I pay my TV license - as we have no digital aereial we use BBC Iplayer.... so all the family round on the most happiest day of the year - what does BBC do? Fucking crash!!!!!

I'm not paying for this shit, it's ruined everybody's afternoon. Yeah sure we were winning, but to sit for 90 minutes and not be able to see the last 5 - am fucking fuming.

Our internet is fine btw - it's fucking iPlayer.

Well let’s see, what did she miss.... the winning goal? Nope. The goal where Sweden took the lead and claimed the quarter final place? Nope. it was extra time at the point the stream failed, and that is the nature of technology.

And if she had a load of friends round they’re clearly not that important if her first thought was to come on to MN and express how fuming she was.....

Priorities a tad skewed me thinks.....

FootballsComingHome · 07/07/2018 17:44

It’s not as bad as itvs error

If anybody wants to address the happiest day of the year comment well... My dearest beloved died in Dec, it would have been her birthday 2 days ago.

Yes, we have gone all out in the hope as a family and friends to make it a happy day and the happiest day for me as have been signed off work with depression, been self harming etc...

and fuck off with your get a grips too - I really couldn't give one shit on your opinion.

chocolateworshipper · 07/07/2018 17:46

Its not the actual companies fault, its just a sudden high volume of users.. theres not a lot can be done about it

Actually that's not true. There is absolutely no reason in this day and age for a company's website to crash during a spike in demand. If they simply used a web hosting company (like Amazon), there would never be an issue.

lardymclardy · 07/07/2018 17:47

Such a gem @SummerGems. Not.

I'm fucking off now, say what you like.

Lol summergemsGrin

Dermymc · 07/07/2018 17:50

@summergems has it.

Pay for a digital ariel you tightwad

summersmith · 07/07/2018 17:56

chocolate Amazon Web services go down too... Netflix has had many outages.

Probably time to get an aerial or freesat.

sexnotgender · 07/07/2018 18:02

I'm sorry for your loss but that's an almighty drip feed.

YoThePussy · 07/07/2018 18:03

Seen this just as i was about to bang on my NDN’s door and harangue them The wife was cackling in a silly way and was convinced she had somehow wrecked my wifi.

Yeah yeah, know I am paranoid.

Happyhippy45 · 07/07/2018 18:03

Our freesat stopped working this morning so we had to watch on iplayer. Ours crashed too. Really annoying.

SummerGems · 07/07/2018 18:04

Ah the inevitable drip-feed designed in such a way that no-one could possibly challenge it.

TheQueef · 07/07/2018 18:04

DS was cross.
I was enjoying the empty gardens.

At least now he's getting the Ariel fixed it has been strangling the chimney for the last ten years.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 07/07/2018 18:07

OP this is clearly not about iPlayer or the BBC but about your celebration of your friend’s birthday in her absence. I’m sorry you’re having a hard day. Put the internet down and go and be with your friends.

specialsubject · 07/07/2018 18:09

probably the same type of people who whine that we dont have enough snowploughs.

capacity management wont cope with rare events. simple economics. if you want reliable, get lower tech.

same as brick phones conk out in hours and cant cope with lower signa l strength, while my talk and text job lasts two weels and works much better.

Limpopobongo · 07/07/2018 18:10

For future ref and if possible, just get a freesat receiver and a mini dish

OddBoots · 07/07/2018 18:12

Some friends of mine had a power cut for the whole thing, they had paid their electricity bill, but sometimes faults happen in systems.

Glumglowworm · 07/07/2018 18:13

I have an indoors digital ariel that cost about £15 quid. Easy solution for next time

KurriKurri · 07/07/2018 18:13

I'm sorry for your loss, but I suspect your extreme over reaction to missing the last five minutes of a match that had already been won, is your depression talking. I have depression too - I tend to catastrophise things other people can handle quite easily.

I bring some of my CBT techniques into play when I find I can't cope with everyday irritations.
There's still plenty of time for you to enjoy your day and celebrate the win - don't allow your feelings to get out of control and ruin the day for you.

TV cock ups happen - it's life, no need to fume. You can;t choose whether TV crashes, but you can choose how you react - sounds like fuming isn't working for you as you are getting very wound up.

LuMarie · 07/07/2018 18:14

I had iplayer on through tvplayer.com , I'm overseas (definitely not my happiest day of the year lol!), so I'd expect to be first to lose connection, but no problems.

Maybe have that as a backup for next week? You'll need internet on your tv or laptop connected to it, that's all.

PS Still hope you don't win/beat my team later, but congrats, enjoy your evening and good luck all the same:)

flippyfloppyflower · 07/07/2018 18:20

lardymclardy your anger is not at the BBC but at other issues in your life. So yes, get a grip and stop swearing on a public forum about such a trivial matter.

I suggest you try deep breathing and seeking further help for your problems.

bumhead · 07/07/2018 18:23
Hmm
quizqueen · 07/07/2018 18:28

Frankly, I'd be more disappointed that I couldn't spell the noun licence correctly!!...and your language is disgusting.

Pengggwn · 07/07/2018 18:29

If you couldn't give one shit, why are you asking? Confused

chrisinthesun · 07/07/2018 18:31

Oh FFS! You missed hardly anything! I can't believe that in 2018, anyone would have 'only the internet' as a way to watch a footie match. Why not go to a pub or somewhere that is showing it?

And why do you not have any 'normal' tv? If you are too tight to pay for a TV service (like everyone else does,) then tough titties if the internet crashes on you and you miss some of a football match.

@quizqueen

Frankly, I'd be more disappointed that I couldn't spell the noun licence correctly!!...and your language is disgusting.

OP cannot spell the word AERIAL correctly either! Wink

And by the way.

WELL DONE ENGLAND. In the semi finals of the World Cup for the first time in almost 3 decades!!!!

It's coming home. Grin ⚽️😁😝
