Neighbors fucking windchimes

Wellthisunexpected · 03/07/2018 12:37

Our neighbors (not friendly, very stand offish & not for considering others but keep themselves to themselves) have a set of huge windchimes in one other the trees. Their garden backs on to the side of our house and the windchimes can be heard with any window open.

I know I abu, it's their garden to do with as they wish BUT the incessant tinkly clanging is driving me fucking bonkers!

Worst thing is, mine aren’t even neighbours on my street. It another street whose gardens back onto ours so I can hear them but have no idea which selfish bastard owns them so I can go round and play loud music under their bedroom window 24/7. See how they like intrusive noise.

I may have obsessed about this a tiny bit...Blush

ScrubTheDecks · 03/07/2018 20:52

I would be asking them to take them down. Or just sabotage them.

Why do people think it is ok to inflict their noise on others?

If you must buy mystical magical spiritual hippy shit on your holiday in Frome or Glastonbury or Lyme Regis or Matlock Bath get a dream catcher or a small pewter goblin, and take your neighbours some fudge. Not a summer of irritation!

Sheldonoscopy · 03/07/2018 21:02

To quote Rebecca rabbit ‘cut the tree down!’

Or just reach over with a ridiculously long pair of shears in the dark and cut the fuckers down

MammaSchwifty · 03/07/2018 21:11

Windchimes are the worst. So fucking rude and inconsiderate to put these up where others can hear the incessant noise.

I remember sweating in bed one summer because we had to keep the window closed as the racket from a nearby set of chimes was impossible to sleep through.

GigglingWanky · 03/07/2018 23:45

I was thinking about a set as they'd go some way to covering up my tinnitus in my breezy garden. Maybe I'll try a water feature instead. Though not one like our Men's which used to sound like a horse pissing in a pond.

GigglingWanky · 03/07/2018 23:45

NDN not men's.

Ethylred · 03/07/2018 23:54

8 acres away? That makes no sense, not even on Mumsnet.
Acres are measures of area not distance.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 04/07/2018 00:03

✂️😉

WeAllHaveWings · 04/07/2018 00:03

It doesn't matter if your windchimes are/are not nice and twinkly, or if they are well made, made of bamboo or have a brand name like Woodstock.

None wants to listen to them!! I guarantee you (unless you live out of earshot of any other houses) they are irritating someone, probably at night. Take them down, stop being so selfish and stop annoying your neighbours.

psychomath · 04/07/2018 00:29

UpstartCrow that made me Grin!

user764329056 · 04/07/2018 00:50

Bloody selfish people that hang these things up in gardens, put them inside if you want to hear them all day, it’s madness to inflict them on others

JuneMyNameIsJune · 04/07/2018 07:41

Just popping back to laugh at the idea of wrapping sellotape around them Grin.

I might send ninja DC4 over the fence in the early hours with a roll to work some magic. Just visualising their faces when they come across their mummified wind chimes is making me feel SO much better.

SumerisIcumenin · 04/07/2018 07:53

I like wind chimes. Our neighbour has them, and her two grandchildren don’t screech and yell in the garden either, so I can actually hear them.
I do loop my chimes up at night though.

ScrubTheDecks · 04/07/2018 08:24

I do not like these tinkly chimes
I do not like these noisy times
I do not like them made of wood
I do not like them in a tree
I do not like them after tea.
I do not like them in the night
I do not like them in the day
I do not like them, Scrubs I am!

Wellthisunexpected · 04/07/2018 09:35

I put cello tape on the ones my colleague has up in the office. If she's noticed she hasn't said anything. I just think they are really selfish.
