*France

D'oh!

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 22:01

Pickford was fantastic

Writersblock2 · 07/07/2018 22:01

Well done, England!!!!

BitchQueen90 · 07/07/2018 22:02

England v France final!

AviatorShades · 07/07/2018 22:03

Anyone watch Russia/Croatia just now? So Croatia won on penalties..
high energy game, made the earlier england/sweden game seem like pat ball.
This is getting exciting, innit?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 07/07/2018 22:04

Croatia V Russia only picked up in extra time. First 90 mins were pretty dull.

OP posts:
chrisinthesun · 07/07/2018 22:06

Cannot BELIEVE it. Never been this excited! Grin

COME ON ENGLAND!

You would have to be a soul-less zombie to not be excited, even if you are normally not fussed about footie. Grin

BananaToffo · 07/07/2018 22:13

I only ever watch football when it's World Cup time, so I am pretty clueless generally.

So, for those less clueless....if (big if, I know) we got to the final, who would we be better off facing....France or Belgium?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 07/07/2018 22:16

Belgium. France have been on fire.

OP posts:
Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 22:18

I guess one advantage we have v the experienced teams is that won’t know how we play?

altiara · 07/07/2018 22:21

Couldn’t believe England took the straightforward win route!

BananaToffo · 07/07/2018 22:25

Thanks, Tali

There are some right tits on another thread about someone having a wedding today. TOTALLY denying that the World Cup is popular, and saying they don't know a SOUL who is interested in it and watching the England games.

Weirdos!!! Grin

Gotta pity miserable fuckers like this!!!

30 million people watched the England vs Sweden match today, and 25 million watched the Colombia vs England one.

Motorways were deserted today, and the streets were deserted, but apparently 'no-one is interested in the football!!!' Grin

These individuals on the other thread claim everywhere they went today was packed out with NO-ONE watching football.

Don't believe a word. What a load of crap. Grin

Halfblindbunny · 07/07/2018 22:44

I've found you. I'm really hoping we get Belgium if we make it through to the final.

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 22:49

chrisinthesun Misers. I’m not even a big football fan, don’t support a team & couldn’t name half of the england players however it’s so much fun to get swept up in a sporting event & root for your favourites & have them come good.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 07/07/2018 22:50

Chris, there are some right miserable gits on MN grumbling about the football.

I think its nice that as a nation we are backing a team of young, world cup rookies. They are doing well and they deserve some recognition.

I love each and every one of them, in a maternal fashion!

Back in the old days of Gazza and Stuart Pearce etc, they were bloody great, but there was definitely an arrogance about them.

This team and their wonderfully lovely Manager seem so unassuming and professional.

I love that Gareth has said after every match that he hopes the nation has enjoyed the game. There's none of the antic that the old boys would get up to. No WAGS, no playing games with the press. They're just all so professional!

Why anyone would want to piss on the chips of 30 million supporters is beyond me. We have already made history, regardless of what happens on Wednesday (it's now called Waistcoat Wednesday btw. Despite the 100 degrees heat, you have to wear one!Grin) History is being rewritten. Have have a decent team, who will go far. We have a Manager who has real class and we have won a penalty shoot out!

I, for one, want to be part of that.

Here endth the lesson! Grin

And they have years ahead of them who knows where they could go? I sat in Costa today watching it and there were five people in there. Usually it’s packed on a Saturday. Never have I being so happy to be off work sick for afew weeks (post op) I’m loving all this sport and I’m not generally a sports person.

Third thread. claims credit

Two amazing semis in different ways. I cannot wait. Even though I will be nervous as hell on Wednesday

Agree completely. It's such a wonderful time right now. The whole country (apart from a few miserable fuckers!) is massively excited and the euphoria is amazing. So many people are excited, and the feelgood factor is immense!

Brilliant post! Speaks volumes!!! Grin

There is something so magical and wonderful about this whole journey. Takes me back to the glory days of the 80's and 90's!!! Smile

And Gareth Southgate is just the nicest guy in the world!!!

And the whole team is just so amazing. Smile

ENGLAND TO WIN THE WORLD CUP. PLEEEEEEEASE GOD! Smile

We deserve it!

Hum2 · 07/07/2018 23:41

Spent 4 hours on motorways this afternoon, it was like Christmas Day, very empty! Weird but exciting!

Missbrick1 · 07/07/2018 23:47

I love that Southgate will be remembered for this as opposed to his penalty now.

1happyhippie · 08/07/2018 00:07

Whatever happens now the whole team can come back with her head held high. They have been fantastic!
Today was just brilliant, Pickford was man of the match for me, but they all played their hearts out, couldn't ask for more.
Now Wednesday should be a good game, I can see us getting to the final here. If we play like we did today and Croatia play like they did today, we should be able to do this. Plus, they have just played 120mins plus penalties so we should be better rested.
I think it will be France in the final. They have a strong squad and play really good football, although Belgium shouldn't be underestimated.
If or when, we get to the final we shouldn't fear anyone though, and just play with everything we've got and we could do it!

Have you seen what's trending on Twitter? There's #thingspickfordcouldsave and #garethsouthgatewould some of them are hilarious.
I hope they get to see all the fans celebrating at home and realise how proud we are of them.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/07/2018 00:11

Omg, I love #thingspickfordcouldsave

It's lovely seeing people really get behind the team.
