Seen lovely footage of fans “celebrating” by smashing up a taxi ... jumping up and down on it, completely smashed the windscreen. All done with a large crowd watching them and singing.

Jumping up and down on bus shelters, again smashing them to pieces.

I’m so utterly disgraced with my hometown.

A relative of mine is a probation officer and apparently the levels of domestic violence, as well as several "petty" offences go through the roof when England play.
She is hoping for wins though because "less permanent damage/death" to the partners happens when they winsad whereas when they lose, their office expects at least two deaths sad
That is awful, so so sad.

thebewilderness · 08/07/2018 00:29

When I see this I think better in the streets smashing cars than at home smashing wives girlfriends and children. But then I suppose that comes next. Domestic violence incidents skyrocket after sportsball games. More when they lose but even when they win.

IsabelleSE19 · 08/07/2018 00:32

Maybe not chavvy just but sometimes terribly stabby. Maybe they do violence in a more classy Mediterranean style.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/07/2018 00:33

I think they should just ban pubs showing the games. Watch it at home, less people to mass about.

Oh and I live near Braintree. The whole town is full of dickheads.

I've been enjoying the games and I want England to do well. I'm all for celebrating, but dont be a horrendous cunt.

I'm sure the England team and Gareth Southgate would be bloody ashamed of them.

HelenaDove · 08/07/2018 00:37

I thought you were nearby Tali. You will probably know the area i mean when i say near Tesco in the town centre.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/07/2018 00:38

I know the place very well, Helena.

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/07/2018 00:38

Dont blame football, this is nothing to do with football.

Arseholes are Arseholes regardless, all they are looking for is an excuse to justify what they do. The vast vast majority of fans do not act like this.

I say this as someone who's career in is pubs. No trouble in mine at all tonight.

FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 00:39

@Wrongontheinternet

"I have heard such statements from teams in the past."

oh thanks, I didn't know if they had tried it or not.

Helena, what you say makes me think even more, those roads were closed because the police probably wanted to prevent that scenario on a major bus route. Can you get home before the match on Wednesday?

crazycatgal · 08/07/2018 00:40

@RainbowsAndSmiles I would appreciate it if you wouldn't try and twist what I'm saying. They were shouting, not singing or chanting just shouting. Also, anti-social hours are after 11pm.

HelenaDove · 08/07/2018 00:42

Yes Pills i should be able to I have an appointment around 5 o clock.

Want2bSupermum · 08/07/2018 00:42

That is awful that there is also an uptick in domestic violence. If they can't behave in public why would anyone be surprised they can't behave in private either? Seriously why aren't these events being heavily policed and fines/community service orders issued if these people are drunk and disorderly? It's a $2000 fine for having an open container in my town and a court appearance. They don't mess around. We don't have a problem with hooligans.

HelenaDove · 08/07/2018 00:44

Supermum they are being played down + minimized I did tweet the MP but .................nothing.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/07/2018 00:45

I do think they should ban pubs showing the games or atleast enforce a 2 drink minimum.

Unfortunately, due to police cuts, the man power cant be spared.

RainbowsAndSmiles · 08/07/2018 00:46

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't try and twist what I'm saying.

Confused I'm not twisting what you're saying. Just at 11.30 at night and people being loud in the street shouting/singing Eng Er Land not exactly doing any harm you - I can currently hear a bunch of tossers repeatedly shouting 'ENG-ER-LAND' a few streets away. Doesn't make them tosses for singing/shouting whatever way you look at it as they pass by if they're not doing any harm.
ToeToToe · 08/07/2018 00:48

Well I, for one, am sick of football related violence. The Brits are famous for it - it is known that domestic violence against women is related to football - and that is unacceptable.

Why the fuck do we tolerate this shit? It's a game! Enjoy it, enjoy partaking - I love an England game as much as the next person - but the football-related violence in the UK is unacceptable. We are sore losers, I'm sad to say. Losing or winning a fucking football match should not result in any violence.

FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 00:48

how will a 2 drink minimum help?

@Want2BSupermum

yes, I have noticed that other countries actually do stuff about hooligans and England doesn't. No idea why but it seems to go back a pretty long way - certainly can't recall much being done about it in my lifetime and my dad remembers some pretty grim football violence too.

FreeofPills · 08/07/2018 00:49

maybe we should have a 2 x tranquiliser minimum Grin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/07/2018 00:51

Sorry, I meant maximum. Perhaps it is my bedtime.

HelenaDove · 08/07/2018 00:54

Toe to Toe England have WON all the matches so far in this tournament though and some of the fans still behave in that way.

crazycatgal · 08/07/2018 00:55

@RainbowsAndSmiles It does make them tossers though. You might not be bothered but I'm sure plenty of people, myself included are annoyed about a group of adult men stood shouting in the street late at night. Surely you can understand that.

Their behaviour isn't in the same category as those being violent or damaging property but they are still behaving in an antisocial way. I don't understand why these behaviours are excused just because it's the world cup.

superbstarling · 08/07/2018 00:56

It's a shame that the England team can't just be recalled home and therefore lose any chance of winning! maybe if they were the fans might learn to not act like total dickheads in the future.

Justtheonequestion · 08/07/2018 01:00

EN-GER-LAND shouters are definitely tossers.

HelenaDove · 08/07/2018 01:04

oh sorry Toe you DID mention winning. The heat is affecting my concentration.

BlankTimes · 08/07/2018 01:08

Maybe the "fans" who cause such damage need a little more treatment like this? And a hefty fine.

That’s not an excuse! Celebrating isn’t setting off flares, damaging property, littering, banging on people’s doors, fake leaping in front of cars... these have all been reported on Tuesday and tonight. It’s not ok.

I have been corrected on the ambulance, that was in London. However the fact remains that it is still property damage which affects the people, like me, who will have to pay additional council tax because these people probably won’t get charged or fined for it.

It’s criminal damage and anti social behaviour any way you slice it. An ambulance car was also damaged because people climbed on it from what I’ve seen... great, so when someone need a first responder, that vehicle can’t be used.

Head Street bus stops have been destroyed after people climbed on them probably with the intention of jumping off them but wrecked them instead. Celebrating is one thing, but criminal damage is another. So glad I wasn’t in town.
