The above is a quote from The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring, said by Lord Elrond. At this stage, with POTUS practically pissing off every ally the US has while cosying up with several dictators, it seems quite apt.

'US president is so 'unpredictable' he may want to confront the protesters himself, Tony Blair's former media adviser says'
Hmm Now that is something we'd all love to see, but he is too gutless to fire anyone face to face, so ........

No one has been threatened with violence (except by T.) or assaulted (except at T. rallies, in Charlottesville .... ). You'd think these believers in freedom and the first amendment would have more constitutional fortitude. Oh, and Gingrich is on record saying “I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty" :

'Newt Gingrich, the former Republican House speaker and Trump ally,
former Republican House speaker and Trump ally, said the way to end the public confrontations is “to call the police.”

“You file charges and you press them,” Gingrich said. “We have no reason to tolerate barbarians trying to impose totalitarian behavior by sheer force, and we have every right to defend ourselves.” '

'Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican who spent 13 years in Congress, said Washington has always been a hotbed of dissent. What has changed, he said, is that aggressive tactics “are becoming more normalized.”

“We’re in a situation where bad behavior is being rewarded,” he said. “There are no filters. I don’t know where it ends'

(They both could, of course, have been speaking of the fountainhead of unfiltered vileness, threats and aggression that resides in the WH.)

The unfolding of the Russia scandal has been like walking into a dark cavern. Every step reveals that the cave runs deeper than we thought, and after each one, as we wonder how far it goes, our imaginations are circumscribed by the steps we have already taken.
But what if that’s wrong? What if we’re still standing closer to the mouth of the cave than the end?

T.'s interest in Russian was noted long ago. Apparently, the Czechs had a file on him in the 80s.

I understand Dersh’s reasoning, but he is provably incorrect. Our Founders’ reasoning on this very issue is documented.

They specifically discussed the prosecution of criminal charges against a President as requiring impeachment FIRST, instead of barring it completely.

Hamilton lays this out, in no uncertain terms, in Federalist #69:

Trump SCOTUS team has looked at Kavanaugh's past comments on indicting a sitting president, we've confirmed. In 2009, Kavanaugh wrote: "The indictment and trial of a sitting President, moreover, would cripple the federal government..."

Forget Roe V Wade, Trump doesn't give a shit about any of that.

Trumps new Supreme Court pick - Judge Brett Kavanaugh: "A sitting President cannot and should not be indicted or subject to a criminal investigation or civil suit."

OP posts:
PerkingFaintly · 10/07/2018 07:50

"A sitting President cannot and should not be indicted or subject to a criminal investigation or civil suit."

Why "investigation" not "prosecution" in that statement? Rather a large difference between those two concepts.
