To want the sunshine to go away now?

I know IABU to an extent. We rarely get warm weather but I'm bored of it now. Everything in the garden is dry and DDog doesn't know what to do with himself. I'm from Manchester. I like an occasional sunny day interspersed with cool and rain. Anyone else feel the same?

YANBU. I've had enough.

But then I'm pregnant so am currently fat, hormonal and finding working full time and running around after a hyperactive preschooler even more tiring than usual. The heat just makes everything more of an effort.

lardymclardy · 01/07/2018 19:33

I'm UK Midlands - our forecast is pretty much the same for the next 2 weeks, not even a hint of a thunderstorm. I just want a whopping great storm to clear the air. All grassy areas around here now are just yellow and straw like. I don't do well in the heat (sweaty mess), I'd settle for some breeze.

Quandary2018 · 01/07/2018 19:38

Guaranteed once the schools break up and I’m on annual leave for 2 weeks it will be pissing it down constantly.
Right now I’m having to deal with DS who isn’t drinking enough at school during the day so is irritable, dehydrated and has a headache every evening and DD who at 4 years old has turned into a massive drama queen and has had about a million emotional breakdowns today alone.
Oh, plus she’s started napping in the afternoons again so is up all bloody night because she isn’t tired!
Garden is basically straw, don’t own enough summer clothes to keep up. Am done with it being this hot and still having to function- this is sitting by the pool weather not School runs, commuting etc

Strumpetpumpet · 01/07/2018 19:39

No I hate it too! I’m in Manchester as well & it’s far too hot. I’m ginger and very pale - my arms burnt just hanging washing out yesterday 😂. I normally walk everywhere but not this week, I would be a charred crisp by now.

Ohyesiam · 01/07/2018 19:39

Water the garden and the dog at the same time.
Yabu, I’m LOVING itSmile

The80sweregreat · 01/07/2018 19:40

I hate it too.

Raffles1981 · 01/07/2018 19:44

I'm torn ATM. I have a poor dog who has no clue what to do. My baby is not sleeping great at night. My DP and I wish we could run around creating fabulous memories but in reality, it's too freaking hot. I want the nice weather, but I don't want to work in it. And as I type, I am listening to a mother losing her shit. I reckon she's in the "had enough" camp.

TheSconeOfStone · 01/07/2018 19:56

We had a few hours of rain Devon this morning. Was a nice change 😀. We live by the sea so enjoying going for a swim without a wetsuit. Wouldn’t want to be inland right now. The winters are boring and wet though.

Keeptrudging · 01/07/2018 21:01

I'm Scottish. It's actually starting to freak me out, and I've got a growing feeling of impending doom. Someone has stolen our weather. Confused

NotARegularPenguin · 01/07/2018 21:02

Yabu.

I’m loving it. Don’t remember a period of sun and no rain like this for years.

sunshinewithabitofdrizzle · 01/07/2018 21:05

I'm fat and perimenopausal, so the heat is unbearable and I have no energy at all :( And my garden is brown and cracked. Thank god my car has reasonable aircon.

HolyMountain · 01/07/2018 21:09

Don’t wish the sunshine and warm weather away.

We get so few long running ,decent dry sunny spells, I’m dreading the wet dull days.

Let’s keep this lovely weather.

Wilberforce2 · 01/07/2018 21:13

Yanbu! I'm fat, nothing fits and what does fit looks shit so I might be happier if I could waft around in a floaty summer dress! To add to the fatness I'm blonde and freckly and my skin hates the sun so I'm spending days sweating in the shade!! Oh and throw in some serious pmt I'm just miserable 😭

kaytee87 · 01/07/2018 21:19

I'm Scottish and haven't seen rain since April (was on holiday when it rained at the start of June). My gardens fine as we've no lack of water here so I don't feel guilty watering every other day or having the sprinklers on.
It is just weird but nice because my toddler is having so much fun in the garden. I'm getting fed up eating outside every bloody dinner time but my husband insists and I can't really complain when he's stuck in an office all day.
My hayfever has been atrocious yesterday and today though. I got 3 hours sleep last night. Have taken some night nurse so hopefully that does the trick tonight.

The80sweregreat · 02/07/2018 21:09

I’m also overweight and look crap in summer clothes. I love my winter outfits of jeans and jumpers - covering up is great.
Up side is my washing is dry very quickly.

Seasawride · 02/07/2018 21:16

I love the heat but have to admit Its going it a bit now. My grass is yellow!! Picked up dear grandson from nursery and it was like an oven in there. Not a happy bunny.

ilovesooty · 02/07/2018 21:18

It's brilliant. Still loving it.

1sttimeDD · 02/07/2018 21:18

YANBU!!!!!!

36 weeks pregnant and strugglingggggg Sad

BWrose · 03/07/2018 05:18

I have fair skin with loads of moles so I'm a contender for skin cancer. I practice sun safety. I like staying in from the sun, however there are times when I need to go out into the sun.

I'm absolutely hating the heatwave. I find it hard to sleep at night, and I have to get up as usual in the mornings and put in a day's work where it can be anything from 7/8 hours to 10/11/12. I'm sweating constantly with little breaks. When I get home, it's time for a cool shower and that's about that.

I finished work early yesterday evening and I felt my body was just weak and my legs felt like jelly. I was in bed for the night by 8.30.

The biggest issue for me with the heatwave is that my energy is completely drained.

checkingforballoons · 03/07/2018 05:35

I’m going to put in a written request for a summer with a max temp of 22 and the occasional thunderstorm.
I spent yesterday with a migraine, the heat didn’t help!

KinkyAfro · 03/07/2018 07:25

I'm in Manchester too and I've had about enough, I work in porta cabins which are unbearable in the afternoons. I'd be happy with lower temps, fresh evenings/nights so I can sleep and yes, rain overnight. Left all the windows open but on lock last night yet it was still 24° on the thermostat downstairs, much hotter upstairs

LakieLady · 03/07/2018 08:06

The sun and heat is fine for me, and we live at the top of a hill so have a breeze most of the time.

The pollen though - I've never had hay fever like it. My nose is running at such a rate that that alone could cause dehydration, my eyes are constantly streaming, I have a sore throat and earache and my sinuses are hurting.

And I've got prickly heat, so I'm itching as well!

Slowtrain2dawn · 03/07/2018 08:38

I have really tried to enjoy the heat but it just doesn't seem to agree with me. My face has erupted in cold sores and I've developed a splitting headache today. I need to wear sun cream, hat, sunglasses to avoid the sun causing this I know but yesterday I forgot, worked and drove around in the sun and now I'm buggered. If I didn't have to work full time I'd be fine. In hot countries people go at a slower pace/ have siestas but in the uk we are expected to just carry on as normal. Grrrrrr

MaMaMaMySharona · 03/07/2018 08:42

I moved from London to Manchester in October and was bracing myself for a wetter summer than I’m used to, this is AMAZING!!

I heard it may last for another 2 weeks, I’m chuffed to bits!

problembottom · 03/07/2018 08:51

I’m with you too. Also in Manchester and it’s somewhat unusual here! To be fair I’m usually a sun baker but pregnancy means me and the heat are just not getting along. Me and my very very furry cat are fed up.
