To want the sunshine to go away now?

I know IABU to an extent. We rarely get warm weather but I'm bored of it now. Everything in the garden is dry and DDog doesn't know what to do with himself. I'm from Manchester. I like an occasional sunny day interspersed with cool and rain. Anyone else feel the same?

I'd keep the sunshine but have it rain every night.

I'm in the NW too, my garden has lots of moisture loving plants which are starting to suffer badly. I didn't know astilbe could go crispy. Sad

My Ddog is happy enough - alternating sunning himself and flopping in the shade. Yesterday we managed to get up really early and take him for a decent walk before it got hot - meant to do the same this morning but didn't manage it. I wish I could get into the habit of rising early, getting stuff done and then having a siesta!

MissClareRemembers · 01/07/2018 16:37

Urgh yes I’m with you. It’s clouded over here so it’s going to be horribly muggy overnight. Mind you, a breeze has sprung up so that’s something!

I adore sunny days but hate relentless heat. A really good thunderstorm with rain would ace!

peg90 · 01/07/2018 16:39

I'm bored with it too. Always feel I have to be out "enjoying the sun" but I just want to stay inside and flop Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/07/2018 16:42

I’m done with it today, I’ve been gone until now but me and Ds have given up on gone inside. His lovely idea of a garden picnic ended up being hot and sweaty with all the food warming and getting grim. Happy to have sun but at least give us a bit of breeze and air

whiteroseredrose · 01/07/2018 16:48

Glad it's not just me. Rain at night might be a good compromise 😁

I am also from the North West.

I like the nice weather but I wish a could have rain overnight - everything is getting so dry and the lawn is going brown.

We are not too far from the moorland fires and some rain would really help right now.

I know we shouldn't moan about nice weather especially after such a cold, long winter but overnight rain is needed now!

ReadingRiot · 01/07/2018 17:06

I am loving his summer. Weirdly I find moving a bit is more comfortable than trying to stay comfortable sitting still. I cycled 50m yesterday which was lovely - you make your own breeze and I ran this morning, once you get sweaty your body's own cooling system does what it should. I've spent the afternoon gardening and agree we need some rain. I'm now sat in the shade and loving it.

Mmmmmmmchips · 01/07/2018 17:07

Yes YABU It’s lovely

halfwitpicker · 01/07/2018 17:08

I've given up. Indoors now in the air con watching footy.

I have nothing to prove.

9amTrain · 01/07/2018 17:40

I want it to cool down a bit more.

It's not been that bad the past 2 days.

MissCharleyP · 01/07/2018 17:44

After no proper summers for about ten years and an unrelenting, miserable winter the sun can stay as long as it likes!

puffylovett · 01/07/2018 17:48

I love it. But it has been relentless, and living close to 2 different places that have gone up in flames (staffs moorlands) over the last couple of days is scary! I’d like a bit of rain and slightly cooler temperatures please!

pigsDOfly · 01/07/2018 17:49

I'm another one who's had enough of it.

I'm in the south east, it's been muggy and cloudy today and actually not very pleasant.

We've (the dog and I) managed to get a few walks in the evening in the last couple of days but it's awkward because of the timing of when she eats and when I eat.

She hates the heat so I have to wait until it's really cooled down before I take her out and she's been flopped out in the garden every day since the hot weather began.

We're both missing our walks and her run in the park. She's bored and so am I.

lanbury · 01/07/2018 17:50

Need rain to put the horrible fires on the moors out. Sad if it wasn't for that, I'm happy with the sunshine.

fruityb · 01/07/2018 17:53

I love sunshine but the relentless heat is getting too much now. I constantly have sweaty elbow and knee pits!

Happily windows open all day is keeping it cool at night but I just wish there was some air about. I feel like I have a swimming pool under each tit!

Seriouslyscrewed · 01/07/2018 17:57

I'm not really enjoying it anymore...dd is 12 months and is miserable in the heat. It makes every day a struggle.

Saying that the me before children would have been out in the garden from sunrise to sunset in this weather.

katzensocken · 01/07/2018 17:58

To me, sunshine/warm weather is only 'lovely' if there's plenty of shade available, a nice cool breeze (none here right now!) and about 22-24 degrees at the most. I can't regulate my temp properly (hormonal stuff) and feel wretched when it's too hot - forget going out in it! I like a nice walk in the sun at a lower temp where I won't overheat.

lemonnmeringuepie · 01/07/2018 18:04

I live on the coast and have been thinking of those inland as it must be unbearable there! The weather here has been amazing but with a lovely cool breeze. However it is absolutely baltic here in the winter, very harsh winds from the sea, so swings and roundabouts I suppose!

FlyingElbows · 01/07/2018 18:32

I'm Scottish. This weather is basically unnatural. Enough now.

Mummaloves · 01/07/2018 19:00

YANBU I've have enough of it too. My dogs don't know what to do with themselves, they have a fan on them and paddling pool in the garden. My horses look miserable even though they are hosed down a few times a day, and whatever we put on them the flies just don't go away. And I'm burnt. To a crisp. I'm sick of frizzy hair and sweaty boobs, and being hot at night. Roll on autumn.

isseywithcats · 01/07/2018 19:06

No im loving being able to go to nice places on our motorbike without ten layers of clothes and freezing to death when the bike is moving, put the panniers on and when we get there being able to walk round said pretty places in a tee shirt, jeans and sandals (which i take with me) the bike season is short enough im loving it

RhubarbAndMustard · 01/07/2018 19:20

I love it and it's hardly been relentless. It will be miserable, grey and depressing in no time. Enjoy it while it's here.

redhappydance · 01/07/2018 19:21

YANBU!! 35 weeks pregnant right now with the worlds biggest bump.... I want it to rain for the rest of the year at the moment.

I'm absolutely sick of the "you must be struggling" comments. No fucking shit!

squidgesquodge · 01/07/2018 19:23

One of the things I like about England is the variety of weather. This winter, it was miserable for weeks on end and we were stuck inside; this summer, it has been boiling hot and we feel forced to be out making the most of it. I could do with a couple of days of rain and then back to sunshine. For one thing, I love the smell of rain on hot tarmac.

dementedma · 01/07/2018 19:25

loving every minute of it. In Scotland so this is just fabulous after all the shitty weather we normally get. Great to wear shorts and sit out in the garden with the scent of sweet peas and honeysuckle.....it can stay as long as it likes as far as I'm concerned.
