I pay my TV license - as we have no digital aereial we use BBC Iplayer.... so all the family round on the most happiest day of the year - what does BBC do? Fucking crash!!!!!

I'm not paying for this shit, it's ruined everybody's afternoon. Yeah sure we were winning, but to sit for 90 minutes and not be able to see the last 5 - am fucking fuming.

Our internet is fine btw - it's fucking iPlayer.

OP posts:
Shumpalumpa · 07/07/2018 18:33

Yes, chocolate because every company has billions like Amazin Hmm

OP, go have a lie down in a quiet room, the heat is clearly too much for you.

summersmith · 07/07/2018 18:38

Unless I misunderstood Chocolate meant amazon's content delivery network, which is the backbone of many popular streaming services.

Branleuse · 07/07/2018 18:40

urgh thats so annoying when youre watching something youve been looking forward to and it crashes.
I hope you still had a good time!

Shumpalumpa · 07/07/2018 18:41

Ah ok. Still, ime, any website/stresming service can experience downtime.

Madmarchpear · 07/07/2018 18:41

Put the Bulmers and sausage roll down OP and go to bed.

Bluntness100 · 07/07/2018 18:43

Of course it's annoying, but as I'm sure you know, you missed nothing. I think what people are reacting to is your extreme reaction, calling them cunts etc. I'm sure you also know it was a technical fault and not on purpose. It should not detract from your happy day. England won, you lost nothing, and you're surrounded by people who love you. There is no need to be online calling the bbc cunts. Go and enjoy time with your friends and family.

Hadjab · 07/07/2018 18:44

Why do people get pissed off with the responses they get when they post on a public forum, specifically AM I BEING UNREASONABLE?

hertsandessex · 07/07/2018 18:47

If you are going to get the family around for football get a digital aerial. Broadband, websites etc crash all the time. Not the end of the world and you pay your license to watch TV and listen to radio all year round not just for this game.

SimonBridges · 07/07/2018 18:55

I watched it on iPlayer and it was fine. But then I watched it on the UHD feed.

HollowTalk · 07/07/2018 18:55

Put the Bulmers and sausage roll down OP and go to bed.

This has had me in stitches. "Sausage roll" was so unexpected and funny.

AlwaysTheEnd · 07/07/2018 18:59

Ohh was there some football on the TV ?

Raspberry88 · 07/07/2018 19:04

I agree, iPlayer is barely fit for purpose and when things like that go wrong when you're trying to have a nice time it's incredibly annoying. Hope you're ok OP, people are being a bit harsh here, must be the heat!

OddBoots · 07/07/2018 19:09

Okay so the OP over reacted but I think the mickey taking has got a bit much even if the OP has actually gone.

Sorry for your loss OP.

SummerGems · 07/07/2018 19:20

Why? Because the OP claims to have been through a hard time?

if the OP has genuinely been through what she said she has, it doesn’t give her the right to come on to a public forum, tell people to fuck off and call them cunts and then tell them to fuck off some more in her drip-feed.

allthatmalarkey · 07/07/2018 19:21

I'm sorry for your loss.
We were annoyed too, but then the equipment had to cope with a much higher than normal audience. The license fee covers more than just the football. If it weren't for the Beeb all of our telly would be as shite as other countries - competing with BBC output means that the commercial companies have to produce higher standard output with higher quality equipment. Ever seen a US sitcom from the eighties shot on low budget video? Only Fools looks classy by comparison. That (and Sky and Channel 4) is what you pay for. Imagine what Corrie and Emmerdale would have been like without Eastenders to battle for ratings. And FWIW our creative industries are one of our biggest exports.
Finally, without BBC2 and David Attenborough's time as it's controller in the sixties we would arguably be a much dumber country. Not because everyone watches BBC2 (they don't!), but again, it sets the bar high and it's best programmes go to BBC1.

CommanderShepard · 07/07/2018 19:22

I watched via iPlayer and had no problems at all.

SimonBridges · 07/07/2018 19:37

Oh and if you are going to bitch about iPlayer just look at the what any other channel offers. All shit in comparison.
As for other countries, nothing to compare to iPlayer in many of them.

scarbados · 07/07/2018 19:37

Get a grip and get a fucking life.

GlomOfNit · 07/07/2018 19:50

Woah. Gorgeous sunny day, the weekend - and you're moaning about something going down in the last few minutes of a match whose outcome, at that stage, was obvious - because your desires happened to match those of several million other people and therefore it crashed? Confused

BBC license fee doesn't exist in order to gratify one specific broadcast. There's radio, local radio which serves a community ethos, educational programming, helplines, websites - that's in addition to all the world class tv that we can also sell abroad. We lose it, we'll notice. And regret it massively.

but hey, the last five minutes of a footy match that was clearly going England's way is the ONLY reason to pay (or not pay) the license? Biscuit

JustVent · 07/07/2018 20:07

OP I had iPlayer and mine cut out in the last 5 minutes as well. Piece of crap.

People are saying ‘get a grip’ but would they really be saying that if it was the cliff hanger of their favourite programme? Nah, they would be foaming.
But because it’s football we aren’t allowed to be pissed off Hmm.

I was disappointed as well OP. It’s not on, is it?

MiniCooperLover · 07/07/2018 20:27

Get a flipping aerial?

hayli · 07/07/2018 20:35

Ah the inevitable drip-feed designed in such a way that no-one could possibly challenge it.
Well somebody questioned happy day of the year .. so safe to say she had every bloody right to answer it.

mildshock · 07/07/2018 20:49

I thought it was just my iPlayer app!!

I was gutted to miss the last 5 minutes

MrsHass · 07/07/2018 21:09

Some people on here really do try to out-cunt one another.

Bluntness100 · 07/07/2018 23:00

Yeah they do, they try to act all cool and say it's ok to call people cunts. Failing to realise it says more about them than the person they are abusing.
