Northernparent68 · 08/07/2018 00:06

A woman,or a man, would only be crucified if he or you she had the children with her.

Chicago, do people really fawn over the man with 5 children with 5 different women ? I think it’s more likely he’s called a deadbeat dad.

GunpowderGelatine · 08/07/2018 11:59

I disagree, I think people would definitely pick up on the child element, but only for women.

Example here - Louise Redknapp got a lot of stick for daring to enjoy herself rather than weeping at home after her marriage split. And - shock horror - her (not small) children were looked after by..wait for it..their grandparents ShockShockShock. Burn her! www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4705128/Louise-Redknapp-SLAMMED-husband-Jamie-s-parents.html

I agree.

Kerry Katona (who I’m no fan of) was caught drunk at a airport in the morning in the car park of the airport with her trousers down.

She got a totally different reaction to what this got.

She ended up saying sorry to her children as two of them were really embarrassed. But when Jack does it it’s hiliarious apparently.

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/07/2018 12:09

Pull the other one. A childless woman found in this state would be pilloried; a woman who is also a mother doubly so.

ltk · 08/07/2018 12:10

Think Louise looks fab in that photo, despite DM's clear best effort to shame her with looking less than red carpet-perfect. (Misses point.) Go Louise!

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/07/2018 13:14

I hope Mr and Mrs Rednkapp senior will be speaking out about their son's party- going too? Who was looking after their grandchildren when he was out partying with other women?

I don’t get it. Had he left his kids alone in the flat or something?

''You are absolutely 100% right and it makes me livid. We need to keep pointing it out and pointing it out so we see it. I sometimes don't even notice these double standards as our upbringing ingrains these attitudes in us.''

There are just as many double standards against men in this world. Imagine if it was 15 men and 1 women in the show 'take me out' with the boys commenting on her appearance- there would be war!

Sharon Osborne and a group of female hosts go on USA show the view and laugh and openly cheer at Catherine Kieu who mutilated her husband's genitals along with a female audience- imagine if a group of males did this over a female victim being mutilated??

Females are always critiquing male movie stars and personalities for their good looks yet if a male does it to a female he's a sex predator!

There are many more I see in everyday life between both sexes but believe me women do it just as much.

doorframe32 · 08/07/2018 13:50

''There are so many things that men just get away with but women are totally crucified if they do the same thing.''

The same is true for women doing many things men get crucified over.

Er no. I'm sure he didn't. Neither did Louise so why are Mr and Mrs Redknapp snr only pontificating about Louise going out?

That’s just the Daily Mail creating a story where there almost certainly isn’t one. I’m sure that no one else begrudges Louise a few nights out whilst the kids are being looked after by a grandparent.

I can’t think of any examples whereby a women is, as stated by the OP, ‘forced to apologise and make a statement about letting her kids down’ for going out and getting drunk on a night when she isn’t responsible for looking after her kids.

LassWiADelicateAir · 08/07/2018 14:22

Mr and Mrs R snr seem to have a problem with it. If that isn't correct let's hope they challenged the reporting of their disapproval.

Singlenotsingle · 08/07/2018 14:30

What about Hugh Grant? He's got two small children with one woman, and three with another. All born within 3-4 years of each other. And now he's married the woman with 3 DC. Surely no one could admire him for this? So tacky!

StealthPolarBear · 08/07/2018 14:33

So Louise's children had to be looked after by their grandparents while she got shit faced? Presume they don't have another parent then.

Bugjune · 08/07/2018 14:41

More is expected of women simply because we're more evolved. Men are, by and large, still a bunch of savages.

I'm only kind of joking.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/07/2018 14:41

Nothing remotely funny about that. Hmm. Totally agree with everyone else.
